We were originally excited about the official Metal Gear Solid 4 headset. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as though the headset is worth the money. Gadget Madness has posted an incredibly helpful video review of the device, and it highlights the rather poor audio quality produced by the device. The recordings are very fuzzy, to the point where words blur and become indecipherable. Yikes! While this headset may not do the trick, we're confident that Sony's official SOCOM headset will blow away the competition in both quality and value.

At least it's a nice prop. Not worth 60 bucks for a prop that doesn't exist in-game, so there's that.

Wow that thing sounded muffled. And it doesn't even make the classic MGS noises. Boo! Hell The p.o.s. Jabra that came with WarHawk sounds better then this.

It is disappointing that SONY can't get SE and Konami to have worked together...this should have been EASY SONY.

lol who ever pre orders a headset is stupid. YOU always read the reviews and obv. its a P.o.s. The Socom one will be so much better I can just tell already. I have the EYE and its the best mic ever I can play so far away from my tv and it picks up voice so well and if theres other sounds going on it wont pick it up only ur voice .

i really dont understand why anyone low voted you, or even the idiot who says you sound like a dick. IMO that really is the dumbest thing you can do. bluetooth headsets, like headphones, or speakers are one of the things that you just simply wait to listen to either personally...or wait for reviews. IMO i would liken preordering a headset to ordering a car from a mftr that you've never heard of, simply by looking at some pics of it (and not even know any of the specs either).
yes a car would be a hell of a lot more in terms of money to purchase, as would a good set of speakers, and probably a good set of headphones might cost more as well....but you never ever ever ever buy anything based on specs alone.
it seems like people nowadays, especially younger people have forgot the phrase "caveat emptor"

I just want to know why he was the only one to have problems with it. IGN reviews said it was working fine and that clarity was good.

TBH I don't think he's making this up, BUT he should have ran the test with the PS3 which is what it was designed for. It also might need to be ajusted (volume).

i hear ppl all the time sounding like they have socks in there mouth's. Some headsets are rly rly bad. I think the Jabra one that came with Warhawk is ok, I got the eye like i said its rly good ppl hear u loud n clear. I think those are the only 2 good ones out so far The socom one i know will be good (PS logo on it says it all). There can also be problems with your router that makes the voice screwed up or sound bad have that port enabled . Someone else please do something like this guy make a call to your phone using it and post it up w/ the results.

why would't they show it buy testing in the ps3 menu would't that just show you how it will sound in game. also why does it all of a sudden cut out to the black screen and show us this
it seems like it was done but high school students . im not going to say this thing is good but i have to say i have a hard time beliving that its that bad with out actully seeing the guy try to make a phone call or see what its like in game at the very least

tbh, i have a hard time believing it over the IGN review. Who in their right minds would release a headset to the public with that quality? no-one.

I'd like to see it work in-game myself. I really dont care about its functionality with phones. Seems like a stupid benchmark to me.

I got my headset in last night and can say that it sound crystal clear. I think this guy's problem was that the headset was rubbing against his cheek, which is kind of an issue. The mic is way too sensitive so a lot of people in CoD4 last night were complaining about my mic when I touched my headset and it rubbed against my face.
Other than that it feels comfy, and sounds great.

I'll believe it when I see it. How about you post a video and get your internet 15 minutes of fame.

The reason they show a black screen during the test was because he did actually have a sock in his mouth. They forgot to mention that.

Here's a MGS Bluetooth Review by IGN.
It says it's working well. I'm not sure what to think.

The headset works fine with my Sony Ericsson phone.
You guys used Skype to record the phonecall. Don't you know that Skype has a crappy sound?
And you have to do the instructions right on the phone and after that it works fine.

I just purchased the MGS 4 Bluetooth Headset at Best Buy and tested it out with my cell phone. It sounds great! So I am guessing that you must have gotten a defective one or something cause i linked it with my Motorolla Razor and its more clear than the cell phone.
