Raving Rabbids TV Party, for use with balance board, coming this winter
Those wascally wabbits are back. Ubisoft has announced Raving Rabbids TV Party, due out this holiday season for the Nintendo Wii and DS. Said the press release, "The Rabbids plan to invade televisions worldwide, providing players with a variety of games and comedic exploits spoofing TV shows, pop culture and even advertisements."
As was hinted in a recent video (embedded after the break), TV Party will make use of the Wii balance board. Early screenshots indicate the balance board is not required for every game, but will involve sitting on the board and shaking your butt. Said CEO Yves Guillemot, "The inclusion of the Wii Balance Board into the game was a huge source of inspiration for our development team and I guarantee you will see the Wii Balance Board used in ways that will be surprisingly unexpected!" More details are to come at this year's E3.

I could watch rabbid videos all day....
TrojanGuy @ May 28th 2008 2:21PM
Yeah, they're an irresistible mix of cute and funny.
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 1:24PM
I liked the first two Rabbids games... hope this game adds online play.

Now that 'BRAWL and 'KART have been released, there's no reason for the majority of Wii games from this point forth having online multiplayer and/or texting & mic functionality. It's got bluetooth, why not use it for(mute-ready)voice chat?

So that's already 3 Rabbid games in 2 years, across 5 or 6 platforms. Who are you guys, Activision?
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 1:27PM
But now is a Nintendo exclusive... the 360 version sucks.
It needs Wii remote...
baby sea tuna @ May 28th 2008 1:30PM
As far as I'm concerned, all of the RRR games are of middling quality, regardless of the platform.
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 1:33PM
Yes... I mean, Rabbids was the first mini-game game on the Wii, and at least is fun, characters are appealing, and the graphics are not that bad.
But what I mean is, I prefer this series over shovelware minigames like Gameparty or any other minigames compilations from unknow developers.
baby sea tuna @ May 28th 2008 1:38PM
I agree with you there.
I had fun with the first Rabbids, but the shine wore off really quickly. The second was just more of the same. They're good characters though, so maybe this one will be more appealing to me.
...not that I have a balance board or anything, anyway.
Noshino @ May 28th 2008 1:38PM
I prefer a complete game over a compilation of minigames

Me too, remember our talk about RPG's? But if they are going to do minigames, at least make a good quality game.
I don't buy minigames compilations and that kind of games, but this is the only minigame series that I like, specially because of the Rabbids.
Mr.ESC @ May 28th 2008 1:45PM
Actually I liked the xbox 360 version but I bought the Ps2 version first.
The rabbids are awesome but isn't time for a platformer? I mean the franchise is called Rayman Raving Rabbids after all.
The first was refreshing but when you turn it into a franchise microgames get old too fast,I really want a platformer with the rabbids.
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 1:50PM
Mr ESC
I'm pretty sure that they will do a Rabbids game someday. Well, I hope.
3 itinerations of minigames is enough.

It looks fun

Seeing you on here just reminded me, there was a screenshot from Joystiq's R* Houser interview from a week or so back in Screwattack's "Hard News" that had your avatar (and Co's) at the top of the thread.
Just thought you'd like to know.
Lijik @ May 28th 2008 1:37PM
Sweet, they're finally considered a separate franchise from Rayman. I wonder though, now that Rayman is no longer in the title, who will try to stop the Rabbids?
*secretly hopes Ubisoft revives the main character from Tonic Trouble*
Mr.ESC @ May 28th 2008 1:48PM
Oh man Tonic Trouble was one of my favorite games back in the day and the translation in Castellano only added more lulz.

Christ, this is exactly like a next gen version of the first level in Tonic Trouble. Ed better be in the game.
Mike @ May 28th 2008 1:45PM
Wow, "surprisingly unexpected"
As opposed to something you expect surprising you, or something so expected, it's surprising.
dark_inchworm @ May 28th 2008 2:04PM
Curses! You beat me to the smartass remark!
Mr.ESC @ May 28th 2008 1:51PM
I have to say that they improved the graphics a bit and using the wii board as snowboard or a yak board was a great idea but how much weight can the Wii fit board support?
Fernando Rocker @ May 28th 2008 1:54PM
350 pounds or 150/160 kgs.
Mr.ESC @ May 28th 2008 2:15PM
Dammit I wanted to buy a Wii fit for Jabba the Hutt. His birthday is coming soon you know, well I better check something else.
religiousjedi @ May 28th 2008 2:12PM
Shaking my butt on the Balance Board?
I'm intrigued...
Robocod @ May 28th 2008 2:30PM
One can stick the wiiboard up your ass for all I care.
Every single fucking Rayman fan, myself included, will be disappointed I'm sure.
Ken Seang @ May 28th 2008 3:38PM
I want to see a full length CGI movies for these bunnies already...
