Hopefully not very many because the majority of that half of the war was island hopping with aircraft carriers, with very little infantry involved.

I think your all wrong.. whats the problem with another WW2 title, Return to castle wolfenstein was one of the best gameplay games I've ever played, I admit things have moved on from then but if they can acheve what they did with wolfenstein on the pc it would be great.. the level where you get bought in by boat, attack the beach, breach the sea wall attack the flame thrower dudes and climb through the air duct, grab the artifact and return it to the boat is the best multiplayer level ever.. (inc. Carentan~china town and any other cod level..

mix COD2, COD3 and Wolfenstein gameplay, add COD4 engine and graphics that has to be a winner..

(and I've played them all at serious level)..

I'm much more optimistic about the game than others it seems. WWII was really the grandest battlefield in history thus far, Modern Warfare is awesome but plot wise is exaggerated into an epic mini-war. WWII really was as big as they portray it, usually BIGGER than they portray it. COD4's system being used in Pacific settings will probably be excellent, at least as a sidekick game to COD4 (I feel like WWII today, today I want UAV and flashbangs, etc.) Not to mention I long to light annoying people on fire or go Ninja Gaiden on them if it is so allowed.

the reason why i lived the cod2,cod3 games is because of the awsome story, 3 different missions and great multiplayer.
i think cod4 lacked these things.

I am sick and tired of everyone complaining about this game. Call Of Duty is a WW2 Franchise. Also there have been just as many "modern" war games released as WW2. This game is getting a 2 year or so production time. And you also get to play as Russians. So sock it up or dont buy it you big bunch of PUSSAAYYSS!

I know that everybody is saying that this will fail. But if you read some other articles. Treyarch is going to completley overhaul the A.I. making them extremely smart. And the graphics will be amazing. This should be a great game. I like the WWII versions of Call of Duty a lot, even though Call of Duty 4 kicked ass.

Come on people, there isnt going to be aliens in this game. Its referring on how the Japanese fought in World War 2. They would rather die than surrender. They would fight to the very last man, and all most all of the Japanese soldiers during that time would give up their life in a heart beat to serve the emperor. They were also way more brutal than the Germans. Im referring to the German troops not the Nazi's who committed the Holocaust crimes, not to say that the Japanese weren't any better to their prisoners. Alot of American troops who fought the Japanese have said that they would much rather be over in Europe fighting the Germans.

But yes i agree partially with everyone else. I really wish that Treyarch would STOP making Call of Duty games. COD2 Big red one and COD3 were horrible. I really hope they dont mess this one up but i can now give a sigh of relief. I cant believe people are saying World War 2 is old, yeah because a WW2 game comes out like every month, but usually when a COD game comes out, its pretty good. There has been very little games made about the pacific campaign during WW2 and i think its about time that Call of Duty switched theatres

Regardless of how good/bad this game will be - and judging by the progress of the series it'll most likely be better than worse - I find much more personal amusement in the responses of many users to the use of the word 'alien'. Nuff said.

Whats funny is, people keep saying that "Everyone" is sick of WW2 but its total B.S. Most people I talk to still can't get enough of WW2. I'm one of them. The fact that game companies keep making WW2 titles and they sell, probably means you guys are the minority on this subject. Hate to say it but.....

I'm excited about the return to WW2 but am disappointed Treyarch is developing it. I've been playing games since Pong, and still haven't got sick of WW2. Huh, go figure.

Awwww... that's kinda gay ever since of Modern Warfare I can't go back to WWII. I was kinda worrying about the new Call of Dookie game and what time era they were going to make it but now I'm simply disappointed I was seriously expecting to play in super luscious green jungles as if in Vietnam or in Korea. I don't really care if it's modern or not just as long as it is different and creative like in COD4.

I really like some of the COD games, COD4 especially, and i dont know how well this one will be, but i just want to clarify, that just because this one sucks, and is WWII again, that next one wont be. There are two or three teams working on the call of duty series, they take turns making every other two games, showing how cod3 and cody5 suck, but cod4 doesn’t, and why it goes back to WWII. Infinity ward make the really good COD games and they put a lot of time into it, they have two games at least, in between each infinity ward game, where as Treyarch and spark unlimited, just make it real fast and through it out there.

I won't buy this game so long as it remotely resembles WWII. I have had my fill and to follow up such a great release as COD4 is an insult to my intelligence as a gamer. Hopefully, IW will release more and more maps during this downtime of COD5.

When I first heard that Call of Duty was going back to world war 2, I almost killed myself.

I was just about sick of playing the medal of honor, call of duty, and every other war game depicting wwII in the exact same way.

Suprisingly, I'm actually a little excited about this game.

None of the games so far that i have played seem to have really hit the nail on the head about what war is really like, and i don't think any game can possibly do that. But i think this game is going to come closer to it than any other game so far. It sounds like they are going to go pretty far with the storyline, and in my opinion that is a very important part of any game. BFBC won my heart because of its unique storyline.

Like skin melting off bodies and the "dark side" of war, it seems like this game may be the game that redefines how games like this should be made.

Still, I might be getting too far ahead of myself. These minor details can support no evidence of how well the game is going to turn out, and considering that call of duty 3 wasn't very good, it may suck.

But at least i have my hopes up about it. If anybody else out there agrees, post a reply or something. It seems like no one wants to see this game come out.

You guys are stupid, I herd the main characters in this game are Goku and Gohan. They can't use any guns, but they can use kamehameha and Goku can go SSJ4 while Gohan will only attain SS2 in this installment. He is trainging to defeat armies of androids led by the evil mastermind cell who is bent on absorbing everyone in the world so that he an attain his perfect form and the only one who can stand up against him is the son of kakerot, in a battle that will shape the future of the world we live in. Multiple kill streaks in multiplayer will result in the use of moves like kamehameha and spirit bomb - 10 kill streaks will be awarded with the fusion of goku and vegeta at SSJ4, allowing for the use of 100x big gang kamehameha. World war 2 wasn't even a real thing, it's a cover up so people won't find out the existance of the super saiyan transformation since it raises your power level to OVER 9000!

Quit trashing wwII! two games most that came out were good and had a good story and wer a good length. modern warfares "war" was a couple of days resulting in a short game. Cod1, finest hour, big red one, cod2,and cod3 all were long games with a good story and were based around a 6 year war. see the difernce dumbasses!
