Uhm, wasn't there already a special version of the DS for China? I'd reckon the Taiwanese would want that one because Chinese is their language too.

Kimiko: Taiwanese uses traditional Chinese, while Mainland China used that mess up looking simplified Chinese. Plus they're like enemies in many ways (the Taiwanese people I know get mad if you lump them with the Mainlanders).

Ah, okay. I knew about the latter of course, but I'm not very familiar with the various forms of Chinese. Sorry..

Huh. That's strange. I lived in Taiwan from 2003-2007, and the DS was very common. Lots of the kids in the school I worked at had them (there was one girl from my first-grade class named Michelle that routinely murdered me at Mario Kart DS), and they were available for sale at every major store (Chung Yo, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, SoGo, etc.).

Didn't realize they didn't have a distributor. Unfortunately, Taiwan is a breeding ground for bootlegs :T

But certainly they could have found someone better than FarEasTone, right? That's like making T-Mobile the official distributor of the DS in the States- why a cellphone company?
