360 Fanboy shows us real ultimate power with Ninja Gaiden II demo impressions
We can think of a lot of great things to sell our souls for, such as telekinesis, a swimming pool full of hundred dollar bills, or a seventh season of Mr. Belvedere. However, Xbox 360 Fanboy's Richard Mitchell (or as we like to call him around the office, Rich Mitch) recently showed his undying love for scarved ninjas by dealing with Beelzebub to get his hands on an early copy of the Ninja Gaiden II demo. Judging by the tone of his impressions as he plays the first seven minutes of the preview, it was totally worth it.
We strongly advise watching the above video -- not only will it get you totally pumped for the quickly approaching June 3 release date for the title, but you can also witness Rich Mitch's incredible proclivity for ninja flipping and henchman dismemberment.

Looks better than Sigma.
There is AA and more enemies, blod, speed but still... I'm a little dissapointed.
I was expecting that they do something that only upgrade X-box 1 engine.
Tiptup300 @ May 31st 2008 5:57PM
My car works perfectly. Should go fix it!?
el serpiente @ May 31st 2008 8:13PM
No, but you also shouldn't pay for it twice.
HighFiveJesus @ May 31st 2008 8:22PM
visually, no. sigma is 1080 p at 60 fps, gaiden 2 is reported to be at 585p (oh no, not HIGH DEFH!!). substance wise, yeah its different but apparently it isn't that much better or is being hailed as a better more evolved proper game. . so if sigma wasn't good enough for you, gaiden 2 shouldn't be either really.
HighFiveJesus @ May 31st 2008 8:27PM
if you do like sigma though, by all means, get 2.
Anonim @ May 31st 2008 11:10PM
@HighFiveJesus
Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3 is
1280x720 ONLY. No AA.
The "1080" mode is simply software upscale.
With not exacly nice artefacts (read for examplr Eurogamer pre/review)
You might also look here
Ninja Gaiden: Sigma = 1280x720 (has weird scaling to support 1080p)
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241
Ninja Gaiden is also 1280x720 60fps but it has antyaliasing at least (but most X360 has it)
If I were suspicious man I would say you are spurting FUD with that 585p or you mistaken NG2 with Haze (Haze = 1024x576...
Anonim @ May 31st 2008 11:17PM
@HighFiveJesus
Hmm I diges a little and maybe you are right with that 585p (but not with Sigma it stays 720p ;) )
"1120x585 would be another type of anamorphic resolution, opposed to the other classic anamorphic 1024x600 use in some X360 (COD4, PGR3, Oblivion, TR...)
but there are little more pixel in 1120x585 than in 1024x600 and 1120x585 is the better use of the EDRAM space that i have seen."
Blergh....
So one more sub-HD game....
Full 720p - 1280x720 = 921,600 pixels
Some sub-HD games:
Lair - 800x1080 = 864,000 pixels
MGS4 - 1024x768 = 786,432 pixels
Metal Gear Online - 1024x768 = 786,432 pixels
GTA4 (PS3) - 1152x640 = 737,280 pixels
Halo3 - 1152x640 = 737,280 pixels
Dark Sector (PS3) - 1152x640 = 737,280 pixels
Call of Duty 4 (PS3 , X360) - 1024x600 = 614,400 pixels
Haze (PS3) - 1024x576 = 589,824 pixels
1120x585 = 655,200 pixels
At least more than COD4 and Haze
HighFiveJesus @ May 31st 2008 11:25PM
fair enough, i had 1080 p hammered in my head by all the press and that it was looking fa-bu-lous.
it DOES but i didn't realize it wasn't native.
superaktieboy @ Jun 1st 2008 3:38AM
looks good enough for me.. i only got one thing to say to Team Ninja: please give us a PS3 version
HighFiveJesus @ Jun 1st 2008 3:59AM
it was published by microsoft so not bloody likely. i wonder what kinda strings they pulled to even make the first one and as a ps3 exclusive no less. if this isn't all its cranked up to be, its going to make itakagi (whatever) look bad just because of the amount of shit he's been talking about anything ninja gaiden that isn't directly under his involvement.
J @ Jun 1st 2008 7:17AM
@ highfive
that would be ironic to see sigma get better reviews than ng 2 considering what you just said. He was a complete ass about it as if sigma was not worthy of having the ninja gaiden name, and I would love for him to eat his words... and his sunglasses.
while he deserves some credit since sigma IS a remake of a game he originally created, if he wants to be condescending, ng2 should NOT have scored lower. It is just like krazy ken was disliked because he talked big and didn't fully deliver (at least with the ps3)(even though i'm very happy with mine.)
wouldn't it be interesting if the sigma developers turn the tables and start critiquing itakagi's ng2 and say it's not good enough.
to be fair, had sigma not been developed, ng2 would've pwned.
HighFiveJesus @ Jun 1st 2008 1:07PM
yeah i'd like to see that. it might just mean he'll have to make a gaiden 3 and show all of us suckers whats for. that, or develop the next generation technology of bouncing breasts.
