Long or short I don't care as long as it is really good.

I have to disagree...

What about say, Heavenly Sword? Too short, but obviously of high-quality.

I believe games need to be longer to get their point across to the gamer. It's the struggles the gamer endures that makes a game "EPIC". Such as the 3 disc FF7 (or 4 for pc).

Not to disagree with you completely but FF7 had multiple discs because of FMV storage but that isn't your point. The obvious example of a short, good game is Portal.

hmmm you are right my friend about portal.

But I didnt consider that a stand alone game by itself. Would you pay 60 dollars for that, as an individual gaming experience? For me it would have to have some sort of online component(create your own level) sharing ability...(it is a really good game though)

My point is, games are starting to get really expensive...so devs sort of have to make a good game AND make us FEEL like we got our moneys worth.

Since I thought HL2 was the most overrated game of all time, never got around to eps 1 and 2, and have no interest in TF2, I basically paid $60 for Portal...and have no regrets about it whatsoever.

I owned a N64 so I am used to $60 games. I am not saying they don't need to provide something of value to the customer. I am saying that a longer experience does not mean a better experience. In single player RPGs you shouldn't need to grind for 10 hours right before the last dungeon, that was a design element they introduced to try and pad their game length. I am not saying I would pay $60 for a 3 hour game but taking that same 3 hour game and making it 15 hours by making me walk more or flooding the player with more enemies doesn't necessarily make it a better experience.

I guess I'm in the minority because I hate long games and get a much more fulfilling experience from shorter games.

I play a lot of games but for short periods of time 30 minutes to 1 hour a day and most of the "critically acclaimed games" are so long that I miss out on them completely since I can never finish them. For example: Mass Effect, Oblivion, GTA IV, Zelda, I left with an empty feeling because these games are so ridiculously long that the only people who will ever finish them and enjoy their full impact are professional game reviewers or children (who don't have anything else to do).

I spent 2 months playing Lost Odyssey (which I beat) but it took so much out of me I made a decision to never play another 50+ hour game again.

Games like Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, CoD4, and Bioshock are perfect in my opinion. You can finish them in a week and don't have to play them for months and suffer the tedium of drudging along for 2 months, 5 + hours a day.

That pretty much confirms a 2009 release date.

and if God of War 3 drops in March as well, it will be one of the best months for the PS3 as far as I'm concerned (Twisted metal ps3 around the corner...too!!!!)

GOW3 in March, is that a rumor? Damn that would be nice indeed...and expensive =( I only played part 1 need to play part 2, never got around to it since it dropped when I had already retired my PS2 and gotten into my 360.

Yeah..it's a rumor, but a pretty decent one considering all the other GOW games were released in March. You need to play part 2, But it could wait right before you play Part 3.

I have been a RE fan since the original in 1998, Resident Evil 4 totally reinvigorated the series and I CANNOT wait for this one!

Samfish - Capcom has never said anything other than a 2009 release date.

sea tuna - nice ;)

I will gladly wait for as long as it takes to make this game great. I've played through RE4 more times than I can count and can still go back at any time. It may be a long wait for RE5, but it'll be worth it when it does come.

That being said, I'm a little surprised at the '60%' number - I would have thought they were farther along than that, but what do I know?

I'd rather them give a more realistic percentage of completion rather than saying, "WE R ULMOST DUN GAIS, WE SHOULD HAVE ITZ DUN BY NEXT WEEK" And it get delayed to 2067 or something. This way no one gets their hopes up.

Companies that can stick to release dates and time frames are always a +1 in my book

I agree about sticking to schedules/timeframes. I don't want another Too Human where they get our hopes up time and time again, only to let us down.

Black Zombies. I'm mad, I'm going to write about it. Even though the game takes place in Africa and everyone there is black. I am still going to write about how they kill black people in this game.

Sweet...it would be nice to have the single player last like 30+ hours methinks...

I just hope that "other" controversy doesn't completely derail the games popularity or sales in any shape by then...

If anything controversy usually helps sales. If they pull it off the shelves and give it an AO....not so much.

"Dude, you're freaking me out."

Cool. I thought that they'd already confirmed that this wasn't coming out for another year and a half, so I wasn't surprised.
