USK lists 'Galaga Legions' for Xbox 360
If you're like us, the arcade shooter Galaga is probably sitting on your Xbox 360's hard drive gathering virtual dust. Even so, that doesn't mean Namco-Bandai won't jump at the chance to try squeeze a few more Microsoft Points out of the old girl. Now, according to a posting by the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbskontrolle (USK), the German version of the ESRB, it looks like the publisher could be doing just that with a new title called Galaga Legions.
We know next to nothing about the game beyond the fact that it's a shooter, but that hasn't stopped speculation that Namco-Bandai, the publisher behind cherished arcade re-imagining Pac-Man: CE, could be giving the same treatment to another classic quarter muncher. The notion makes us giddy -- our hard drives can always use more quality games. It's the fodder for future delisting that we can do without.

No buy if it doesn't have the Galaga '99 theme tune from the Amiga version.

It would be neat if the green helicopter from DonPachi was featured as one of the Boss Galaga.

As much as I love Pac Man CE, I'm wondering if Namco isn't just gearing up for a "Collection: Championship Edition" that includes several games in the CE style. After all, there's no reason why Pac CE and this new Galaga can't run on stuff other than the 360... I imagine that once we get updated versions of Dig Dug, Rally-X, and something else (Mappyland maybe?), we'll see a $30 port land on the Wii and PS3. (totally talking out of my ass on this one, but it would be nice)
Come to think of it, I like this style of rehashing old games. Every ten years or so, go back and re-imagine the original concept with an eye towards improving it. Pac-Man, Pac-Man Arrangement, and now CE... that's not a bad pedigree right there.

The only arcade game that I want on XBLA right now is an HD version of Space Invaders Extreme (DS/PSP). It is hands down the best version of Space Invaders ever created.

There was the Galaga Evolved game on one of the PSP compilations. They will prbably use that. It sucked.
Sorry but whatever you do to Galaga other than changing the sprites with the exact same game code will not be Galaga.
Still the best arcade game ever made.
