meh, we've been playing some DAMN good games for well over a year now, and we'll be playing more.

So it wasn't that huge of a loss, they'll do something for 2010.

That's really pathetic... and it COMPLETELY screws with any immersion.

What really bothers me is that developers are sure to be fanboy's (they are human afterall) but I expect that to be left out of their work; you know, be professionals.

This is not the fanboy in me saying this but rather someone looking at a great product and thinking, "Wow, that was childish / immature".

And it's a disc format, not disk. A: is a disk, D: is a disc (opitcal).

And FOR THE RECORD, was Blu-Ray and HD DVD out when the Xbox 360 was released!? DVD was and IS by no means prehistoric at this point. CD is venturing on prehistoric but even the CD has MANY pro's versus cons.

What is funny how you have to do 5 seperate installs throughout the game instead . I can swap a disc faster than those installs will take ... behold the power of PS3 !!!

You mean like when Psycho Mantis rumbled your controller in the first MGS, and read your memory card for save games? Little jokes like these are part of the series.

2 points.

1st. The obvious.
2nd. This is basically in-game advertising, and is disgusting.. especially since they've already purchased the machine, the games, and to a lesser extent, the movies.

Somebody order a flame-war combo? I wrote thos on my blog today. Purely satire of course.
_______

Microsoft claims the 360’s power and features go full circle on all aspects - including it’s ability to confuse the frak out of fans!

Rumors of Blu-ray integrated 360’s to be launched near years end to compete with Sony have been sending hope to fans not wanting to pay bloated marketplace rental fees for an inferior HD experience. Rumors would then be squashed only to return to headlines to be squashed again.

The truth - the Xbox 360 is a “work in progress” console with multiple personality SKU’s. Early adopters are just guinea pigs while Microsoft concentrates on it’s software library. Unfortunately concentrating on one’s software library leads to XBLA congestion and de-listing while hardware suffers “the ring”.

One insider source hints at “an E3 announcement” of a Blu-ray 360. Is the effort too little too late? How many SKU’s will be released until they get it “right” when people willing to wait on quality titles can go into a store this day to buy a Playstation 3 with everything they need for a true HD experience, minus in-game XMB and full featured online.

Are all these consoles really good for the market for us consumers to have a full featured entertainment experience? How many asses does it take to kiss to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Uniconsole? The world may never know.

Different people want different things. I bought a 360 for the game library and the online service. The 360 has more than delivered on both aspects. Microsoft has done a phenomenal job with getting great games on their console and building a fantastic service with their dashboard and XBL. The only mistakes that Microsoft has made in this generation is A) not including a hard drive in all models and B) having reliable hardware. Not putting an HD media drive in the 360 was a smart move by Microsoft. It kept the cost of the console down and in the end, the company that profits wins.

Umm...and the PS3 has released how many SKU's since it was released?

Don't quote me on this but, first it was a 20GB SKU and a 40GB SKU with backwards compatibility, then a 40GB SKU and a 60GB SKU without backwards compatibility, then a 60GB SKU and an 80GB SKU.

Let's not forget that they just released the Dull Shock 3 a little over a month ago. And they still haven't integrated full featured online or in-game XMB and Home is STILL in development.

PS3 is very much a work-in-progress just as much as the 360. I'd say even more so since they've been late to the party with pretty much everything this generation.

yea richard mitchell, you are obviously not seeing the humor there.

the joke is to the old mgs fans of old who had to switch disks, and by the way i cant stand when people just call bluray disks a 'hd' format. its just a physical disk format, it has nothing to do with the content on it.

cd dvd bluray flash memory and hard drives can all contain sd and hd content on them the only difference is storage capacity!

fanboy wars = people trying to hide the flaws in there system of choice by pointing out the flaws in others

they seem to fail to mention slow read speeds of the Blu-ray drive/disc so you need to duplicate the data & ALSO install onto the Hard Drive.

In engine cut scenes anyone? well u could if u had any faith in your game engine.

compression anyone? Fable 2 can be compressed from 800GB to just 8GB!

wow look at the 360 fanboy backlash. ok let me clear some things up.

This joke is not clear weather its poking fun at the 360 or if its about MGS1 which is the only game in the series you HAD to switch discs to play. the other games had second discs with EXTRA content on them.

Also, the only install time that really matters, is when you first pop it in. The short ones in between are happening doing cut scenes and extra things so you're not just sitting there waiting for it to install, you're actually watching and doing something.

Who ever said Fable 2 was 800 gbs is insane. Fable 2 isn't even near 80 gbs, nor can a game really be compressed of that size down to 8 gb and still work the same. Its not possible

we'll it looks like your clearly wrong seeing as it was stated in one of the Fable 2 Dev Diarys that, because of their comression techniques, the game can be comressed to a 100th of its original size - i'm pretty sure it was Peter Molyneux that said it.

I think some ppl are reading the joke too closely to the point that they believe it is joke against the 360. When I heard of the joke, I thought it was in regards to the previous MGS games where it tells you to change disk during a codec conversation. Almost all the previous metal gear games had mutliple disk

Just the idea of an optical format being revolutionary is ludicrous. Let's trust a company who has created two other proprietary formats in the last 15 years. Let's see there was the betamax...wow that failed miserably to VHS and was better technology. Then we have the mini-disc...which was decent technology. I even owned several mini-disc players...me and three other people. Microsoft is smart for not jumping into this new optical format bullshit. In 2010 when we get the Xbox 3 with impeded USB ports for flash drives PS3 owners are going to realize how fucked they are.

I mean this game is not the first to do the change disk joke(Monkey Island 1 did a similar jab in askin the gamer to insert a nonexistant floppy disk.) I think the only folks who are madare the ones who are way into this mindless "console wars" thingy.

i am okay with dvd discs, and not having to load game info onto the hdd to be honest. Also the only possible reason the game wont fit onto a dvd disc is the stupidly long cutscenes, i would sooner play that watch, i have movies for that. The storyline is stupid anyway

It is a freaking joke that pokes fun of the previous game and not the 360. You can cry all you want and take this joke personally as if they said something bad about your family or take it as nothing as ajab agasint the old metal gear games that ask for disc B or disk 2.

It's a funny jab but what's the point in not having to swap discs when you have to stop in the middle of the game to install new content 5 times?

Apparently at points where you previously would've spent 10 seconds to swap a disc, you now wait 3 minutes for another install (6 total in the game counting the one at the start).

Hahaha the article and the comments are killing me. "Inferiority complex?" Hahaha Come on guys you can do better than that! Like, I don't know, "nananananana, at least we don't have installs that improve the experience" or "at least we only have a few games with multiple discs and PGR4 only had to remove the night/day cycles!" I didn't find the jab funny until I came here. I think this site has an inferiority complex actually. Had it ever occured to you that it might be a jab at Sony's own PS1? You know, since it's the only console where you as Solid Snake had to switch discs? But of course fanboys, give the joke some flesh. *wipes tears off face*

So true, Slomo. I find this article funny as well, which is why I am makin alot of comments.

But yeah, it is a jab against the Gamecube twin snakes game, as well as the original solid game for the playstation. I don't see this as a jab against the 360. I can see this as a jab if the dialogue had something like "Oh wait, this is the ps3 and not that other console with the X as the logo."
