Gone are the days when arcades represented the superior video game experience. While a part of us may cry coin operated tears at this realization, Capcom is quick to remind us that there is even more fun to be had at home, or at least there will be when the recently announced domesticated flavor of Street Fighter IV is released for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Speaking in an interview with Japan's Weekly Famitsu, producer Yoshinori Ono revealed that the home version of the upcoming fighter will include features not found in the arcade original, among them online play and exclusive characters.
As we've come to expect from our Street Fighter IV news, Ono offered few specifics, saying only that the team is "watching the overall balance" in designing additions to the home version's roster. He added that the devs "won't be adding unnecessary stuff" to the online experience, dashing our dreams of an internet thumb war between Blanka and Chun Li.

This game sums up everything wrong with the Wii.
- Poor controller.
- Poor hardware.
- Poor 3rd party support.
Conclusion: The PS3 will win.

What on earth does this news have to do with the Wii? If it's that the game isn't being released on the Wii then you have a very poor argument.

He was trolling but I see his point. Or at least I was able to derive a point from his trolling.
The Wii is obviously making more money and will "win" the console war of this gen. The controls spark imagination and innovation yes, but at what price? Shovelware and lack of traditional controls destroy a chance for Nintendo fans to enjoy certain types of games. In this case: fighting games.

I hope some Arcade stick controllers get released in time for this, in the vein of the old PS2 SF edition stuff from a few years back. Except you know better.

Okay, art nerd challenge accepted...
Take a look at the ab region... SWEET SHIT! It LOOKS like a faily low res normal map. Actually, scrath that, it looks like a horrible bump map. Something definitively greyscale sculting the geometry there. Because rather than looking like the normal map was generated from high res geometry, it looks like they just decided to randomly pull chunks out of his meat...
The arm itself doesn't connect in the armpit... in fact it seems like the muscle tissue above the biceps is the only thing attaching his limbs.
The sash around his waste contours to the body geometry too closely. In other words, the clothes are "painted on" which was unacceptable for a 3D artist when FFVIII hit the scene, imagine how poorly it reflects now.
The hands appear monstrous rather than well manicured. Yes, Vega had long fingernails, but his hands look like hell there.
The ornamentation on his arms appear flat with practically no real sense of being garish metal of an egomaniac.
I could go on about the lack of details in the tattoo, etc. But I think I'll finish it up like this...
This is Vega...

That above? Looks like a rush job to fill out a roster.

Ok...
1. nerd?
2. The art style in this game is clearly going for something different than from the pictures you provided.
The game depicts bulky stalky characters much like how the (spin-off series) Alpha depicted younger wider humanoid figures in that game... It just wouldnt look right for Vega to be the only slim figure in the game.
Its like trying to put a sf3rd strike character in the alpha series, that's clearly not what they are going for...
I hated the sf1 and 2 and 3 artwork too, (I prefer the MvC to any) but you dont see me complaining.
Also...I could say "this is vega too" it doesn't matter wtf I think vega should look like...only Akira Nishitani (designer) should really have any say in what any SF fighter should REALLY LOOK LIKE.

Playing devil's advocate a moment, while all the issues you point out are accurate flaws, I am *really* hoping that:
1) This is an early/unpolished model?
2) The screenshot is taken at a bad angle, causing the cel shader rendering filter they use to make the abs look horrible?
3) He has the same horrible genetic shoulder dislocation disease that the female mage from World of Warcraft suffers from: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/wallpapers/wallpaper51.html
But yeah, Vega has been and always will be my favorite Street Fighter character, so I am hoping they do him a little more justice than this.

Yeah, jtemna, nerd. I'm a 3D artist by trade so I see things slightly differently from just staring. And considering I identified the surface rendering effects as a greyscale map rather than a full RGB spectrum normal map issue, I'd say that qualifies me as a nerd... Judging from the shot above, I can also tell you how the UVs are mapped...
Anyway, your arguements about fighting the art style would make sense except for this...
http://www.siliconera.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/sfiv.jpg
Here's why this screenshot from the same project destroys your argument. Notice the muscles on Ryu have a much higher amount of definition given in addition to the normal mapping being much high detailed than what is shown here. Likewise the Gi itself and the bandana are actually geometry rather than painted on in the texture and allowing a bump to give a ridge. There is also no flatness to Ryus muscles and although he suffers from missing arm bits syndrome as well, it's nowhere near as offensive.
I'll give benefit of the doubt and write this one off as an early preview look but this Vega doesn't even come close to the quality shown in the other models. Even the recently unveiled ones like M. Bison and Sagat.

Exactly what i've been saying. Where are the parts of this that can't be done on Wii?

(I know this comment has nothing to do with Street Fighter 4, but...)
If the PS2 can last 8 years. (Which is weaker then the Wii) Then why can't the Wii? I know, i know, the Wii needs more 3rd party support. But, 3rd party developers just make the same excuses over and over.
"The Wii doesn't have enough graphical power. So we can't make games for it"
"People who own a Wii, don't play the same games that people who own a XB360/PS3 do" (HELLO! Wii60 and Wii3. lol I'm pretty sure if those types of games were made for the Wii. People would play them.)
Bullshit! They can make good high quality games for the Wii that are built from the ground up. They just don't wanna try. IMO, I think developers are just too spoiled by all of this HD super duper realistic graphics bs. (I'm sorry for my rant. Wrong place for this.)
Anyway, I don't like Street Fighter 4. It's ugly. An I know I'm not the only one that feels that way.

Screw arcade sticks, us D-pad players need some love too! The 360 pad is HORRIBLE. Capcom should just buy the technology behind the Saturn pad and put out a controller for ever system that uses it.

I'd say Viper looks like she wandered away from the KOF XII project before it got started. Probably following Mapquest. Looked around, realized her mistake, and proceeded to say "Fuck it, I'm here now."

My translator gave me a slightly different perspective on your story, and noted that there were considerations on additional content, but not exclusive to home audiences.

In an interview, the director specifically cited he'd like Sakura and Ibuki. But...wasn't Sakura schoolgirl in Alpha? she'd either be a time traveller or a gowth stunted woman in SF4.
