Five new Guitar Hero III track packs in June, Motörhead up first

The only other release announced thus far is the Isle of Wight pack. The Isle of Wight is not, you'll note, a band, but a music festival held in 2007. Three of its "most memorable performances" have been converted into colorful note charts, with Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs and The Sex Pistols providing the music. So, in summary:
Motörhead Track Pack (5 June / 500 MS Points / $6.25)
Isle of Wight Track Pack (12 June / Price unconfirmed, but likely to be same as above)
- "Shoot the Runner" by Kasabian
- "I Predict a Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs
- "Problems" by The Sex Pistols

Ok i will admit it. I wish this was on rock band Motorhead is awesome.
Jagzi11a @ Jun 5th 2008 1:47PM
they look like a bunch of dirt bags, really talented dirt bags. . .
Jhongerkong @ Jun 5th 2008 1:31PM
Insert obligatory "Guitar Hero has DLC?" joke here
DiddlyKong @ Jun 5th 2008 3:23PM
Here's a funny joke.

Sometimes you just can't yell.
Obie @ Jun 5th 2008 1:33PM
LEMMY!
Fernando Rocker @ Jun 5th 2008 1:33PM
Motorhead is one of my favorites bands ever. In my top 5. Lemmy Kilmister is an amazing singer.
And they know what true Rock and Roll means.
=p
Fernando Rocker @ Jun 5th 2008 1:35PM
Oh, and new MTV rock, Nirvana-like, NIN-like and that kinda of "rock" sucks.
FOXHOUND @ Jun 5th 2008 1:37PM
+1
Indeeeeeeed. Though the media seems to be playing out "Ace of Spades" like crazy lately. But it did make for a cool scene in that SHOOT'EM UP movie.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 5th 2008 1:39PM
Agree 100% with both comments, although I hold Metallica higher to me than motorhead, I still like them.
Anyone who disagrees fernando will beat the shit out of you!
Fernando Rocker @ Jun 5th 2008 1:46PM
My favorites singers are, Bruce Dickinson, Lemmy Kilmister, Michael Matijevic, Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach... uff.. and a lot more.
Music today needs more high pitch voices, power yells, guitar solos in every song, and elaborated riffs (a la Iron Maiden riffs).

OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 1:50PM
Fernando, how can you not have Jeff Lynne as one of your favorite singers? You're pissing me off right now!
:(
dark_inchworm @ Jun 5th 2008 1:51PM
Hey now, Nirvana and NIN aren't that bad.
How about some Fall Out Boy or Coheed and Cambria? ;)
Fernando Rocker @ Jun 5th 2008 1:54PM
dark_inchworm
¬ ¬ Nirvana practically ruined the entire rock & roll.
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 1:55PM
How exactly did Nirvana ruin Rock and Roll? That's quite the ignorant statement you made there.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 5th 2008 1:56PM
Because they killed good music, and then everyone after nirvana wanted to be whiny assholes like them and we're STILL suffering from it today
Fernando Rocker @ Jun 5th 2008 1:58PM
Nirvana ruined music plain and simple. They created a crap genre that produced todays crappy bands. They ruined music, they lowered the standards of being a musician.
They lowered the standard by using extremely easy music, stupid lyrics, bad voice. They just sucks.
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 2:02PM
Grunge is not a crap genre, sir. Just because you don't appreciate it doesn't automatically make it bad. I fucking hate some bands, but it doesn't make their work bad (except for fallout boy).
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 2:09PM
Oh, and did the Beatles lower the standards by using by playing simple and singing about an Octopus? I guess B.B. King isn't that great, since he used the 12-Bar Blues format for most of his songs. Just because you don't play extremely fast and rail off 20 minute solos, it shouldn't be defined as lowering the standards.
JJ Rooster @ Jun 5th 2008 2:07PM
Ha! I would apply your comments to my thoughts on the Wii...
Nintendo lowered the standard by using extremely simple graphics, stupid waggle controls, bad shovelware. They just sucks.
dark_inchworm @ Jun 5th 2008 2:09PM
I wouldn't say Nirvana ruined rock. The unrelenting wave of terrible rip-offs with cookie-cutter riffs and junior high lyrics, that unrelenting wave which continues to this day... THAT may have ruined rock.
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Jun 5th 2008 2:10PM
If Nirvana created grunge, than I guess you could say you created blog-commenting.
They just made it popular... Don't take credit away from The Melvins, Pixies, even Husker Du. They made some pretty cool music that most would argue originated the popular grunge style. Also Bruce Dickenson, hell yes! But where's Freddy Mercury?
Fernando Rocker @ Jun 5th 2008 2:17PM
Yeah, Freddy Mercury too...
I just dont wanted to post a long list. Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, Michael Sweet, Glenn Frey, Don Dokken, Kai Hansen...
Specially Michael Matijevic.
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 2:18PM
Oh, I know Nirvana didn't invent the genre of grunge. The Pixies were awesome. I loved 10 Minute Warning, who were huge influences on the genre as well. I was never a big Melvins fan, but they were good.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 5th 2008 2:17PM
They got big in 1991 I believe with that video everyone knows. They gathered a huge collection of fans and brought attention to grunge and other grunge bands like pearl jam and soundgarden, effectively killing the metal movement of the 80s and early 90s, AKA great complex rock music.
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 5th 2008 2:32PM
"...high pitch[sic] voices, power yells, guitar solos in every song, and elaborated riffs..." were the problem with rock music until the grunge movement helped put a stop to it. That's why you don't hear much of it in today's music Fernando. 80's Hair bands kept repeating the same trite, glam-rock-inspired formula.
Fernando, we've had this argument before. ;)
baby sea tuna @ Jun 5th 2008 2:52PM
One day, Fernando, you will learn that there is plenty of good music made after 1981, and will stop making dumb blanket statements about all modern rock.
One day...
joseph.bellear @ Jun 5th 2008 1:35PM
You mean "Time to Play the Game" isn't one of Motorheads greatest hits? eh eh eh .
poor triple h
mikey d @ Jun 5th 2008 1:37PM
Unfortunately I will not download any content for GHIII due to the fact it wont be supported in future iterations of the game.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo Activision. Its too bad, because I would be willing to shell out $$$ if I could play those songs on any of my GH games.
Vcize @ Jun 5th 2008 2:28PM
Do any games let you use DLC in their sequels on the 360/PS3? I honestly cannot think of a single one.
Shagittarius @ Jun 5th 2008 1:43PM
No drums, no dollas!
Jagzi11a @ Jun 5th 2008 1:44PM
ACE OF SPADES!!!
Saneless @ Jun 5th 2008 1:44PM
GOddammit! I hate GH downloads but I'm basically going to pay $6.25 for Shoot the Runner. Bastards!
dark_inchworm @ Jun 5th 2008 1:49PM
So are they finally kicking into full gear, or are they giving out one huge sigh before they jump to the next title? Hmm.
Keep this flow up, maintain a song difficulty appropriate for GH but not absurd, and cut the prices down to Rock Band standards... then I'll be tickled pink.
jsn @ Jun 5th 2008 1:52PM
you still can't play drums or sing so it's kinda like... old..
dark_inchworm @ Jun 5th 2008 2:13PM
Well, I like the complexity of the Guitar Hero note charts, or at least the ones for 1 and 2. 3 is for humans beyond my league. Rock Band is hella fun and undoubtedly a better party pick, but with the exception of the Metallica tracks and the occasional bad day with Deep Purple or the Outlaws, RB hasn't challenged me.
I like 'em both. I just wish they were both refined a bit.
dark_inchworm @ Jun 5th 2008 2:16PM
I'd also like to add that I do play on Expert, for the record.
killroy420 @ Jun 5th 2008 1:53PM
GH phails
Activision has killed the brand with its "me-too" philosophy of game-design.
Why would i pay MORE for tracks in a game that is guitar only, not supported by later releases and so incredibly difficult only my 7 year old cousin can beat them on medium or higher?
No thank you Activision, please call me when you make a new and original game and not a photocopy of the competition.
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Jun 5th 2008 1:54PM
I'm glad they are finally starting to pull it together, looks like World Tour might have it's DLC machine running in full gear at this rate. It still has to be a major annoyance for GH III Diehards intent on getting GH Aerosmith that all of this "great" DLC is hitting right after the announcement of it being incompatible with said GH Aerosmith.
Rock Band has surely spoiled us, though I certainly hope Activision / Neversoft does right by their fans with all of this - though I am not among them. Looking forward to seeing how this all pans out :)
Farseer (GDI) @ Jun 5th 2008 2:37PM
well said, sir. You made a very poingnent and uniting statement.
Seriously, if both franchises provide a quality product and maintain a steady customer base, maybe they'll be content to share the market. The moment one or the other feels threatened, they will surely try to sign band exclusives - to which the other will do the same. Exclusives will only diminish the quality of both products, as we've seen in the past with other genres.
DiddlyKong @ Jun 5th 2008 1:57PM
Looks like I'll be rockin out with Motorhead tonight during half time of the NBA finals. Pizza and beer or wings and beer? Joystiq decides.
dark_inchworm @ Jun 5th 2008 2:25PM
I'll put my vote in for pizza. Funny, 'cause I haven't even had a normal pizza in three years. Celiac disease.
baby sea tuna @ Jun 5th 2008 2:56PM
Even though I am a vegetarian (and even if I wasn't, I still hate chicken,) I vote wings. Man, I could drink Buffalo sauce straight up...

Hey, people that don't own certain video game consoles still are free to bash them all the time. How is this any different?
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 1:59PM
How exactly were they whiny assholes? Are you trying to say grunge started the whole emo scene? Because if you are, you're an idiot.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 5th 2008 2:23PM
No. I don't know what started the emo scene but I wouldn't be surprised if it evolved from grunge. You can't be a listener of grunge and tell me it's not depressing music. Have you heard cobain sing?
JaKa (Because 666 gives a wrong impression!) @ Jun 5th 2008 2:30PM
Well...if Wikipedia is to be believed, emo is Post-Hardcore and Indie Rock.
You could say that both Nirvana and Emo are Alt(Indie) Rock but then again so is Nickelback.
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 2:11PM
Post of the damn week right there. Give that man the PS3.
OMGOMG @ Jun 5th 2008 2:17PM
I referring to JJ Rooster. Jesus, hangovers suck.
