Civilization Revolution demo tomorrow for Xbox 360 and PS3
Gamespot reports that a demo for console-centric Civilization Revolution will be available tomorrow on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The demo will fill about 1.08 gigglebytes of hard drive space and include both single and multiplayer demos. Players will have the option of playing as Cleopatra or Caesar up until 1250 AD in the turn-based strategy game.
The demo will become available tomorrow beginning at 5AM EST on Xbox Live and as part of the PSN update sometime during the afternoon. We're definitely looking forward to testing out the demo and seeing if our civilization willstand the test of time survive until 1250 AD. Civilization Revolution is currently scheduled to release on July 8 for Xbox 360, PS3 and DS.

UltimateQ @ Jun 4th 2008 2:39PM
Will xbox kiddies be able to grasp a game like civilization? I can't picture it doing well on consoles. Peoples attention span are just to short for a game like that.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 4th 2008 2:43PM
You mean like the 10 hours it took me, a guy who never played civilization before, to beat civ 4 on normal difficulty? I was actually disappointed after playing it cause I thought it was easy and didn't have that much depth to it. It was pretty much a technology race from what I remember of it.
marauder800 @ Jun 4th 2008 3:12PM
Fewer kiddies means more happiness for me :) I'm sure there is a market for gamers like me that sit in front of a computer all day, and would rather game in their recliner on the big screen with 5.1, than sit in front of a computer in their leisure time.
Nicholas @ Jun 4th 2008 3:13PM
I imagine that the kiddies won't be buying it. Also, Civilization is not coming to consoles, Civilization Revolution is coming to consoles. It appears as though you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Did you come here to comment intelligently, or just to troll?
rTwelve [xbl:chilblane] @ Jun 4th 2008 3:35PM
Downvoted for thinking every owner of a 360 has never played Civilization.
mirage @ Jun 4th 2008 3:42PM
I spent well over 80 hours in one game of Oblivion and that isn't including the expansion that I have yet to try out. I think I will be able to handle some Civ goodness just fine!
BigD145 @ Jun 4th 2008 5:12PM
This is a kiddie version of Civ.
Jonah Falcon @ Jun 4th 2008 5:29PM
Kiddie version? No fucking way. I'm 37, been playing Civ since 1990 and this version is extremely well done.
It's Civ without micromanagement - and if you think micromanagement = adult, you're an idiot.
UltimateQ @ Jun 4th 2008 7:15PM
Sorry if I made your nipples hurt with that comment.
"Did you come here to comment intelligently, or just to troll?" .. A little bit of both perhaps.
PojoMofo @ Jun 4th 2008 2:39PM
not my cup of tea, but I will play the demo
Magnificen7 @ Jun 4th 2008 2:40PM
Yeeha, I loves me some Civ. Should hold me over till this supposed Ninja Gaiden demo...
Maxwell Ash @ Jun 4th 2008 3:17PM
I played the Ninja Gaiden Demo today. It was alright. The camera was annoying, and it was easy, which I wasn't expecting after everyone was going on about how hard it is.
Civilisation though... I can see myself getting addicted...Just one more turn....
offday @ Jun 4th 2008 2:40PM
A black woman in the screenshot? What does this indicate?! White people aren't allowed in this game??! Are you saying they don't exist?!!
/sarcasm
Sorry. I guess I'm still fired up about RE5.

Maverick Saturn @ Jun 4th 2008 2:57PM
RACIST!
This game should be banned! This is an outrage!
:)
nobletoast @ Jun 4th 2008 2:55PM
Would it really have hurt them to have had Lenin as the leader of the Russians in this? I thought communism was just a big joke now. Props for Bad Boy Bismarck, then again a certain ex-German leader might be a bit taboo for a game like this. Who else could they have had.
Now wheres that Ninja Gaiden demo got to.
Bj Sisco @ Jun 4th 2008 2:56PM
Yay!
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 4th 2008 2:58PM
I'm assuming this is worldwide?
jayeffaar @ Jun 4th 2008 4:55PM
Yes, you're assuming. Depending on which system you want it for, your assumption may be right.
"The demo will be available worldwide through Xbox Live at 2 a.m. local time, and will go live on Thursday as part of Sony's weekly PSN update in North America. Take-Two expects to roll out the PSN demo to its global audience later this year."
Vcize @ Jun 4th 2008 3:09PM
Maybe I'll DL this one on the PS3 instead of the 360 since for once it actually comes out on the same day as PSN's weekly updates and doesn't force us to wait extra days because Sony says so :P.
Yes, I am an impatient person.
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 4th 2008 3:16PM
I have a feeling, though, that multiplayer on XBL may be the true hero of the day here. I just hope that they don't disenfranchise the PS3 base by having a crappy online multiplayer experience. Both camps deserve a good Civ game.
Korova *Pyro aspect* @ Jun 4th 2008 5:08PM
I am suspecting PS3 may have more sukkas playing MP, which would be fun for a little, but once you build a little Civ muscle, you will want to be on XBLA with the deep enthusiasts. I am sure there will be sukkas on XBLA - me for example.
Martez @ Jun 4th 2008 3:26PM
Cool, looking forward to trying this game out and seeing how it works on consoles.
Jonah Falcon @ Jun 4th 2008 5:23PM
The game really uses the gamepad (at least the 360 pad) well, and it's amazing how fluid the controller is with it.
Martez @ Jun 5th 2008 12:11PM
Sounds good to me.
Ben @ Jun 4th 2008 4:13PM
Are you sure this isn't another demo that will come out tomorrow, but you'll forget to tell us until tomorrow that it's coming out everywhere BUT the US and Candada?
Korova *Pyro aspect* @ Jun 4th 2008 5:05PM
Candada ... hee-hee
Freud would sniff into his stache
Korova *Pyro aspect* @ Jun 4th 2008 5:02PM
finally a reason to go the marketplace
LaughingTarget @ Jun 4th 2008 5:12PM
I'll probably check it out, but I've been unhappy with the direction the Civilization franchise has been moving. Civ3 kicked my ass regularly, Civ4 was a cakewalk, what will this be?
Jonah Falcon @ Jun 4th 2008 5:21PM
Civ Rev is Civ without any fat. I played the demo at ComicCon, and you NEVER feel like you're playing an easy game. This is Civ with all the fat stripped away; in other words, it's streamlined but NOT simplified.
The game is really fast paced - typically 5-6 hours, but power/speed gamers once they're used to the interface might be able to do 2 hour games.
After playing the demo, I found myself PREFERRING it to Civ 4, and I'm a PC gamer for the most part. Civ Rev is pure Civ strategy.
Here's my impressions when I played it a couple of weeks ago:

Trust me, the demo kicks serious ass - and it even has multiplayer.
Shogan @ Jun 4th 2008 5:47PM
This screenshot is sure to cause controversy.
Deck @ Jun 4th 2008 8:30PM
w00t! Yayz for the demo!
Can't wait to hit this up!
Batzarro(A.K.A Rap-Rock Cameo) @ Jun 4th 2008 11:34PM
Hey! Not to sound like a male chauvinist, but wasn't Cleopatra all hot and stuff? She looks like my english teacher!
juju187 @ Jun 12th 2008 11:47AM
great demo but if your hardcore civ fan its a bit water down. but I like the less of hassle this civ. rev. offers.
