Fei Long, Dan join Street Fighter IV home roster
Following this morning's news that the recently announced home versions of Street Fighter IV would come packing the extra punch of online play and an expanded cast, a new report confirms two familiar fighters who will be added to the game's hurricane kick beyond the arcade.
According to IGN, Japanese publication Famitsu Xbox released concept art illustrating Bruce Lee-inspired Fei Long and Alpha vet Dan Hibiki, adding that both fighters will be home version exclusives. While Fei Long certainly makes sense, the laughably weak Dan has always served more as comic relief, though we look forward to the hilariously drawn out Dan vs. Dan online throw downs to come when the game is eventually released.

Dan is the best Street Fighter character.
ManekiNeko @ May 30th 2008 9:17PM
We have a winner! Give that girl the stuffed bear!
Suiname @ May 30th 2008 10:41PM
if by best you mean worst, then yes Dan is the best street fighter character. I hope he has at least 3 different taunts.
Ty @ May 30th 2008 4:38PM
Why put in a joke character? At least Dan is decent character!
Batzarro(A.K.A Rap-Rock Cameo) @ May 31st 2008 8:43AM
Oooh: I see what you did there!
Kamizar @ May 30th 2008 4:42PM
You're not a real man until you beat the game with Dan...
Brandon @ May 30th 2008 4:43PM
what upsets me about the way SF4 is going, is that it's shaking down to be the same game we've been playing for over a decade.
I don't understand a need to constanty rehash the same crap over and over again. On a bright new shiny console, old characters in old environments doing old things just feels... old. Why would I want to spend 60 dollars on an old game?
If there is not at LEAST 8 new unique characters in this game, I'm calling it crapware.
Kye - Ludwig Defence Force @ May 30th 2008 5:15PM
Brandon, If Street fighter was anything else then it wouldn't be Street Fighter.
If they added finishing moves you would say it trying to be Mortal Kombat.
Weapons would make it Soul Calibur
Taking away Fireballs would liken it to Tekken
Flying = Dragon Ball Z
and so on.
Street Fighter does what it does well.
Let's not change it too much.
Brandon @ May 30th 2008 7:46PM
I guess that's my problem, Ludwig. I think Street fighter 2 and 3 are two of the few games available that stand the test of time. They don't need to be redone because they really can't be redone better. Or, at least, there's no reason for it to be redone.
There are songs out there that are the same way. Smells Like Teen Spirit IS what it was supposed to be. Nobody can do it better. And if you can't do it better, why redo it?
I own the street fighter aniversary collection and as a result I really feel no need to buy Street Fighter 4 if it's only going to be exactly what I already own but with polygons.
Zertoss @ May 30th 2008 4:44PM
Great! Now put Sonic and Megaman in it!
Mr.ESC @ May 30th 2008 6:21PM
What about Snake?
Zertoss @ May 30th 2008 7:10PM
Dan already has a Solid Snake in him.
PojoMofo @ May 30th 2008 4:47PM
I could have done with out both of these charactors, Dan is a putz in every sense of the word, and Fei Long is just a Bruce Lee wannabe
Atr-Slzr-Ctr @ May 30th 2008 4:50PM
Awesome, now Capcom, confirm Snake and Sonic!
Mr.ESC @ May 30th 2008 6:22PM
I hope the next time around we get Captain Planet and Bill Murray as unlockable characters.
XDragon @ May 30th 2008 4:56PM
So where's Akuma, Jun, Jang, Gill and Cammy?
Dan? WTF? What a waste of a character, a crap version of Ryu, Ken and Akuma. ...not that I'm a big fan of Fei but at least he's different.
colin @ May 30th 2008 9:33PM
no akuma???? that's not a good idea. taking away from us who distance ourselves from the ryu and ken fanboys, but still like the move set.
Count Noobula @ May 30th 2008 4:58PM
Seriously, Dan is not weak. I have owned many people in SFA 1,2, and 3 with him. His super moves are really powerful, and his version of the hurricane kick can be used as a huge surprise for everyone. The only thing lacking is his fireball, but oh well, Fei-Long doesn't get one of those. No complaints there then.
Kye - Ludwig Defence Force @ May 30th 2008 5:06PM
I agree, Dan isn't weak, he's just got a very short range.
Personally I wouldn't touch him with a stick, but in the hands of a skilled player he's deadly.
noskillbassist @ May 30th 2008 6:06PM
@Kye: That "in the hands of a skilled player he's deadly" statement applies to everything. Nitwit.
Batzarro(A.K.A Rap-Rock Cameo) @ May 31st 2008 8:56AM
"That "in the hands of a skilled player he's deadly" statement applies to everything. "
Servbot. That's all I'm saying.
doom saber @ May 30th 2008 5:05PM
One can view the concept art over at Kotaku, where Dan is depicted a bit on the chucky side(fat) while Fei long has more muscle on his upper body. Although, I would not be suprised if fat Dan is in the game (there is a concept art that is colored with several black and white ones that have him looking fat, I wonder if Capcom will use the fei long concept art in the final game.
pics of concept art are as follows:

Mr.ESC @ May 30th 2008 6:24PM
Well I don't know if you are aware of this but posting a link to Kotaku in Joystiq is a bigger offense than posting a link to Rickroll.
doom saber @ May 30th 2008 8:13PM
Is it? My bad.
Shimrra @ May 30th 2008 5:37PM
I dont get how they call this the "next" street fighter when it just seems like only a rehash of the last game. SF 3rd Strike was different enough in alot of areas alot of people either hated it for being so different but this one just doesnt seem interesting at all. The more they keep adding the same old characters the more this game gets boring.
xeleion @ May 30th 2008 6:10PM
Stop judging the game before you play it people.
Also... if Dan's in here, I want Sakura. And Garuda. And Karin.
ManekiNeko @ May 30th 2008 9:20PM
This game needs a little (intentional) comic relief, and Dan fits the bill nicely. He's a much better character than the boxer who looks like Adam Sessler or the excessively obese martial artist.
colin @ May 30th 2008 9:35PM
unfortunately you are still fired. gather your things, security will escort you out.
finaldarklord @ May 30th 2008 10:51PM
I think that Dan was a given, I'm actually surprised he wasn't in the arcade version. Fei Long I can't comment on, I was never a huge Fei Long player in either ST or A3 Upper.
I hope Cammy makes it in, she has a certain spin on the range game that I always liked using, plus I always liked her anyway. Guy would also be sweet, looking at the roster now there seems to be a distinct lack in the rush down department.
Akuma, not so much. Same with Sakura or even Sean. Lets try to limit the Shoto's to the original grand daddies this time. Dan is the obvious exception, and I don't even think of him as a Shoto to begin with anyway.
Jhongerkong @ May 31st 2008 1:26AM
GADOKEN!
richardwad1 @ May 31st 2008 5:25AM
I could beat any of you with Dan. I don't know why he gets labeled as weak. He actually has a few of the strongest moves in the alpha games.
Batzarro(A.K.A Rap-Rock Cameo) @ May 31st 2008 9:00AM
I'm surprised at Fei Long. Elena please?
keepitinmypants @ Jun 5th 2008 9:50PM
give us a bit of oro, his left hand only style is a right breath of fresh hair rather than the abused style of ryu,ken etc who most of the fanboys cant decide is shoto or kyokushin.
plus with the whole left hand thing theres a few dirty jokes to make.
ok im sorry.
