Since I really like laptops, especially the Vaio line, let me tell you PremierAsshole what things Sony has created first and others have "ripped off" since you think Sony can only steal, not create.

They were the first to use the glossy displays you see in almost all consumer notebooks, they used it first in late 2003 in their Vaio TR series.

They were the first to use LED backlighting in laptop screens which more and more makers are adopting (Dell XPS M1330, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro) in late 2005 in their Vaio TX.

I don't deny that Sony has copied ideas, done some wrong things especially with the PS3 but I will also point out the positives unlike you.

Almost everything that comes out of your mouth has been pure shit so far (except for your hate on Street Fighter 4 which I agree with), so no point in me putting any in your mouth. : )

@Premature Asshat

Hey idiot Microsoft is also developing a Wii-Mote ... Are you going to hammer them like you do Sony?

All you ever do is spew rhetoric and hate ...

If you were wanting attention you have succeeded in your goal ... You will be forever labeled the biggest Tool on Joystiq ... Congrats!

Its an input device you asshat ... Thats like saying everyone is copying the first developer who made a shooter ... Its an input periphial like keyboard and mouse, controller and a web cam ...

Stealing? More like business. Grow up children.

Anyway, it would be hilarious if this ends up being better than the Wii motion sensing.

another little tidbit of info, I remember hearing about this about a year ago, and if focus testing was asked for in January, this thing has been in development for a while, its not like they came up with this idea yesterday.

I am sure you and all the other Wiiophites would love that ... Sorry bud but I LIKE real games ... I will pass on Mario And Sonic at the Craplympics ... The little controller will be nice because it will allow me to dump my Wii and pick those up for the kids and wife ... I am sure we will see a slew of craptastic casual titles that litters the Wii's software library

Maybe there will be a handful of solid games like the Wii has ... Sony has some cute cartoony like characters as well ... Spyro, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank & Jax And Daxter to name a few ... Hell thats a minimum of 10 releases there with about 1,000 variations of the same movements and timed button taps

Now Sony can run "This Is Innovation" ads too.

Where's the DualAxisChuk3 to be paired with it, though?

I can't wait to be arguing with Sony fanboys five years from now over how Sony actually invented the first motion controller and how Nintendo doesn't deserve the credit.

Isn't it already too late for this to be of any help? By the time this hits and has any good games that take advantage, Sony would just be further behind. Maybe I'm too old-school, but this 10-year game plan is crap. Shouldn't they just focus on minimizing current losses and push forward with the PS4? Realistically, this is all about maximizing profit - perhaps that's not feasible for them in the current market with the current hardware, wiimote or no...

Once again Jimmy, by "ten-year plan", they mean they will SUPPORT it for 10 years just like how long they have supported the PS1 and PS2 after their successors have come out. They will release a PS4 long before but will still support it, still release first and second party titles for it, etc.

Well, that's not what they meant, but it doesn't really matter. The whole reason they put out the 10-year thing was to try and help market their pricey system as a good long-term investment. It was a stark contrast to the overnight killing of the xbox by the 360. However, at the time, they could not have foreseen Nintendo being back on top, or they would have marketed differently...

I would rather have 10 year support than another X-Box ...

But it does refer to the fact they will have support to the console IE updates, games and maintenance ... It doesn't really man we will not see another PS console for 10 years ... I thin so anyway

I think the fact that MS is doing it proves that there is something to this Motion controls idea.

But I don't think coming out with the exact same control as the Wii will eliminate it from the Market.

It's amazing how many Nintendo Fanboys there are on Joystiq...makes it near unbearable to read comments here these days.

Grow up nintendo kiddies, this is business. Just because you buy games that are "Ages 3+" doesn't mean you have to act that age.

This site is swamped with unreasonably opinionated people, though an unfortunate number of them do seem to hate the future of gaming...I mean Nintendo. Heck, an unfortunate number of them seem to hate any system not made by Sony - and an even greater number of them seem to hate Fernando.

I totally agree with Fernando for the most part, when you play MP3 with the sensitivity cranked up its does make dual analogs seem inferior. Im used to playing games with my high DPI laser mouse on my comp, and the Wii is the closest thing on consoles that doesnt irritate me with its incredible slow turning, and aiming. I play halo 2/ 3 on 10 sensitivity and Its still rediculously slow.

If you people aren't arguing over which console is best, its which controller! Sony and Microsoft want a waggle stick for the same reason the Wii can use more conventional controllers - Versatility! If you have multiple controller options, you widen the scope of games available on your console and also give players more choice in how they approach the game.

Why does good news for some people always have to be criticised by the people who are unaffected by it? It's childhood jealousy. "I have this, but I don't want you to have it too"

At least Sony could move some of the buttons around (if that pic is real). Isn't that the exact same layout as the wii remote? MS at least has the smarts to not straight copy, button for button, the Wii remote

Dunno if someone mentioned this, but Sony was working on motion tech with a playstation eye type device. They claimed it could accurately gauge position in 3 dimensions. Seems like a likely thing to find itself sitting on a tripod in front of your tv.....

Don't know about you, but stealing issues aside, gamers should be very happy that this is happening. Wii + HD graphics + Online gaming = Win. The PS3 will be capable of using two major controllers which developers can decide whether make a HD-Wii game, or a regular PS3 game. Just think about the fun you can get, and leave the "Omg Sony is stealing ideas again" bullshit to the people in charge. Besides, this is needed in order to evolve technology. If this is true, there are probably many ways Sony can improve on the Wii-mote. My only questions is why a remote like design, can't it be anything else?
