We might as well have called this post "create your own baseball-pun headline!" An update to the ESRB website suggests that the classic Tengen baseball game R.B.I. Baseball might be coming to Xbox Live Arcade in the near future, delighting retro sports gaming fans everywhere.
R.B.I. was a MLB-branded game on the Nintendo Entertainment System, first released in 1988. Still notably absent from the Wii's Virtual Console service, the game is being developed by new studio Six Degrees Games, according to the ESRB. We're personally thrilled to see classic sports titled revamped for XBLA, and would love to see even more. Blades of Steel, anyone?

Bases Loaded? I knew of it's existence, yes. Friends all had RBI Baseball, good game and I enjoyed playing it when I did, but...
It was all about Baseball Stars!

RBI, blades of steel, bases loaded, GOAL, etc. were all good games but now they're hopelessly outdated. Aside from re-living your youth, these games serve no other purpose. If you disagree and believe these games are fun and a worthwile experience, then you should be playing on a Wii because that's what the Wii is supposed to embody.

Yeah, I kinda have my doubts how well this will play on the 360. I'm wondering if they're porting the game using the same technology used for Battlezone, et al. By the way, is this the arcade version of RBI or the console RBI?
It's interesting that they would introduce this game after their speal last week about only allowing higher quality games to remain on the service.
But I'll likely give this one a look-see.

I still have an NES that I fire up once in awhile, and I played Blades a months ago. It's actually kind of difficult now because it's so old.

Screw RBI baseball. What we need is Basewars and the Mutant League games.

Damn, this game just reminded me how old my ass is getting. I remember playing this game damn near everyday coming home from school back in the day. This is a must buy for me

I still play this game. I probably logged more hours on my NES playing this than any other game, when it was current, let alone during the years since.
Nothing like hitting like 5 home runs in a row with AL All Stars. Mtngly, Rndlph, Mcgwir, and Cansco ftw!
The full 86 Mets, the fear of facing Joyner, Jackson, and Downing when playing the Angels, Bret Saberhagen's side arm... seriously, this is the greatest baseball video game of all time.
I have to give the nod to Mario Superstar Sluggers and MLB Power Pros for carrying on this style of game, too.

I logged plenty of hours on this back in the NES days.. Can anyone remember Jim Lindemen who played for St. Louis? He had some type of glitch that was good for a HR. If you were behind in the 9th, bring him off the bench and it was a sure HR.
BTW, the Cards were sweet.. The most guys with "A" speed of any team on that game

Give me RBI, throw in Baseball Stars and top it off with Tecmo super Bowl. After that stop releasing XBLA games. There is no need, you are perfect.

OH MY GOD.
Of all the games that would make my XBLA wish list, this is #1. I'd pay 50 bucks for this one.
My original NES cart barely works in my original NES. We're talking 10 minutes of jiggling it back and forth and blowing.

I loved RBI baseball ... Had the black cartridge and everything (I hope it did)
I remember the game well (I think)
It had the All Star teams in it to ... I remember Dave Righetti and George Brett (vaguely)

Ya, I've got a sweetspot for RBI Baseball, but honestly, I wouldn't want to pay anymore than 400 points for it. That's what I paid for Track and Field and it was well worth it.
Blades of Steel though. WHOA. If they put that out, I honestly don't know that I would ever buy another modern hockey game. This or that NHL 95 that was on the genesis.

I second the motion on blades of steel and mutant league football. Another, but certainly popular game, that I would like to see is NHL Powerplay '97 it was actually my favorite hockey game (and I've played a lot of them).

anyone remember Baseball Simulator 1.000?
It's claim to fame was the crazy trick plays, but my buddy and I actually played the regular version because of it's insane degree of customizing of rosters (long before EA was on the scene).
