If you're a Tenchu seeker who, despite the franchise's decidedly clumsy plummet from grace, insists on having your ninjas murder enemies with elegance and discretion (sorry, Ryu), you'd best check out the latest issue of Japan's Famitsu magazine. According to IGN, its pages declare that Tenchu 4 is headed for the Japanese Wii on October 23rd. The game is said to be developed by Acquire, the same company that delivered the original Dimensional Ninja Action Movie: Tenchu. And not Tenchu Z.
Not much else is known at this time, so you're more than welcome to speculate about how you'll use the Wiimote as a sword and the nunchuk as a ... well, we're sure you'll think of something.

Nice. At least is the next chapter.
Tenchu-Z is a spin-off, right? Or it was a sequel?

You're right! It's the same publisher, but not the same developer.

One could argue this series has never been relevant, but to me it died after tenchu 2. It just seemed like they stopped caring about the series after that.

Ibncidentally 2 was last tenchu developed by Acquire, then another dev took over and fucked it up, for tenchu wii Acquire is doing the developing again.

I had no idea the developers switched, but I guess if anything is going to bring this series back to at least decent it's them cause 1 and 2 were pretty fun.

I think if you go back and play the original two, much of the magic is lost with age. Plus the idea that bringing back the original developers on the series will mean a quality title is not always a sure thing.
Remain optimistic, but cautiously optimistic.

I can imagine that they didn't age well at all cause even back then, while I like them, I could see that they weren't the most well made games out there. The controls were pretty awful and the level design a bit bland.

Oh holy hell. I didn't even notice that. I was just thinking sneakers "sneaking" up on the Wii. I didn't notice the ten shoes pun.
Ludwig, you have truly outdone yourself.

As bad as I want it; I'm going to wait for a price drop on Wii to get it.
I hope they release a version for 360 and allow you to transfer characters.

Well, I for one am ready for Tenchu's return to grace. Stealth Assassins was one of my most favorite PS games, and IMHO, sneaking around in Tenchu was more fun than MGS. Oh, the blood that spilled from a well executed stealth kill! I loved it so much, I wouldn't complete a stage until I slit every enemy’s throat. The game had major flaws, but I forgave it because it was so unique.
I sure hope Acquire can recapture the magic of the first game. Please don't let it suck like Tenchu DS.