J @ Jun 1st 2008 10:33PM
@highfive
you're tone suggests that you are against next gen bouncing breasts... r u gay?
i'd rather have that than another ng sequel. next gen bouncing breasts, or NGBB, could become a universal engine to be used in future next gen games like the euphoria engine.
speaking breasts, killzone 2 needs some female characters.
ChooChooCharlie (MK 0430-8740-2222) @ May 31st 2008 5:13PM
So, hypothetically, if I wanted to get this demo early and was stateside and was thinking about creating an overseas account to do so, how would I be able to go about doing that? Or did MS close that loophole?
ChooChooCharlie (MK 0430-8740-2222) @ May 31st 2008 5:25PM
Nevermind. I think the comments section on X3F answered my question. Damn you, exclusivity!
Arttemis @ May 31st 2008 5:26PM
It's restricted to gold memberships for now. So unless you buy a subscription for that foreign account, you won't be able to download it for several days - at which point, I'm hoping it'll already by on the NA/Euro XBL servers.
Arttemis @ May 31st 2008 5:28PM
note - my previous post was referring to the Japanese demo that has already been made public, but is clearly not the demo shown in the video.*

Is there a move to shove a frisbee down your throat?
DssTrainer @ May 31st 2008 10:28PM
Meh... Ninja games are becoming too fantasy star like... The weapons are ridiculously large... where was Ryu hiding that sai?
This is what kild Kingdom Hearts too..
Bring us a good Tenchu Sequel!!
DssTrainer @ May 31st 2008 10:29PM
Sigma looks 10 times better because its less flashy and more about the gameplay.
Cyro @ May 31st 2008 10:40PM
What the fuck are you talking about ? Just get out man.
Just dont come in here and hate on this game. This is an excellent game and its 20 times better than Sigma. This one is way more action packed. So there is no way sigma is better.
The problem is that people just don't understand this game was made for the fans of the series. Also for the Hardcore. I don't believe it was made with the casual gamer in mind. Even though that was what microsoft wanted to sell to everyone, (so it would sell better than the first). Like for example that regeneration health thing, Totally unnecessary.
The first Ninja Gaiden didn't sell good, and probably this one wont sell like crazy either. But, hey thats ok, because those of us that did buy and finished it really loved the game and already have this game pre-ordered. Personally, DMC4 is a joke compared to this game gamplay and difficult wise.
NOT ME @ May 31st 2008 11:38PM
Im with cyro on this, the controls on all the NG games are better than any DMC and the fighting is a lot better, and rewarding
el serpiente @ Jun 1st 2008 11:25AM
DMC4=720p
NGII=585p
ChooChooCharlie (MK 0430-8740-2222) @ Jun 1st 2008 1:21PM
@ el serpiente
I'd rather have NG2 at 585p, than not have it at all. Enjoy your Sigma.
el serpiente @ Jun 2nd 2008 12:16AM
Nah, I'll be busy playing MGS4. NG is for angry teenagers.
DssTrainer @ Jun 1st 2008 12:58AM
Problem is you have no idea what the "FIRST" Ninja Gaiden was. You are referring to part 1 of this PS2/3 series.
Bring back Nintendo and Arcade Ninja Gaiden! Those sold like crazy.
Mike @ Jun 1st 2008 6:35AM
LOL i think that huge leap at the end would have killed even Ruy Hayabusa.
Jake @ Jun 1st 2008 11:52AM
LOL, 30FPS, 585p, and crippling load times...
Is that "real ultimate power"???
This game is a crock of sh1t, better off buying Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PS3..
Zeruel @ Jun 1st 2008 12:05PM
Ninja Gaiden II focuses on the core concept that makes hardcore gamers take notice of the game - its semi-deep combat and movement play. Being a Street Fighter player, I appreciate a game that has a combat system with some layers of depth. I also enjoy games that allows a player to have something visually entertaining for others to watch. Good Ninja Gaiden fighting very reactive, just like watching two expert players go at it in Super SF2 Turbo.
At first, I thought that some of the enemies Ryu will be fighting in NG2 looked a little ridiculous too. Then, thinking back, I recall that the older NES Ninja Gaiden games had tons of weird enemies (aliens, FLYING BIRDS, giant insects etc.). Maybe it's some sort of semi-homage to older games and their over the top enemy assortments? No matter what, the game throws ALOT of various enemies at you.
Ryan Hamilton @ Jun 1st 2008 2:11PM
mindless hack n slash disguised in pretty graphics and special moves.
rruss79 @ Jun 1st 2008 8:39PM
Sometimes Ryan you will find that keeping silent is best when what comes out of your mouth is something stupid. I can see you just wanted to make a comment but you only made yourself look like a fool.
Its pretty easy to see that you have never played any of the NG games to even make suck a stupid comment but I am sure that will not stop you from make more
GaryM @ Jun 1st 2008 10:42PM
It's funny reading console gamers complaining about a game's graphics not being "HD" enough; dare I say some of you sound like the "PC graphics whores" you're always denigrating? ;)
