That conversation takes more time to hear than changing the disc.

This is indeed a funny jab.

However, you guys realize that instead of swapping discs this game will have you install 5 separate times throughout the game, right? In between each act you have to install the next portion of the game, which takes several minutes.

http://www.videogaming247.com/2008/06/09/mgs4-install-times-revealed-kojima-makes-in-game-blu-ray-joke/

It reads:

"8 Minutes = first install, when you start the game.

Then before each act, the time it takes to install is as follows

Act 2 - 3 mins
Act 3 - 3 mins
Act 4 - 2 mins
Act 5 - 1 min"

Is that really a better substitute than the 10 seconds it takes to swap a disk? I thought the whole point was that you weren't interrupted, otherwise what is the point in shipping everything on one disk instead of 4 if it's just going to slow you down even more?

Wow. That's great. Thanks for the update. That info only appears on just about every page of Joystiq thanks to the 360 fanbois trying to make it into a big deal.

For a game that has 90 minute cutscenes (according to 360 fanbois), do you think adding 9 minutes in additional load time makes a big difference?

The game is 20+ hours long, 17 mins of which is load time. boo hoo.

For starters, sorry I hadn't seen it around on Joystiq. I skimmed through the comments section here briefly and didn't see it mentioned somewhere that it's very relevant.

Secondly, there was no "boo hoo'ing". Personally, it doesn't really bother me much at all (and yes I'll be buying the game). It's relevant here though because it seems silly to make fun of a 10 second process that you're replacing with a 3 minute process.

That would be like the Wii making fun of hard drives by talking about how awesome SD memory sticks are.

I kinda find it ironic that we should watch the movie if we want to (because of spoilers), but it still automatically plays.

No wait, I find it annoying.

ONE: You guys are all absolute pissing jerks for the spoiler pic at the topic of this post.

TWO: Same for you commenters doing that.

THREE: I'm so absolutely SICK of cods who think it's funny to spoil movies and stuff.

FOUR: Not EVERYONE sees movies/plays game when they come out. Just because it's not really recent doesn't mean you should spoil it.

FIVE: Read the FOUR again.

okay big spoiler dont read if you dont want to know.

that comes at a point in the game where you have to go back to shadow moses (the place in MGS1) and you come to a point where in MGS1 is the exact place where you would have to of changed the discs, therefor it is in reference to MGS1.

also theres a stab at the sixaxis in the game, psycho mantis is there and trys to control your saves and controller, and go no, your using sixaxis, no vibrate!.
and also says you dont have a memory card, i cant hack your files or something like that.

theres also a reference to saving where it shows you a picture of a PS1 with a memory card plugged into.

and finally a reference to COD4 about kids playing video games which train them up for the army then a screenshot from cod4 comes up as a flashback.

ALSO MGS4 is amazing game, completed it watched every cutscene on the edge of my seat not wanting to play but to find out the story and i ma now going through the game again its that good.

remember the all of the above is spoilers, dont blame me if you looked.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. It is at most a small plug for Blu-ray, but since you are back at the same place that you had to swap discs in MGS1 they decided to reference that in MGS4. There are other places where this happens as well, especially when you try and repeat a tactic for a certain boss that was previously needed in a past game.
