First look at Batman in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

The Dark Knight is the second DC Comics character from the upcoming krazy krossover, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, to be revealed as he'll appear in-game by Midway. Although this first image is a pre-rendered CG mockup, we can see what the game's artists are going for: a mix of the Caped Crusader's original black & grey outfit with some downright anime-style body armor details.

Bats had better have plenty of utility belt items at his disposal as he goes up against the likes of Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Best throw in some Kryptonite for good measure, given that Superman has already been revealed as a kombatant.

Superman can fly, he doesn't even have to fight. He can just use his laser eyes and shoot from the sky before you know what hit you...

Or, or, use his super speed to flash behind you and then trip you. While your falling in slow motion (as it appears to him) He goes around back in front of you to pull your heart out, then punch you into the mountains in the distance!

The whole idea of this game is just retarded. Unless EVERY fighter has kryptonite handy, superman would own their faces. Obviously superman and batman are just two extra character models ontop of generic fighter #101

Batman once said he can only beat superman because he knows how far superman will go. If superman was to lose it, and bats was to lose it, batman wouldn't have a chance. He puts a barrier in his mind to limit his ability he has had it there from young because he is scared of what he might do. So on an average superman runs on like 25% of is power.

In "Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again" Flash is faster than Superman and Batman beats Superman in a fight.

Without trying too hard to take the geek prize...

Batman can win a fight with anyone, should he have TIME TO PREPARE.

In a straight-out fight, he's more thancapable of taking out many, many thugs, but often has to fall back and examine his strategy with tougher foes.

If Bane could break him, Sub Zero has a pretty good shot.

This game better have TONS of characters, we're talking about Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 tons.

No ONE can beat batman. It will never ever happen. No matter how many opponents he faces, he can always rely one his utility belt. It has everything known to man in there.

Bane could only break him AFTER running him all around Gotham recapturing the criminals from the MASSIVE breakout from Arkham. Do you think Bane would have stood a chance if Batman wasn't straight out of fighting for 48 hours straight all culminating in a Gotham Tunnel showdown with Joker and Scarecrow?

Or is it sad that I remember all this and I'm likely the only one here who read Knightfall (and the shameful Azrael stint that was to follow).

But there HAVE been a lot of times Batman's had to regroup. However, that's also part of his appeal. He's kind of a brains-over-brawn guy when it comes down to it.

oh, I also have that volume, I forgot the exact number though (I think it was on the 480s or so).

Yah, he was worn out, but cmon, it wasn't only that, after the battle with Joker and Scarecrow, Wayne was depressed, way too emo to fight...

what I wonder is who would win between Captain America, Ironman, and Batman if you take in mind that the 3 of them are considered the smartest comic characters...(and although I love Batman, Captain America is considered the best strategist and hand to hand combatant of the Marvel universe...)

I'll take a solid fighting game rather than gobs of shitty characters mashed together.

batman's supposed to have contingency plans to deal with any of the superheroes going rogue. Krypotonite bullets, etc..

But if he didn't have time to prepare then there are quite a few who could kick his ass. He's always been more of a detective than a fighter. (not that he can't fight).

He did beat superman (twice?) but I'm not quite sure how much of that fight was fixed.

If there's ever going to be another Marvel Vs. Capcom, it won't be for a long time (aside from the fact they'd need to acquire the Marvel game license again). Not only do they have two Street Fighters in the works (SF4, and SF2HD), but another Vs. game is in the works:

For those who don't know, Tatsunoko Production is an anime studio that has been around for over 40 years. They've created many well-known anime, including Speed Racer, Macross (aka Robotech), Gatchaman (aka Battle of the Planets, G-Force, and Eagle Riders), Samurai Pizza Cats, and Neon Genesis Evangelion (working with Gainax)... amongst many others.

So, with a history like that, there is huge potential for epic in this game. Characters shown so far for the game are Ryu and Chun-Li from SF, Ken Washio from Gatchaman (aka Mark in BotP, Ace Goodheart in G-Force), and Casshern from... Casshern (also known as Casshan).
Also, a stage littered with Servbots has been shown, likely meaning some Legends love in the game.

Why there isn't a single Joystiq post about this confounds me. :(
