THQ has confirmed to Big Download that ghetto fabulous Saints Row 2 will be poppin' caps on PC. Originally announced for Xbox 360 and PS3, the game doesn't have an official release date yet for com-pu-ters, but Gamestop lists it with the same launch date as the console version.
Saints Row 2 probably plays a significant role in THQ's financial stability, so it's not surprising to hear that the title will try to pick up cheddar from whatever platform it can find it on. THQ recently fired 200 employees and reported a $35 million loss in its last fiscal year. We'll holla back with an update if the publisher gives a release date soon.

People compare saints row 1 to the ps2 GTAs, san andreas specially which isn't fair. They took the common complaints against the ps2 gtas, like the aiming problem, and fixed it. The only problem is so many other parts of the game is broken/stupid.
The attempts at GTA like humor is nonexistant, the characters are so stereotypical it's almost racist, and it fails in the sense that when you play it, saints row just doesn't have that "GTA feel" that GTA has. I call it the x factor in sandbox games and every GTA clone has failed to capture that "feel".
It's an ok buy if it's at $10 or so by now, or a rental.

Don't listen to the twip above. Saint's Row was very enjoyable. The main issues is the NPCs can't drive worth a shit so on missions where that's a major feature, it becomes a massive issue.
Now, as to whether or not it compares the GTA, well, aside from fixing a large number of the broken (and still so) issues in GTA, it also added a LOT to the open world genre itself.
Take as an example, the ability to replay missions after you failed them. This is a massive addition which Saints Row did first. It also made the "side quests" aspects of GTA actually integral to the main quests. About the only bad thing I can say about Saint's Row was that it's funny in ways they didn't intend and the sexual humor was too explicit to be tongue in cheek like in GTA. But considering GTA has taken their sexual humor from "tongue in cheek" to "cock in eyesocket" that seems to be a common complaint nowadays.
I thought Saints Row was fun as all hell and look forward to the sequels release.

If GTA IV is like "Dances With Wolves" then SR2 is like "Blazing Saddles". Both are great.

I liked the original Saints Row. In fact, GTAIV took a lot of what Saint's Row did and built it into their own game, like the advent of the cell phone. As such I'll definitely be buying Saint's Row 2.
Those of you mocking it need to understand one thing: Saint's Row is not all that alike GTA. It's like the arcade version of arcade... it's Lego Star Wars (with more mature themes) to GTA's Star Wars the Force Unleashed.
Because of this it has found a nice niche area in the open world arena, one that doesn't take itself too serious and as such has the ability to use comedy to lighten up any "political corectness-phobes" out there.
To the person who commented, quite sarcastically, how they like how this game portrays black people positively, all I can say is: did you ever play GTA: San Andreas?

I hope that's sarcasm. Looking at your post history, you seem to be against the way black people are portrayed in RE5, but based on this post, you have no problem with the way they're portrayed in Saints Row?

1) That wasnt sarcasm, that was a Family Guy reference.
2) I'm not against how black people are portrayed in RE 5. I just recognize that the game has racial undertones which people are denying. I could care less if Capcom made a holocaust game where you play as the nazis, just as long as people dont play dumb about how it looks.
3) Saints Row does not portray blacks negatively. Its a satire of the goofy wannabee gangster lifestyle, like Jamie Kennedy in Malibus Most Wanted.
4) Saints Row >>>>>>>>>> Life

Same here. Either on Steam with a pre-loader or for mega cheap in a game shop.
Hoping GTA IV comes to PC too. I'm sick to death of the story I just want to download a 100% save and go on some mad sprees already.
