Will the achievements still be easy?
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 4:34PM
Just 3D?
Pfff... PS3 renders in 4D.
=p
Henry @ May 28th 2008 4:35PM
Record stuck perhaps?
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 4:38PM
Ma... ma... may... maybe.
arrrgh @ May 28th 2008 4:59PM
i lol'd
i still get a kick when i read the old posts of what the PS3 COULD HAVE been :(
It would have been on giant pile of amazing glorious gaming tech *tear
Then they went and nerfed the shit out of it
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 5:03PM
I know what you mean... it was suposed to be the most advanced console with the most amazing graphics... but it's not different from the 360.
Sony sure now how to kill a brand...

"... now you're getting your ass kicked by the Wii..."
=p
LaughingTarget @ May 28th 2008 5:03PM
They didn't nerf anything out of it, well, except maybe the second HDMI port and 7 controller support. The PS3 was always an unbalanced piece of technology but hyped up well beyond what it was, an equal to a console that came out a year earlier. It's not a good sign when the CPU needs to dedicate processing cycles just to handle what the antiquated GPU should have been doing.
Neptune @ May 28th 2008 5:31PM
Laughingtarget I have to correct you a bit there. PS3 does support seven controllers.
LaughingTarget @ May 28th 2008 5:42PM
Then why does the dashboard only have 4 graphical indicators?
Neptune @ May 28th 2008 5:47PM
Most likely to use less space in the controller. But the 5th-7th controller slots are shown combining the four graphical indicators. So controller 5 would be shown as 4 + 1.
At least that is what the manual said. Also IIRC the slots are for all bluetooth devices.
LaughingTarget @ May 28th 2008 5:55PM
Ah, the manual. I never read those things. Still, we won't see 7 player games, which means it might as well not be there.
Neptune @ May 28th 2008 6:28PM
I think some sports games supported seven controllers, not sure. But yeah four is usually more than enough.
syrik zero @ May 28th 2008 4:36PM
That will be fun!
Benny @ May 28th 2008 4:36PM
*yawn*
I don't want to wear crappy goggles/glasses/whatever while playing a game. Until we get holographic television sets, I'm not feeling this sort of tech.
sicsided @ May 28th 2008 4:52PM
look into panasonic (I believe it is them) television sets. They have something cooking
[.sm0ke.] @ May 28th 2008 4:40PM
I'd trade the 3D for head tracking. Not like I care about Avatar to begin with, but still.
Jason @ May 28th 2008 4:52PM
I totally agree. Last time I went to a 3-D movie (Superman Returns) it didn't work for me, nothing looked 3-D and I just ended up with a headache. I think its a gimmicky waste of time.
voodoo_craig @ May 28th 2008 4:47PM
I'm assuming this is the same Real 3D you get at cinemas ie proper glasses and full colour.
If it is then I have one thing to ask for, 3D Guitar Hero/Rock Band! Imagine the fret boards coming out at you!
NATO_Duke @ May 28th 2008 4:47PM
Damn. I was hoping for full holographic games...and a flying car. Lets get on that!
Oh, the ads are bad at the site today. :(
PojoMofo @ May 28th 2008 4:47PM
no thanks, ill pass

What the fuck? Why I see hummingbirds everytime I click the reply button?
Jhongerkong @ May 28th 2008 4:57PM
Lay off the drugs?
Jhongerkong @ May 28th 2008 4:56PM
If the original Avatar game was horrible, then I cant even fathom how bad the movie based game will be.
Jason @ May 28th 2008 5:01PM
I don't think this is based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. But I still don't hold out much hope.
Drago Dracini @ May 28th 2008 5:02PM
>.> There was an Avatar game before this?
Benny @ May 28th 2008 5:06PM
It's not about the little bender! :P
The film is James Cameron's next sci-fi epic.
Jhongerkong @ May 28th 2008 5:13PM
Really? Damn, I always thought it was about the cartoon...
See, this is what happens when you play Gears of War and watch Hello Kitty at the same time; your mind gets dazed and contuzed
arrrgh @ May 28th 2008 5:32PM
I'm always contuzed :(
Drago Dracini @ May 28th 2008 5:03PM
All of us are aware, this is not the same thing as Avatar the Last Airbender... right?
LaughingTarget @ May 28th 2008 5:05PM
The Last Airbender is being done by M. Night Shyamalan. I keep wondering how that can get a twist ending.
I'm taking bets, who says there WON'T be a lame scene where the main character and/or villain sticks his hand out of the screen at the player for no good reason, just like every other 3D movie in existence?
Shmil @ May 28th 2008 5:34PM
Twist ending: Alan Moore wakes up from a horrible dream that was M. Knight Shamalamadingdong's movie.
HeZ @ May 28th 2008 5:13PM
I don't see how this game could use POLARIZED glasses on a standard (or LCD) TV, as this requires the light from the left eye's image to be polarized at 90 degrees to the light from the right eye's image.
CRTs do not produce polarized light, and ALL light from an LCD tv is always polarized in the same direction (This is a result of how the LCD TVs produce color)
Most likely it will have to use ANALGLYPHIC glasses, which are the old fashion red/blue type 3d glasses.
Re-Reading the referenced article it says they have the game running on an XBOX360 with polarized glasses at the studio. I would assume that they have some sort of special display hardware that supports this.
Archr5 @ May 28th 2008 6:57PM
http://www.edimensional.com/news/pr-lcd.htm
My guess is it has something to do with these "it works with LCD's. Swearsies." glasses.
But I immediately thought the same thing. (trying to watch the 3D bits of Blue Harvest Family Guy on my LCD TV exposed me to the fact that LCD's + 3D glasses = headache and no 3D effect.
arrrgh @ May 28th 2008 5:31PM
HAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAHAH
MUUUUCH better pic!!@!@!!! kudos stiq!
Mr.ESC @ May 28th 2008 6:44PM
Guards increase your numbers!
Naruto was alright so Avatar could be good as well.
Jenga @ May 28th 2008 8:52PM
There exists a hyundai television has polarized filters that alternate (with the vertical lines of resolution) which direction the light is polarized in. This makes it possible to used passive polarized glasses (as seen at movie theaters that display 3D movies). It works great and we have one at work. That said, they can't require people to buy new TVs that presently only are out in Japan to play this game so I assume that cameron is saying that they have a polarized setup at ubisoft but that they will be making a new peripheral in conjunction with the game that works in a different way thereby not requiring a new TV. My guess? Affordable, wireless shutter frame glasses that block left and right eye frames in sync with the console.
