BioShock surfaces on PS3 this October
During the month of Halloween, you PlayStation 3 owners will finally have the opportunity to wield blunt instruments and bludgeon a pack of masked weirdos. Especially if they're between you and a PS3 copy of BioShock, which has been slated for release in October.
Having wrenched free from its Xbox 360 and Windows exclusivity, the waterlogged dystopia sim hopes to win those Game of the Year awards all over again, especially with the aid of "new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms." We're not sure what developer 2K Marin plans to add, but we hope it's less upsetting than our idea of SixAxis-powered Little Sister shakin'.

Awesome. If it's as short as people say it is, this will make a great weekend rental.
I can't wait to check it out, I just hope the hype hasn't ruined the experience.
Ten Dolla Bill @ May 28th 2008 11:39AM
Who says it's short?
N @ May 28th 2008 11:44AM
It really isn't short, but it isn't particularly long either. It can be beat in 10 hours, but that's if you ignore all the good stuff. This game begs for exploration; the atmosphere is the best part of the game IMO. If you limit yourself to a weekend rental you're going to miss out on a great experience...
why not the LS2LS7? @ May 28th 2008 11:47AM
It's short. It's not Heavenly Sword short or Crackdown short, but it's short. Especially since the fun ends at the "bodyguard" level even though the game continues.

I got around 12 hours in I think, that's around the usual length for an FPS though.
N @ May 28th 2008 11:53AM
I didn't read any of those threads but one's definition of "too short" is pretty different. For example, I found Oblivion too short - simply because I didn't want it to end!
Now if you're worried that BioShock is 5 hours long... don't worry, it'll (probably) take you at least 15 hours on a first playthrough if you explore the environments a bit, making sure to nab all the Little Sisters and grabbing up the VERY intriguing diaries.
Vcize @ May 28th 2008 2:15PM
Bioshock definitely is not short. For an FPS it's actually pretty long. Bordering on too long, but not quite. FPS' just don't work as 30 hour per playthrough games.
peteH @ May 28th 2008 11:36AM
Cool, hope you PS3ers enjoy the game, and maybe give us one in return :)
Obie @ May 28th 2008 11:39AM
I'll trade you one Bioshock for a MGS4?
Go fish!
The Sound @ May 28th 2008 12:10PM
How 'bout Haze?
D=
Just kidding. how about LittleBigPlanet? That game needs to (should) be enjoyed by everyone.
StrangeBum @ May 28th 2008 12:16PM
I would agree with both Obie and The Sound.
I would love MGS4 to come to the 360 at some point. But I would also really love LBP even though it doesn't look too amazing, I think the XBL community would be great with it.
/2cents
Jamesology @ May 28th 2008 1:17PM
OMG what is this 360 and PS3 users getting along? lol, but yeah Littlebigplanet for Bioshock and Gears of War 2 for MGS4.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ May 28th 2008 11:41AM
It's cool to see this game reaching a larger audience, I loved playing through this on my 360. Hopefully Bioshock 2 hits both systems at the same time.
koehler83 @ May 28th 2008 11:42AM
Pics at 1280x720 or 19020x1080 or it didnt (and shouldn't) happen.
koehler83 @ May 28th 2008 11:43AM
*ahem* 1920x1080
Thanks for that EDIT button btw Joystiq
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ May 28th 2008 11:45AM
I'm glad there isn't an edit button, then you would have people editing posts when they realized they said something totally wrong. It would ruin epic posts as well. What they need is some sort of system that detects double posts.
ill trooper @ May 28th 2008 11:52AM
It's like the wild west, you gotta mean what you say
Benny @ May 28th 2008 12:14PM
It would be nice to have a one-minute grace period for editing. So many times I hit "Add Your Comments" and then realise a silly spelling error.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ May 28th 2008 12:27PM
I think a one minute grace period or until someone replies would be good. Then you would be able to edit spelling errors and such.
Vcize @ May 28th 2008 2:17PM
Benny, tell me that was on purpose...
Wii60Warrior @ May 28th 2008 11:55AM

