Yeah, Rockstar bought all 11 million copies. Seriously, did anyone actually buy this game?

I understand that sarcasm is difficult to detect through text, but come on...really?!

Sorry. Joystiq trolls say some pretty ridiculous things sometimes and have desensitized me to casual sarcasm. I wasn't sure what you were driving at with that one.

Also, Serious Cat ate my sarcasm detector.

Was wondering about this since reading about the COD4 sales news yesterday...really quite remarkable what GTA4 has done. Lets hope the next GTA game will be even better!

I'm sorry, folks, but I gotta say it. This game is so easy and unchallenging, I would borderline call this a casual game. Sure, it's super long, but it's just not challening. It's great, and I love it, it's just too easy.

The achievements aren't all easy. As often as I'm in the hospital due to the ninja inside me flipping out on random crowds of people and all of the cab driver riots I've started, I don't know if I'll ever get to $500,000.

If only my inner ninja would help keep me alive.

I never really played the previous games, so GTA4 is my first. The game definitely has a "quantity over quality" feel to it. The game world is huge, and there's just so much content and personality to it. But the quality of the game play itself is really low. Like Mass Effect and Bioshock, this game is more about the script than it is about the actual game play.

Zertoss, stop with the achievements. What a lame concept. If you happen to come across some in a game, great. Big whoop.

But these kids that devote their 360 lives to achievement unlocking is just baffling.

Achievements hearken back to the glory days of arcades, where the only way you could show your gaming superiority was by displaying your initials at the top of the High Score list. The same thing applies here.

"Achievements hearken back to the glory days of arcades"

Very true.

And, Co, do you even have a 360? If you did, perhaps you'd be singing a different tune. It's a good feeling of instant gratification when you unlock an achievement. And it definitely adds to the replay value. I'm not so bad that I'll try to get EVERY achievement in all my games, but it does keep me playing long enough to at least get my money's worth. All I'm saying is, don't dismiss something until you've tried it yourself.

I think you all should know by now Co doesn't have anything useful to say. Ever.

As for the achievement, don't sweat it if you keep playing you should get $500,000 easy. A mission halfway through pays $250,000 and each one after that averages $7000-12000. Also, if you get the map online for the text message cars you'll get some early on that pay 40,000-60,000 each.

The hardest is obviously the 100% one. I'm 96% done and missing 1 pidgeon somewhere and just haven't mustered the willpower to go through all 200 just to find 1 :(

GTA4 really is a step back compared to San Andreas.Less Guns,Less Cars,Less Weapons and less stuff to do.

This franchise needs to die...or at least take a long 5 year no-news-on-GTA break.

I'd gladly trade this one for San Andreas running on the same graphic engine.

It was 4 years from San Andreas to 4, what more do you want. As to why there's less I'd like to know as well, maybe DLC?

From what I've read in interviews, the development team decided to take a quality over quantity approach.
