As part of a conference call following Take Two's
second quarter earnings, company officials addressed questions from analysts on a number of topics, including the previously announced plan to give fan favorite
BioShock a movie makeover. Despite the obvious vocal excitement from Take Two officials regarding the project, it may be some time before we see Big Daddies and Little Sisters frolic on the big screen, with Take-Two chair Strauss Zelnick stating that "it's unlikely that [the movie] would be released alongside
BioShock 2...and it's more likely that it would be released alongside
BioShock 3, but that remains to be seen." No, that's not a typo:
BioShock THREE.
Additionally, while no specific details were shed on what we can expect from the movie, Take Two certainly appears to be taking a somewhat hands-off approach to the project. Zelnick commented that while the company "feels it is something that could be beneficial," Take Two has "structured the deal so we have no economic structure or risk."

Bioshock 3? Don't get me wrong the first game is incredible but it does not leave much open for a sequel. But I suppose you could do a prequel for bioshock 2. But I don't know what they would do for bioshock 3.

A pre-prequel :)
riggs @ Jun 5th 2008 7:10PM
im pretty sure the ending left room for a sequel
PojoMofo @ Jun 5th 2008 6:06PM
So the Bioshock 2 movie will be out around the same time as Bioshock 5??
alex.weick @ Jun 5th 2008 6:08PM

I've already lost interest. First game wasn't that good but they didn't really leave any space for a sequel.
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 5th 2008 6:12PM
Sure are moving fast arent they :S
ballistic3188 @ Jun 5th 2008 6:17PM
my god let the game rest. no sequel or prequel. the game already told you the past and the end showed you dying on your death bed. there are no loose ends. make a new game.

great games like these should not have sequels, as great movies like the matrix shouldn't either.
Even prequels aren't necessary. The magic of stories with interesting and vague histories is the fact that they have interesting and vague histories!
riggs @ Jun 5th 2008 7:12PM
cot damn i mustve missed alot when i finished the game

They sure know how to milk a franchise.

I hope Bioshock 2 takes place on a space station and you can have different classes and skills.
Lone Starr @ Jun 5th 2008 8:32PM
Well that's disheartening.
Purple Haze @ Jun 5th 2008 10:08PM
Take-two really seem like they'll cling to any franchise that's a success for them at the moment, which is sort of off-putting.

Bioshock 1 was enough, Bioshock 2 is acceptable but really this isn't trilogy quality its better off as one or two games and seriously this gets a movie before Halo? WTH? Bioshock is a really good game but after playing through the entire game I still fail to see how this is a godly epic game that after one game has enough to run on another two at least AND a Movie that is developed before it even hits 2 games.

I'm pretty sure they're finished with the Rapture/Andrew Ryan storyline, since they tied that up really nicely.
Here's hoping the next game changes the setting, something new and/or exciting.

From what the director of Pirates of the Caribbean (the man directing the Bioshock Film) said in an interview, the movie could actually come out quite good.
imaginarythomas @ Jun 6th 2008 6:39AM
Great i'll be able to watch it in my bioshock PJ's eating bioshoc breakfast cereal in my bioshock sleeping bag.
C'mon, now... Can we just let a great game be a great game? Do we have to milk it until it's teets are chapped and bloody?
This is one more point to the arguement gaming is on the downfall.
If you need me, I'll be playing my SNES.
