Video Games Live announces 50 shows for world tour
You wouldn't castigate us for saying that many classic video games are loved and remembered not just for their gameplay and characters, but their memorable music. Why, just think of The Legend of Zelda's dum dum, da da da dadum, da da da da daaa da da da da da dadum! Or Sonic the Hedgehog's dada da da dee dum dum, da dada da dum dee dum dum. And who could forget Mega Man's dada dada dadee dum, dadum dadum dum daaa?If you're a video gamer who appreciates everything from 8-bit beeps and boops to rousing orchestral scores, we encourage you to drag those big ears of yours to a Video Games Live concert. Created in 2002 by composers Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall, Video Games Live honors a wide range of games in -- thanks to its 50-show strong world tour -- a wide range of American and international venues. See a complete list of planned concert locales (including France, China, Taiwan, Scotland and Portugal) and dates after the break.

Buggers skip Virginia Beach, just like everyone else.

I went to this earlier this year and it was really cool. However, a couple of things almost spoiled it for me. First of all, we went to Abravanel Hall which is where the Utah Symphony normally performs. I wore a suit and tie and my wife wore a skirt and blouse. You wouldn't believe the amount of douche bags that just rolled out of bed and showed up and, judging by the smell, a few of them didn't even bother to shower. Now, I get it; it's videogames, it's casual. But no wonder gamers have the reputation of being antisocial losers. So, please, if you plan on going, be respectful to the place where the concert is held. Wear a tie, if appropriate. Shower. With such small and simple things we can show people that gamers are people too.
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 4th 2008 5:54PM
Dude, you must have a problem. Showering eats into game-time. You're fortunate I put down the controller long enough to even go to that stupid freakin' concert where they didn't have any Cheetos, let alone Mountain Dew... worst night of my damn life.

Farseer,
I actually l'ed ol.
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 4th 2008 6:05PM
;)
I feel for you dude. I would also be a bit embarrassed if I were in your position. I wonder if there may be some kind of a compromise, though? Maybe a tie that has a wizard on it? You know like the kind of wizard painted on a van at a swap meet?
WRE (PSN: WorstReviewEver; Gamertag: HaloKissesBoys; Wii Friend Code: 4204-4590-6106-3583) @ Jun 4th 2008 6:15PM
Oh yeah, wizard tie, Mario tie, hell, I'll accept a tie with Miyamoto kissing Kristi Yamaguchi. Just dress up a little bit, for hell's sake.
Kokomadeta @ Jun 5th 2008 9:03AM
I went to that same show. While some people came in torn jeans and punk style dress, others like me recognized that it isn't necessary to go to an event like that dressed in a suit. Really, that was not a normal symphony concert, and you should have been able to recognize that. I showered, shaved, etc. but I came in nice jeans and a button-up short sleeved shirt. Had it been a normal concert of that type, almost everyone would have been in dress, but apparently people are smarter than you and knew that it was more of a casual affair. Let's face it, I don't go to the symphony and get offered T-shirts with Mario on them on a regular night. It's obvious that it was a casual affair and you are just pissed off because you dressed up for something that was more casual than you thought.

Kokomadeta,
Thank you for proving my point far more effectively than I ever could.
capt_carl @ Jun 4th 2008 5:45PM
Awesome, they're gonna be playing the Tilles Center! *heads to box office tomorrow after work*
vegi-saurus @ Jun 4th 2008 5:45PM
I'm heading to the Winnipeg show tomorrow! Boo yeah!
GreyFox @ Jun 4th 2008 7:52PM
Me too!
On another note I had a fellow forum goer email Tommy Tallarico who mentioned they might come back to Winnipeg in '09!

Courtney @ Jun 4th 2008 6:22PM
Oddly enough, if you google that exact phrase, the first 10 links are all Britney Spears links...
Robobagins @ Jun 4th 2008 6:40PM
Holy crap, it's true.
Jhongerkong @ Jun 4th 2008 6:42PM
Lol, wut at the coincidence.
It was supposed to be the Kirby theme after you beat a boss
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 5th 2008 12:16AM
Holy shit, that google search was great on so many levels...
Just for kicks, I threw the word "baby" at the end of the "dadadadadadada da da, de de, da da, da da, DA". I'm sure you can guess the result.
Courtney @ Jun 4th 2008 6:20PM
Hell YES, there's a Kansas City show!
Dig @ Jun 4th 2008 8:01PM
I know I'll be there.
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 5th 2008 12:17AM
My wife will be pretty pregnant on Nov 1, so I'd have to do some serious negotiating to get out of the house the night of the KC show. But I'll be damned if I don't try. :)
WRE (PSN: WorstReviewEver; Gamertag: HaloKissesBoys; Wii Friend Code: 4204-4590-6106-3583) @ Jun 5th 2008 2:33AM
Farseer,
My wife is due on November 14th. It's our first! When is your wife due and which number?
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 5th 2008 8:19AM
Well, congrats to you sir. :)
You're in for a treat. My wife is due at the end of December with our 2nd.

I hope they come back to Mexicali (though they said they would be back next year).
The show they did back in March here was pretty damn awesome.
