Beyond Good & Evil 2 revealed at Ubidays 2008

Closing out the Ubidays 2008 live conference, CEO Yves Guillemot left the audience with one final teaser: the next project from designer Michel Ancel. While the trailer stops short of naming its subject, we'd recognize that schnozzle anywhere. Why that's Uncle Pey'j of course! And look at dear Jade, she's gone and grown out her hair.

I thought the first one didn't sell well enough to warrant a sequel. I'm glad that sales figures don't seem to be keeping number 2 from getting made though. Better reward them with higher sales this time around, if the game is good.

Well you see Bananaboat, what had happened wuz that during the development of Rayman 4, a renengade/rogue/ evil-genius designer on Ancel's team noticed that with the wii remote and some of the gameplay elements in place, the game could be retooled into a fun party game. He took his idea to the higher ups at Ubisoft who greenlit the idea and work quickly began on Rayman Raving Rabbids canceling out Rayman 4.
Pissed that his game was taken from him in a rather underhanded fashion, Ancel threw a hissyfit and threatened to leave Ubisoft unless they gave him the resources to work on whatever project he wished and that Ubisoft could not meddle with the project in any way, shape or form aside from greenlighting or denying the project when Ancel brought it to them.
This project was Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Hopefully the trailer has a wider color pallet than the screens suggest... Original was such a beautiful game in every aspect of the word.

If the trailer is the same vid shown at UbiDays, it all takes place as those screenshots. Its a little short, akin to the rabbid videos, about Pey'j snorting a bug up his snout while he and Jade are stranded.

Pey'js voice sounds different in a not-good way too, though just a teaser. Still can't wait to find out more, going to have to play the original again... If I can manage to find a GCN memory card with 50 free blocks, back of the box lies!

tmacairjordan87: I'm not awfully good with these things (and the low res doesn't help) but that video looks more like FMV than in-game graphics which would leave the way open for a Wii version. Anyone that can prove me wrong please do so.
Whether this would be the same version as the 360/PS3/PC or a different one I wouldn't like to guess but I can't see Ubisoft (one of the companies who have had a fair bit of success on the Wii) not creating a version for the market leading console unless it is technically impossible.
Not that I care too much as right now all gamers should be holding hands and to that coca cola song.

Even if it was a FMV clip and assuming it was in the game, could the wii even run a clip like that with that quality? I may be wrong but I don't recall seeing anything that comes close.
Either way last week or the week before when it was leaked that this game was being worked on by a few guys, I'm almost positive the creator said it was gonna be ps3/360 only.

Wow, Obnoxious fanboy alert.
He's talking about the quality of the video, which would obviously be limited by the capacity of the disc and the amount of data that can be streamed from it at any one time.
So I'm afraid to inform you, but the original poster is probably right. The Wii likely couldn't play a video file that long at that high a quality; it would likely be reduced in quality / compressed somewhat.

Screw that. Free Radical is probably working on Timesplitters 4 now. All we can do is hope to god Haze isn't the start of a downward trend for the company.