kbomb1upc @ May 28th 2008 11:59AM
Wow... So do you usually use lubrication?
Noshino @ May 28th 2008 12:02PM
why would he? he likes it rough
samfish @ May 28th 2008 12:06PM
Rough is the only way to go. I like it REAL rough myself, with whips and chains and collars and scalding hot candle wax.
rc @ May 28th 2008 12:45PM
What an ignorant asshole you are. The ignorant shit that spews from that hole in your face drops the IQ of the whole site by 50 points. Shut up asshole.
Lekko @ May 28th 2008 6:24PM
I miss thanksgiving ;.;
kbomb1upc @ May 28th 2008 11:57AM
I might play this just as long as this doesn't turn out to be a "Lost Planet or Half-Life" port.
And secondly why doesn't 2K Games like the PS3? This is coming out late for the PS3 and Fight Prize (the boxing game) is not scheduled to come out on the PS3. And what happened to LA Noire?
Kizzle @ May 28th 2008 12:03PM
Probably because the PS3 sucks?
::ducks::
Jake11 @ May 28th 2008 12:10PM
according to the rumor mill on 1up, LA Noire is coming to PS3 and 360
dark_inchworm @ May 28th 2008 12:12PM
Why would anyone like the PS3?
lol flamebait
The Sound @ May 28th 2008 12:15PM
I don't think they specifically said they 'hated' the PS3 (I think 'ole Gabe is the only one who truly said that) I just think that they didn't have enough experience or weren't up to par on their programming for it, and waited until they did.
They have had job listings for PS3 programmers for a year or so now, that may be why.
StrangeBum @ May 28th 2008 12:22PM
Yeah I remember reading somewhere that LA Noire was coming to the 360 as well. Which really excited me as it was one game that truly had me feeling a little jealous over PS3 owners.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ May 28th 2008 12:29PM
I don't get why you would think a system sucks, they all have great games out for them. Fanboys are pathetic, they can't afford all 3 systems so they have to attack the ones they don't own to feel good about their purchase. I mean can you honestly say that if you had the extra cash you wouldn't buy the system you hate so much?
Wii60Warrior @ May 28th 2008 12:33PM
LOL that last comment made my day
Typical arrogant sony fanboys...
So how exactly did you reach this grand conclusion that all fanboys can't afford all systems?
Maybe its because the ps3 is garbage to begin with and has no positives other than Bluray that is holding people back from buying it?
You are truly an arrogant asshole. I make plenty of paper. I just don't want nor need to waste the money on the black behomoth of a machine that just happens to play games.
Just like in general gamers come from many different groups both socially and economically. It may be true that some gamers can't afford to buy all of them. But there are a lot who CAN but choose not to.
For me buying a Wii and a 360 is completely 100% satisfying my gaming needs.
The ps3 has nothing and deserves nothing except hate and to be shitted on.
Nice try though.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ May 28th 2008 12:39PM
Yup, I'm a HUGE Sony fanboy...well except for the fact that I own 3 games on my PS3 compared to 15+ for my Wii and 15+ for my 360. Or maybe it's the fact that I only play my PS3 a lot less then my 360? You can't honestly tell me that there isn't a game you want to play that's on a system you don't own.
CTC XBL-supapaypamawio PSN-ctclaw @ May 28th 2008 12:49PM
How did I reach my conclusion? Because you fanboys attack the systems you don't own for no reason at all. Why do you care so much that someone is enjoying MGS4 and you're not? All 3 systems have great games, just because you don't have one of them doesn't mean you have to attack it. So you don't want to play MGS4, LBP, GT5, and whatever else Sony has coming out, good for you, enjoy your other systems. I use to only have a 360 and a Wii, and I enjoyed them both. Then I wanted some of the games on the PS3 so I bought that. You didn't see me pointlessly attacking the PS3 just because I didn't have one.
cc123 @ May 28th 2008 12:53PM
"The Wii60Warrior has nothing and deserves nothing except hate and to be shitted on."
Fixed.
N @ May 28th 2008 11:58AM
If I have a PS3 by the time this hits, and the new content is substantial enough, I'd easily buy it again. I love BioShock.
googoogachoo @ May 28th 2008 12:04PM
3rd party console exclusives are a son of a bitch for people who just like gaming. It's a great game with outstanding atmosphere. It doesn't really do anything new, as you could probably get through the game just fine regardless of what plasmids you equip and use. It's just a great game that should be played once or twice.
The ps3 owners can now file overhyped Haze into that average or mediocre FPS category that even the 360 has plenty of. With Bioshock and CoD4, Two of the best FPS games out on consoles are multiplatform. Fun for all.
SuicideNinja @ May 28th 2008 12:45PM
That's good news for PS3 owners. This is an experience they shouldn't miss. It's a hard sell to buy these games twice for multisystem owners though.
Supino @ May 28th 2008 1:34PM
