Rock out! Guitar Hero: On Tour DS bundle spotted

Toys 'R' Us has given us the first look at a definite must-have for any on-the-go wannabe rock god. Priced at $179.99, the limited edition Nintendo DS Guitar Hero Bundle includes the game, Guitar Grip, and a swanky two-toned silver & black DS Lite with silkscreened Guitar Hero logo. (You know, in case the stylus strumming and shouts of "Star Power!" don't give away what game you're playing.)
The bundle goes on sale June 29, one week after the, er ... "light rock" version of Guitar Hero: On Tour. Given all the evidence, we're pretty much convinced Nintendo is going for some kind of record for "most bundles and color variations of a handheld gaming system ever."

You will have to note that for whatever reason, right down to the stylus, they decided to give it the color scheme of the original DS. Because the fans have been clamoring for it I suppose...

No, it's because they have a surplus of them in Japan.
Kinda sucks though. In Japan, you can get all the colour variations whenever you want. In North America, you have to get them in a "bundle".
It's a good colour (the best, in my opinion) though. I don't know if there is real metal/aluminum, etc. on it, but it does have a different feel than the regular white or black ones.

Did you even watch that video, Randy? Everyone knows you shout out "ROOCK OUUUT" to activate star power, not "Star Power" Unless of course you're pushing the buttons because SOMETIMES YOU CA-AN'T YELL.
I hope they release variations of this bundle with different colors just so I can have an excuse to use the line GREEN RED YELLOW BLUE - WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Oh, I saw the video. It can't be unseen. You can actually yell anything you want -- I used "Snausages!" or just blew on the mic. There were a bunch of goons around me yelling "Star Power!" *very* loudly, and it got old fast. Pressing buttons to deploy it is iffy, so, if anything, I'd use the stylus to touch the Star Power gauge.

It's a shame the game isn't getting bundled with a better soundtrack.

WOW THAT'S A WHOLE LOTTA GREAAAAT STUFF
Hafk @ Jun 4th 2008 1:45AM
I REALLY dig the Silver/Grey lite. Silver/grey looked good on the phattie, and it looks good here. Just nix the Guitar Hero logo, and I am gold. (I don't like logos on my shiny plastic.)
Hafk @ Jun 4th 2008 1:48AM
Silver/black, I mean.
Adam @ Jun 4th 2008 3:27AM
Ditto. Can you scratch that thing off, like the Darth Vader graphic on the white PSP?
baby sea tuna @ Jun 4th 2008 8:28AM
You can scratch the logos off the PSP? That was one of the things holding me back from that GoW bundle.
Well, that and it was 200 bucks...and I already bought and beat the game on someone else's PSP.
vgxtremist @ Jun 4th 2008 2:31PM
Man, get me a pure Silver DS Lite like that silver and I'm sold.
HighFiveJesus @ Jun 4th 2008 2:23AM
"Sometimes you can't scratch off that fugly guitar hero sticker"
DAMN. Otherwise i'd really like it.
Tyler @ Jun 4th 2008 10:19AM
Silver/Black looks okay...but the logo takes out all coolness it had. Seriously, why?
Colin @ Jun 4th 2008 10:31AM
What the hell... I just bought a DS finally 2 days ago!
Justin @ Jun 4th 2008 12:05PM
It's not listed on Toy's R Us anymore. I just checked. Guess they let the word out too early. But I just read that the Guitar Hero logo on the DS may be optional to put on, just like the Mario Kart DS bundle a while back. But either way, I've been holding out for a Silver DS, so this may be my closest bet.

Damn. If they'd remove that stupid logo, that'd be a handsome DS.

I was listening to the Uncle Gamer podcast this morning and during an interview they were like "We're really excited because this is the FIRST time Nintendo has ever done a bundle with a third party game."
I really think Activision is now in the habit of just yelling FIRST whether it's true or not.
HairyBalls @ Jun 4th 2008 6:08PM
Didn't Nintendo do a bundle for Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes...
If so than, this wouldn't be the first third-party bundle.
