In an upcoming interview with Videogaming247, Prince of Persia's "community development manager" Chris Easton apparently backtracks from producer Ben Mattes' assertion that there would be no co-op support, despite the clearly cooperative gameplay between the prince and Elika, his deadly new ally.
Easton told the site, "There are no plans for co-op as of now, but we may explore the possibility" – which, according to our Noncommittal Marketing Speak to English dictionary, puts the chances of co-op being added into the game somewhere between "not happening" and "potentially not not happening." For what it's worth, Joystiq would like to throw its full support behind adding more gameplay options to highly anticipated games. We know that sounds radical, but that's just how we feel.

More co-op makes more win.

I think she looks exactly like the girl from Final Fantasy XIII...at least in that painting she looks almost the same.

Interesting... the Prince games have always been kind of a solo pleasure to enjoy when I want to be alone, but we'll see how co-op does for the game.

uh huh. So apparently playing so many games is worse than just appearing in random threads bashing the console your mommy didn't buy you because you're an insecure little 12 year old? riiiiight.

I'm really digging that this game could be a real "power couple" game. Yeah, the guy is in the lead, but this game could be a step forward in some cool ways.

Haven't gotten my wife to play games at all until recently. She's logged many hours with Lego Indiana Jones - we've been having a blast.

Well I did, but only slightly.
First and foremost I'm glad that the female or princess of the game is taking a little more active role in saving the land. You know a little more than Zelda and Peach. Thats not a knock at Peach or Zelda. I'm just saying this game is geared toward old gamers so I'm happy for something more than just "save the princess".
Secondly, yeah, if they include a co-op mode I'll actually get to play WITH my girlfriend. I spoke to her over the phone about today at lunch and she said it would be way awesome if they included it for the same reason. It was on her mind too.
Like many have echoed, it'll be nice to have a game that we can play with our significant others rather than having them watch us.

Come on, if there is already an AI ally, at least give us the option to control it.
