New games this week: Metal Gear Solid 4 edition

What, you're surprised? You thought perhaps we'd use the global Joystiq stage to feature NASCAR 09 or Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm? Nope, it's all about Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, finally being released on an unsuspecting public this Thursday.

This is by no means a one-snake show though. The 360's getting Don King Prizefighter, and the somewhat intriguing Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles is coming to the DS. But, of course, the biggest non-MGS 4 release has to be Snood Deluxe on the PC. Let us be the first to say: "Finally, we can pay money to play Snood again."

The ending cutscene is long...as in REALLY long.

Well that certainly makes sense because the ending of MGS2 was far, far too short.

And to think... SOME of you people want PETER JACKSON developing games. I can imagine some of the achievements. "Stare at a tree as Strider for 12 hours."

Oh my god oh my god. I am so close to actually spending $400 I don't have because I want MGS4 so badly. I've been avoiding spoilers like the plague, but I don't think I can keep myself from looking very long. FOR CHRISSAKE KONAMI JUST TELL US YES OR NO IF ITS COMING TO XBOX.

Sony has it wrapped up, and Kojima doesnt like the limitations that the 360 has in terms of disk space.

If it does come out for 360, it will be at least a year.

GO AHEAD AND JUST BUY THE DAMN PS3...

Even if it ever does come to the 360 it will be a long ways out. Sell an organ or some stuff on ebay or whatever you have to do and just get it now. There are several other exclusives you'll want to get your hands on anyway even if MGS does eventually come to the 360.

Ninja Gaiden II for Australia on June 12th...I'd say don't forget that, but I'm sure we're considered lower than Canada ;p

8 Minutes = first install, when you start the game.

Then before each act, the time it takes to install is as follows

Act 2 - 3 mins
Act 3 - 3 mins
Act 4 - 2 mins
Act 5 - 1 min

That isnt a rumor, that is what people that have already finished the game (and released videos of it) have reported....

And no, I don't see it as something good, but not as something sad either, have you seen how huge the game is? how much is going on at one time? not only that, but there have been NO reports of framerate drop

So no, I don't see 2 mins braek between 5 chapters of a game that is about 26 - 28 hrs long as something bad, more so when it is smooth as butter and has so much going on at one time...

Broham, that is just plain laughable. You should have used KZ2 as an example. If Snake can walk hunched over from place to place there isn't "thats much stuff going on" that I haven't seen in COD4 or even in the Gears 2 gameplay vid. Look at the PMC's movements. They haven't changed since MGS for crying out loud. Stiff is stiff. But I'm not here to bash it because I still wanna play this game. I'm just not pissing myself in my pants to be able to play it. More hyped for what KZ2 and R2 have in store.

And you'll bash the PS3 every chance you get Fenix, so what's the difference between you two. It's also very wierd since you have a ps3.

I love how PS3 fans make fun of 360 fans because every eight hours, they have to get up to change a disc. Then 360 fans make fun of PS3 fans right back because every eight hours, they have to sit through a three minute installation.

Let's face it. If it was ten years ago, we'd all be arguing whether Nikes or Reeboks were better, just because we love fighting so much. Don't ever change, guys. Even though we dance the same dance every day, I can't say it doesn't make me smile. Cheers.

KZ2 and MGS are quite different, and yes, I agree that KS2 has a hell lot of stuff going on on the background, but hey, its different than in MGS4, one is a war between Humans and Helgasts, while the other is simply much smaller teams...

I wasn't really into the beta, I'm hoping the game is much better than the beta. I'm sure it will be, I'll most def give it a shot.

The beta was the multiplayer, which only a few people care about. It's the single player that everyone wants.

Yeah the MP beta was not too interesting to me, but this is a game you play for the SP first. I will be grabbing it as soon as I can.
