Wal-Mart offering $100 gift card with PS3 purchase

We've received documentation from one of our reliable sources that the $100 gift card Walmart.com is currently offering with the purchase of a PS3 isn't the whole story. According to images shown us (one of which we've placed after the break) from the "Wal-Mart Wire," between June 1-7 Wal-Mart stores will give a $100 gift card to customers who purchase a PS3. The interesting part is that the following week, June 8 - 15, many Blu-ray players will offer the $100 gift card, and this apparently also includes the PS3.

The kicker here is if you're looking to pick up a PS3 with your purchase of Metal Gear Solid 4, the smart money would be to pick up the 80GB PS3 MGS4 bundle available June 12 because you'll get a $100 gift card out of the deal. Sure, you could be all about the Wal-Mart hate, but we'd take the free $100.

MGS 4 is releasing in 2 weeks and they are moving the excess 60 GB and 80 GB versions to make room for the new bundle ...

I would bet any amount of money that no matter what Sony did or said you would try to spin it in a bad way and call everyone who disagrees a PS3 Tard ...

I recently bought an LG Front loading steam washer & dryer as well as a nice giant fridge from LG as well
and the only reason I got 10% off and a gift card is because it happened to be a special promotion ... it had nothing to do with desperation or panic ... My guess is its the same thing here with wally world

Might end up taking advantage of this for Father's Day; since my dad's been dropping hints about wanting a blu-ray player...

I just called my local walmart and they said that in stores, this will only apply until June 7th. The guy I spoke to didn't know about online.

Does this apply to Canadian Walmarts as well???

You know, it figures that I'll be getting back from vacation on June 7th, right when this promo ends. There's no way I'll have time to cash my stimulus check and get out to WalMart to take advantage of it.

That $100 gift card would buy me MGS4 and a Dual Shock 3 for $15! UGH!

Walmart will cash your stimulus check free of charge (up to $2900, I think).
And Walmart ads drop weekly, so anyone you talk to in a store either doesn't know about it (more likely) or won't/can't tell you (less likely).

I already have a PS3, but maybe it's time for another one for my other room with a high def tv. Heck, 298.00 for the machine and I can pick up 4 blu-rays or a couple of games at the same time. This is a great promotion from Walmart for the PS3, not to mention for blu-ray (all blu-ray players qualify). Walmart has just begun carrying the Magnavox new blu-ray player, final profile, at $298, so a person could get the player really for $198 and pick up 3-4 blu-ray discs. Great promotion.

Does anyone know the release process at Walmarts that are open 24hrs? Do they in fact release the products at Midnight? I need to ready my gameplan!

I called Walmart Wednesday night, June 4th, and they said their store and online service are separate, even though, ironically, you can have an item shipped to a store. "Site to Store" is the name of the program. (the link is http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=538452) All I have to find out is if that gift card is available after June 7th and applicable to the mgs4 bundle. I'm eyeing either wal-mart, or circuit city, or toys'r'us 'cause they're the only ones besides circuit city taking pre-orders.

Lemme know how that turns out.

so...does anyone know yet if this will include the MGS4 bundle on the 12th? Cause I've heard the deal goes till the 15th...

Hey Guys - I was so excited about the 80GB release with the $100 gc, but I just called 2 different Walmarts today and was told that the new 80gb bundle does NOT include the $100 gc deal!!! I protested but got nowhere, has anyone else heard this??? Thanks

Just bought an MGS4 PS3 bundle at WalMart in Michigan with the $100 giftcard included. In fact, when the register rang up the PS3 package during the checkout, it said something like "promotion eligible", so the discount card seems to be working.

Oops...I meant promotion gift card, not discount card. And the cashier knew all about the promotion, so it wasn't a case of a dumb salesperson getting duped by the consumer.
