Orta would be perfect for the Wii, or better yet, an all new Panzer Dragoon game, maybe even Wii Ware.

Lost Winds proved that a Wii Ware game can look great, so why not?

Guess which Fanboy has been saying that for months.....
Thank you guys for backing me up on this one, although lots of people have agreed with my thoughts on Orta or even a new Panzer Dragoon being the perfect game for the IR pointer/Wii treatment, it's nice to see bloggers such as yourself joining my crusade. I love you guys!

Orta would be fun on the Wii.

But next week do God Hand. I haven't talked about how awesome God Hand is in about 3 weeks.

You may have to wait a little while to talk about God Hand in this column, but let's just say you may have something to look forward to.

In fact, here's a posting (well, it's one of many, actually) I made right here on NintendoWiiFanboy from April 30th of this year:

"Yes, Yes and yes! I have been ranting about this on message boards for quite some time now. I'd settle for a Panzer Dragoon Orta port from Xbox1, but a new sequel would be even better. Or even a remake compilation. Hell, if Sega can bring back the lesser known (and much less enjoyable) Nights, then why not the always flawless Panzer Dragoon series? Seriously, Panzer Dragoon Orta was arguably the greatest shooter of all time and one of the best games ever released on the Xbox1. These games would be even better (I mean god-like) with IR control. Sega, make Panzer Dragoon Wii now, damnit! I command thee!"

So yes, I agree with this new column 100% and then some.

I think this is an obvious choice for the Wii Zapper as well! Sega proved that the Wii Zapper is worth owning with House of the Dead and there is absolutely no reason they couldn't make it work with this game. Actually I think this game was born to be played with the Wii Zapper.

I would like new games of retro franchies. We need to quit asking for ports!

I'd buy it. Is Orta backwards compatible on 360? Someone should tell me, because looking things up is SUPER HARD WORK.

I heard that the unlockable Saturn Panzer game doesn't work on the 360 though, is this true?

(It seems using a "less than" symbol breaks your post...)

I "less than"3'd PDO on Xbox but I don't think I'd want to play it again on Wii so as most people have already said, I'd prefer a sequel or somesuch. I also like this feature a lot; maybe if a dev pops its head into the internet from time to time, it'll get some good ideas!

And hello Wesley, nice to see a growing cast on here :)

So, this is a Star Fox 64 for XBox huh???

If they are bringing this to the Wii, I hope they work those graphics, they looks like N64, think this one is the Saturn version of the game right??

That's the PC port of the original Saturn game Panzer Dragoon. The xbox game (Panzer Dragoon Orta) was beautiful even by today's visual standards.

Panzer Dragoon Orta is still one of the most beautiful games I have ever played and seven years later it still puts many current games to shame. Unfortunately, the chances of a port or remake seem slim. But Sega do love to spring surprises so you never know.

Panzer Dragoon Saga goes for £90 on Ebay; are you taking the hint Sega.

I would have to say anything from Tim Schafer, past or future. The further adventures of Manny Calavera would have me preordering on the spot.

Some day I'd like to give Grim Fandango a try, but it's hard to squeeze in older games if I can't turn it into a work project. Point-and-click adventures would fit the Wii well, but they should work with the simplest of already-available mousing scripts.

It had a great and touching story, great sense of humor, and an original art style. All things that help to make a game great. Obviously, its a bit dated now. If memory serves correctly, it wasn't even a point and click game. Just moved with the arrow keys and interacted with the keyboard.

A little marketing idea for Sega. Since Panzer Dragoon was never a big selling franchise, launch Orta at a really budget price (what about $20?) and you'll have a bigger fanbase for a proper sequel.

And great new topic this "Born for Wii".

I'm a huge fan of careful Wii ports. I'd love to see half the original Xbox library on Wii. I'd love to see Virtua Tennis on Wii. I would love, love, LOVE to see a classic RTS like Starcraft on Wii with pointer controls. I want Ocarina of Time on Wii with Twilight Princess controls. How about Metroid Prime 1 and 2 in 480p widescreen with nunchuck/wiimote functionality? Awesome.

The whole point of Wii is that the controls change everything. It would be a wonderful nostalgic experience to go through quality older games with a more intuitive and enjoyable control system.

I have no interest in NES or even SNES games on the Wii. But I would LOVE to see only-just-old games polished up and Wii-ficated.

I agree with this wholeheartedly! The excellent use of motion controls have made some of my favorite Wii experiences even better! I remember when MP3 came out and I got that and Bioshock at the same time. It was so hard to go back and forth because MP3 was just so damn intuitive!

And now I must go play PDO and cry a little that I want it w/ Wii controls...
