Heh... That's ridiculous. I kinda want to buy this just to have it. No way would I pay the monthly fee though. Not that it would fit on my HDD anyways :P

Yea I heard it takes like 2 months of solid playing (8 hours a day maybe?) just to get to level 75. Then you have to do that for 18 different character classes.

That doesn't matter. Anything you earned that qualified for an achievement on PC or PS2 can be unlocked on the xbox. I earned 3 of my 5 FFXI achievements prior to it ever coming out on 360. You just go to the bard in the Merry Minstrel in Lower Jeuno and it will list any achievement you qualified for and he will unlock it for you.

yeah it may have been out since 2002 but the 360 version has only been around since 2006 so it's a wee bit harder then you suggest

Just a small correction (sorry to be anal) but in FFXI the crafting limit is at 100.
Still getting Goldsmithing to 100 takes a few years, if you do it legitimately.
Also getting all jobs to 75 is a pain, as leveling up in FFXI is mega-grind, and you only get XP from a few quests (some can only be done once a week). Also throw in the fact that most of the skilled players have already got most of their jobs to 75, it makes it harder to find a decent party to level jobs, and do group quests with to get gil.
A very tough but rewarding game, made less tough if you have a good group of friends playing with you.

You can use your PC account (say one you created in 2002) on your 360. So if you already had level 75 character(s), you can talk to the relevant NPC to get the achievement. I'll be playing this game once I get time for a MMORPG, mainly playing it on PC (for the sake of controls) then going to the 360 when required.

These are by far the most difficult achievements I've ever seen in any game. Take for instance the achievement for completing a relic weapon, the most difficult of weapons to obtain in the game. To obtain one of these would take you close to 2 years if you attended every Dynamis event you could every week of the year, and had no delays in the needed currency drops and items needed. 99.9% of us will never meet anyone with 1000 gamer score in this game, much less a new goal of 1250. I've played for 4 years consistently and only have 5 achievements completed.

Lol, doesn't look like you guys are having much luck with this game.
The expence is just another cheap way of Square getting more money for every new character made and for the already expensive price tag.

LOL guess what guys? Most of the new Achievements are actually fairly easy and pain-free to get! :D
For example, you now get Achievement points for unlocking your subjob, getting a Chocobo License, getting a Ballista License, and various other things that can be completed at low levels. My highest job is BLM57, and I now have 15 Achievements for FFXI (though most of them could have been completed at levels much lower than 57).
