PS3 Fanboy attends Hideo Kojima's London signing

Click to embiggen
Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima was on hand at HMV Oxford Street, London, England, United Kingdom, Europe, Earth (just so we're clear), to sign sleeves for next week's MGS4 launch. Joining him was lead artist Yoji Shinkawa and Beauty and the Beast model Yumi Kikuchi. Our friends at PS3 Fanboy were at the event and report that the first 300 pre-printed sleeves went rather quickly, although they did get their MGS Essential Collection signed instead. Check out the gallery to live vicariously through them.

They don't come to my neck of the woods but if they did, would it be such a bad thing if I did go? After all, it's an area of likeminded individuals who would more than likely be shooting the shit about the same kind of things you enjoy. To me, this would just be the gaming equivelant of the rave I went to a few weeks ago.
I do have to ask this question because it seems to be the very core of the issues gamers face today in our society. A car show is commonly looked upon as something for cool people. A Pool Hall is a great gathering place. A Motorcycle Club is something you join when you want to hang out with like minded Yamaha fans. A band is what you join when you like to make music.
But any of those things attached to gaming is suddenly a nerdfest....
cantbeatmegaman @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:08PM
I just want to know how early you showed up and how long you waited.

I wish I was there late so I could try to catch him leaving and then yell "KOJIIIIMMMAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!"
*sigh* ...One day
Lard @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:35PM
The fact that Kojima is doing a "North" American tour which consists of 3 U.S. cities is fucking ridiculous.
Not to mention misleading and disingenuous. Thanks for telling Canadian fans that we don't matter and spitting in our faces.
Suck my balls Kojima. If you can't be bothered to acknowledge my country exists, I can't be bothered to buy your half assed movie of a game.

primetime4 @ Jun 2nd 2008 3:28PM
Did you say that to the Pope and what difference does it matter? Canada is a big country and you are most likely closer to one of the listed US cities anyway. Or do you just want him to touch down on Canadian soil somewhere just to take a shit? Let's say he stops in Vancouver and you are in Toronto... are you going? These are pretty much the only two cities worth visiting.
A person who's more rational than Lard. @ Jun 2nd 2008 3:52PM
Well geez. Aren't you demanding? What about the other countries like Mexico? It is a part of North America too. Quit whining, and hating people for not catering to YOUR needs.
License to ill @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:33PM
Emo alert....
Lard @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:36PM
I expected as much from spoiled Americans who get everything they want on a silver platter.
Sir Fidlious Wong (Justin T. McElroy Memorial Burn of the Day Award) @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:48PM
I expected as much from a typical fucktard driving preconceived notions as fact. Life is so hard as a Canadian, what with your non-gang wars, little drug problem, weakening dollar, population control problems, dwindling health care service, and ability to leave your doors unlocked at night.
I feel for you. Life is hard. Being Canadian sucks. And us Americans? Not a fucking care in the world. Why just this morning I woke up to a police siren as swat raided an apartment below me as a meth dealer got arrested and it was a typical carefree day for me in America.
ill trooper @ Jun 2nd 2008 5:09PM
Sounds like you generally expect too much.
finnith @ Jun 2nd 2008 8:28PM
If you're gonna be such a douchebag Lard, don't live on my planet, let alone in my country.
ill trooper @ Jun 2nd 2008 4:45PM
Kojima getting extremely FRESSSSSSH in that New Order shirt! Nice.
Bellerophon @ Jun 2nd 2008 5:03PM
Yumi Kikuchi was there? Damn, now I regret not going. She's plays Raging Raven in the Beauty and the Beast Unit.
Kirk @ Jun 2nd 2008 6:55PM
Wait, how long was he there? I'm trying to go to the signing in New York and I hope he's not too elusive. Can someone from PS3 Fanboy answer this one? That'd be awesome! =)
Yami @ Jun 2nd 2008 7:55PM
I would so have been there, but damn, had 2 exams for 3 hours this morning.
Argh, curse you world.
churd23 @ Jun 2nd 2008 9:08PM
Even the box art makes me want to buy this game. Hopefully I will be able to buy a PS3 in June, after school.
