Chris Taylor talks Dungeon Siege 3
Miraculously, it appears that Gas Powered Games' Dungeon Siege franchise has survived a Boll-ocalypse -- that is to say, it's getting another game even after being "adapted" into a hilariously calamitous Uwe Boll film. Speaking to Eurogamer Germany (English version), Gas Powered Games boss Chris Taylor has divulged some of his plans for a third orc-killing romp. "There will be some things that are very much like Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, but some things will be simplified," he said. "I am done with multi-character parties; I really think that it's all going to be about a single hero. It's too much to manage." We can certainly get behind the idea of having fewer people to manage, as long as our hero has enough to do by his lonesome. For instance, it would be nice to be granted a choice in whether we'd like to hack or slash any given enemy.
We expect to hear more on the topic once Gas Powered Games completes work on Space Siege. Which is a lot like Dungeon Siege ... but in space.

Awww...so no more pack mule then?

The large party system was the only thing interesting about Dungeon Siege. Take that away, and you're left with a lame Diablo clone with no story, generic graphics, and identical repeating dungeons.

Well the story of 2 wasn't bad, and the side quests were pretty deep... overall the game was damn good, but I agree, the party system should stay. I mean come on, squad commands in an action RPG? Makes for good puzzle opportunity, and alot of available variety you can't get from solo mouse mashing.

For maximum sales, they should place "NO RELATION TO UWE BOLL MOVIE" on the box.

YAY! Dungeon Siege! Though I did like the Pack Mule!

Why can't they have both!. Have the single player experiance of the excellent Titan Quest, but have the option of recruiting people to help. Then the difficulty would simply increase similar to how in Diable 2 multiplayer, having more people simply boosted the enemies health/armor/damage/drop rates. Tho i think they should leave out the increase to drop rates and just increase the power of the monsters themselves to balance out having companions. There is no reason why they can't do both. Either way, i am definatly buying this game. I am very very close to finishing Dungeon Siege 2 on the hardest difficulty (about 3/4 of the way through) and i want a 3rd!

IF ANYONE CAN RELATE, COMMENT MY COMMENT:
DOES ANYONE ELSES GAME FREEZE AFTER, LIKE, 10 RUNS? THE 10 WHITE DOTS IN THE CORNER WOULD FREEZE AFTER LOADING. IVE RUN DS1 ON 2 COMPUTERS (LATEST IS A QUADCORE, NVIDIA 8500 & 3 G RAM, SO I THINK IT'S THE GAME.
BlaqueBeird @ Jun 7th 2008 6:06AM
Yuck, and 8500? Anyway, I've never heard of that happening before to myself or anyone I know that owns it. Maybe you have a bad disc and it's installing incorrectly.

Simplify Dungeon Seige?????? is that even possible? It was already simplified down to the point where it was dull as ditchwater. Does it play itself entirely now?

Dungeon Siege was an absolutely mystifying game - what on earth are you supposed to do after you accumulate 9,999,999 gold and there aren't any shops?
Here's hoping that the new game plays itself and just e-mails you your character stats, loot, and gold count, along with some screenshots of the lava level. That would definitely save a lot of otherwise wasted time.

How about if Dungeon Siege 3 just featured a pack of pack mules raiding dungeons.
