New Red vs. Blue series, Reconstruction, debuts
It's been nearly a year since the Red vs. Bluniverse said its goodbyes, only occasionally popping up to help promote a map pack or the like. But now (as promised last month) the series has returned with Red vs. Blue Reconstruction. And it's exactly the Red vs. Blue you've always loved! ... Except for the fact that it's not particularly funny.
No, Burnie and crew haven't let their talents become dulled from too many rounds of Grifball, they seem to be trying for a more serious approach this time ... or maybe it's just all set up for a big episode 2 punchline. Either way, we're on board for the new episodes coming on Mondays this summer.

I thought it was really good
maybe you suck

I thought the compositing was good. If you look at the screen shots above there is well over the maximum amount of units per game there. Also the on screen visuals that were added were pretty cool.

You mainly suck because you weren't even first.
Fail.

Seriousness? On MY interwebs??
SOUND THE ALARM

Bring back caboose.

I suck so much that you replied to my comment before I even posted it, apparently... I FOUND A BUG ON THE INTERNET!

Machinima is a lot of things, but in my opinion it works better in a comedic structure. Headbobbing character models never quite convey "drama" to me.

Well the last line certainly hinted at a lot of jokes in the next one.

I thought this initial episode was just a brilliant setup. Yeah, we'll have to wait and see how the rest of the series turns out, but right now, I've real high hopes.

I love that this is looking like an homage to John Carpenter's The Thing.
Dyranios @ May 27th 2008 11:56AM
I would love a "serious" halo minseries, the environment is all there just got to get some talent there
Drago Dracini @ May 27th 2008 12:12PM
;p i almost thought this was a serious series... thank christ it isn't gonna be.

Question for those that have watched it, those who haven't don't read.
Who was the character at the end of the show, my red vs blue knowledge is a little rusty, was it tucker or church? Or someone from red?
TwistedBishop @ May 27th 2008 12:49PM
It was a new character, Agent Washington, introduced in the previous Red vs. Blue mini-series "Recovery One"

I always thought it'd be awesome if these guys took on, say, TF2 instead. We'd call it "RED vs. BLU". :P

Just watched it. I was kinda worried when I watched the trailer a while back, and REALLY worried throughout the majority of this video. I don't abhore the idea of a serious machinima, but Red VS Blue just isn't one, and to slap that name on a drama would feel... wrong.
However, about the time the dude on the screen said "The term experts is a bit.... complementary in this situation", a grin spread over my face. The next scene, where it flashed to washington in halo 2 armor and standing in Coagulation, sealed it in my mind.
I'm confident that the series is returning to comedy starting next episode. We'll have to wait for next week to be sure, though, I guess.
