While BioShock's October release on the PlayStation 3 may bring visual parity with versions already available, news from the official PlayStation blog teases that the upcoming descent into Rapture may come with a few unexpected surprises.
According to 2K Marin exec Alyssa Finley, the game is being handled by four different studios, with 2K Marin sharing kitchen space with 2K Australia, 2K Boston, and another mystery partner "with some outstanding PS3-specific coding chops." In addition, Finley notes that the devs at 2K Boston are currently banging out code for the version's "as-yet-unannounced components," while simultaneously refining the game's physics to take "maximum advantage" of the PS3's inner voodoo. All said, we're more than interested to see how this latest take on one of last year's landmark releases measures up, even as platform zealots prepare to sling mantra to the effect of 'my Big Daddy can beat up your Big Daddy!'

So are the trophies in this version going to be attainable the same way you get achievements on 360? Is PS3 going to have a gamerscore? Will I be able to see my friends trophies without going into Home? Just wondering, would be nice IMO.

Nah Pojo I want a gamerscore. It would give me more incentive to play my PS3. But thats just me of course. Even if I have to replay Uncharted and other games to get the trophies or whatever they eventually are.

Fenix,
"So are the trophies in this version going to be attainable the same way you get achievements on 360?"
mmm..most likely, because even NaughtyDog had announced that the "achievements" in Uncharted will appear in Home, so I don't see why after more than 5 months this title wouldnt get that.
"Is PS3 going to have a gamerscore?"
God please no, gamerscore is one of the main reasons as to why the XBL community is so annoying, gamerscore is the epenis unit of measurement, and everyone wants the biggest one...the thropies are a good enough incentive.
"Will I be able to see my friends trophies without going into Home? Just wondering, would be nice IMO."
I think you will, I don't remember the interview, but I think it was mentioned that you might be able to.

It will probably just be a new logo with BioShock spelled with a Q.

Right on. I'm not re-buying it though.
I will however feel the strong urge to re-play it once this comes out. Never did beat it on hard...

Lol I'm being a dick for saying what this truly is? Lets just call this whole situation out for what it really is.
2K is as an extension/part of Rockstar. Yes 360 Bioshock sold extremely well. YES GTAIV sold really well and will probably continue to do so. But the company is STILL threatened by EA. And it could still be in a not so good financial situation....
SO the want and need to make more money. Might as well try the ps3 since its the only other console that can handle this type of graphics.
SO of course they're gonna talk it up....they want ps3 owners to feel "special" and rush out to buy the game. So they can make even more money... Even though in truth there will be little change in the game.

This has been debated before ad nauseam. There are a lot of people out there who do not own a 360 or a good enough PC but are interested in this game. Therefore a lot of people will pick this up for the PS3. Additional content or not; this version of the game will sell well.
And if you disagree, fine. We'll wait for the figures come November and put this debate to bed.

It's sounds to me like you're bitter the 360 lost an exclusive. Get over it. The most important thing is that more people will be exposed to the game. Only your bitter tears could possibly spin that into a negative.

Are we getting a collecters edition as well so we can have a Big Daddy figure with a broken drill?

Right on! I would love one of those (only without the broken drill bit though) I would sit him on my desk right next to the Vault Boy when I get Fallout 3 CE.

Yeah, but Fenix, do you *really* need another multiplayer shooter? I mean, we've got Halo, CoD, GTA, Gears, Warhawk, TF2, and (soon) SOCOM. By now pretty much everyone who is into those has found their niche.
Well, except for my one friend who laments on a daily basis the lack of a XIII sequel.

You're right BST
Seriously, all I really need is Gears2 and COD4 for my online shooting MP fix. I can't wait for all the new Fighters coming out this year to get my online fighting on too!

I agree, it's glutted right now, the game-types on multiplayer games are all very similar, and it comes down to level design, and which game you want to play 'sharphooter' or 'team deathmatch' in. I'm glad it's there but I think I'd prefer to see more co-op.

I can't wait for this. I don't care if it didn't have any extras. I could probably play Bioshock on my PC, but I'd rather wait and do it on the PS3.

Have any Unreal Engine 3 licenced games released with sub-HD graphics? Not to my knowledge...yet.

All UE3 games were 720p.
Only some X360 had some kind of AA.
And of course MUCH better framerate, no screen tearing etc.
Multiplatform games with Unreat Engine 3 on PS3 suxx mightily (with the sole exeption of UT3)(as most multiplatform games unfortunately).

I had this on the 360, beat it and loved it. I'll rebuy it on the PS3 for sure. If the graphics are upped and they add neat things (crosses fingers for multiplayer) I'd be stupid not to.

Unfortunately this will food for fanboys. If this port is better in some way than the 360 version the PS3 crowd will be crowing on the rooftops exclaiming how superior thier Cell/PS3 is, and if the 360 ends up being better somehow, I foresee a lot of sour grapes from the same crowd. On the same token, 360 fanboys will lament on how the game is obviosuly better on the ps3 because of the extra development time, or that even with the mighty cell, the PS3 still can't do better. It's going to be typical fanboy bullshit. The best thing that can happen is if the games look identical in all ways except for the additional content. That way fanboys of all types will be stuck for something to say negativewise.

Not sure what additional content would get me to re-buy Bioshock for PS3-I definitely enjoyed it though. Maybe a slightly extended end game/cinematic, since that seemed a bit abrupt :p

Lets face it, the sad Xbots/Joystiq editor will twist this depending.
If the PS3 turns out to be better, then it's because it's had a year longer (AKA Oblivion excuse)
If it's worse, then they all laugh.
Either way, PS3 can't win.

Already playe dthrough it on 360. They would have to make a hell of a lot of major changes to be worth another $60. Nice for those who only have a PS3 though -- it is a very cool game/experience.
