Wouldn't it be great if you could play any NES game you wanted on your computer, without using an emulator or downloading ROMs? Surely ... but would it be legal? Ah, we knew there was a catch. The legality of emulating games on computers has always been a shady area, which is what FireNES uses to justify its existence. Still, a program that offers 2,500 NES games can't be legal. That hasn't stopped people from using it, though. So far, almost 70,000 people have downloaded the add-on (51,000 just this week alone) faster than you can say "Arrrrrrrrrr."
We're not going to source a link to the add-on since we don't support downloading it, but we hope that those of you who choose to get it only use it to play games you already own. GamerTell speculates that Mozilla will pull the application soon, and we hope they're right -- something about the whole thing makes us uneasy, being the goody two-shoes that we are.
