THQ delays Saints Row 2 until October 14

According to Reuters, THQ cited marketing issues and product quality as the reasons for the delay, making us hope that the nearly two extra months of development will give Volition enough time to stamp out those remaining bugs. Additionally, while THQ believes that the delay will not have a negative impact on the company's fiscal 2009 performance, given the publisher's recent pink slip party and $35.3 million loss in fiscal 2008, there's really nowhere else to go but up.

Well with GTA IV having perfect scores all over the places they better delay it and at least try to make it better. The first one was good but GTA was amazing and so far what I have seen from Saints Row does not impress me

Good. GTA4, as good as it was, still had some things it should have learned from Saint's Row and didn't - namely the targeting system. But hey, at least they swiped the GPS.
Sick of retards ripping this game for the "thug setting." It's done in a humorous fashion anyway, if you think the game was supposed to be "serous" you're a clueless putz.
Just play the goddamn game. SR was fantastic.

Agreed 110%. GTA4 has quite a few things in it that Saint's Row brought to the table,but since it doesn't have "Rockstar" across the box people immediately take a shit on it.

I think it's not because people are clueless, it's because the whole gangstah "scene" or whatever is so ridiculous (while still taking itself seriously) that nobody can actually tell whether someone is acting like that in a satirical manner or whether they're for real.
Or to put it this way: trying to make fun of a "thug" by imitation is like trying to make fun of a clown.

I'm sorry but this game doesn't even have euphoria, so it's automatically an instant failure. I can't describe how big a difference euphoria makes in GTA 4 and I just can't go back to lame last gen ragdoll.

Saints Row was significantly better than any GTA game before.
Significantly.
But, while I can see arguments that it is more fun than GTA4, it feels positively last-gen in comparison.
As for the writing, yes, its writing was terrible. But so were all the GTA3s.

I wasnt trolling. I just didnt feel the need to leave an editorial when "Saints Row >>> GTA" sums it up pretty nicely, and I didnt realize there were comment nazis who will leave dumbass replies for not commenting in their preferred style.
However if you nosey people must know, I got burnt out on GTA IV last week, started playing Saints Row today, and its a breath of fresh air. The driving is smoother, the shooting is easier, the missions dont all feel like i'm doing fifty errands for some irish or italians stereotypical scumbags. And just in general its waaaay more fun.
So there, you have your reasons and in the future dont tell me how to comment. If I want to give reasons i will and if I dont then I wont. Dont comment nazi me again.

While I don't agree with you I understand why some would find Saints Row to be more appealing.
To me its just the epitome of ignorance and all thats wrong with the black community. However I realize that its just a game. And at the end of the day this one game doesn't define black people or any minority.

Now that I read back on my post I sound like a douche. Born2kill wasn't trolling, but it's kind of hard to ignore it when someone starts out a comment with "Saints Row >>> GTA." In most cases when I've seen something like that, It's usually someone trolling or looking for a reason to start some shit.
I just see "Saints Row >>> GTA." type of comments equivalent to that of the someone who types "first post." Next time I'll be sure to keep in mind that everyone has a different way of typing. I apologize if I sounded like a Asshole and a comment Nazi. It won't happen again.

I dont like the stereotypical thug type stuff either, however Saints Row is so cheesy and over the top, that its actually really funny. Its almost like youre in a town full of wannabee Jamie Kennedys that are all doing their Malibu's Most Wanted impressions at the same time. And plus, theres alot of these Fast and the Furious type bad guys who all try to act so cool, but theyre really just goofy and cheesy and its impossible not to like it. Its almost like theyre doing a satire of San Andreas, and for the most part its very funny and the gameplay is totally unrealistic but fun.

Saint's Row had a lot of good elements to it. Yet, we live in a GTA world and anything that isn't made by Rockstar is looked at as garbage. Kinda like how JRPG fans hold Atlus and Square Enix in high regard but pan anything else. Competition makes good games. If GTA 4 was a rehash of what we saw in the early PS2 titles, it wouldn't be getting great reviews. There are things from Saint's Row that are in GTA 4. I know the "thug life" plot is a bit cheesy but it is good cheesy at least.

Gears of War 2 is an entirely different game style,so it's not like people have the choice between one or the other.
Also,Gears of War 2 is an exclusive while SR2 is multi-platform.

differnt style doesnt matter. People dont want to buy 2 games at once. They buy the better one. They buy the one they want to spend more time with.
Although you do have a point about GOW2 not being on ps3. so the sales on that console may be slightly higher.

Saint's Row was light years ahead of any GTA before it. Now,GTA4 is out and set the stage,so Saint's Row can either take it to the next level or sink.
I'm done seeing the letters "GTA" on the box and automatically think it's superior. Saint's Row stomped a hole in San Andreas,but it isnt as notorious to controversy so people don't even notice.
