Prince of Persia co-op: 'possibility' being explored
In an upcoming interview with Videogaming247, Prince of Persia's "community development manager" Chris Easton apparently backtracks from producer Ben Mattes' assertion that there would be no co-op support, despite the clearly cooperative gameplay between the prince and Elika, his deadly new ally.
Easton told the site, "There are no plans for co-op as of now, but we may explore the possibility" – which, according to our Noncommittal Marketing Speak to English dictionary, puts the chances of co-op being added into the game somewhere between "not happening" and "potentially not not happening." For what it's worth, Joystiq would like to throw its full support behind adding more gameplay options to highly anticipated games. We know that sounds radical, but that's just how we feel.

More co-op makes more win.
Especially when you have a significant other to please...
Tiptup300 @ Jun 10th 2008 12:36PM
Co-op should be added to every game.
dark_inchworm @ Jun 10th 2008 2:00PM
Even Solitaire. Think about it!
fwacce @ Jun 10th 2008 11:41AM
Wait, does anyone else think that Elika happens to look nothing like Natalie Portman?
Tim The Enchanter @ Jun 10th 2008 12:54PM
You're right, she does look nothing like Natalie Portman.
David @ Jun 10th 2008 9:22PM
I think she looks exactly like the girl from Final Fantasy XIII...at least in that painting she looks almost the same.
Garp @ Jun 10th 2008 12:06PM
Interesting... the Prince games have always been kind of a solo pleasure to enjoy when I want to be alone, but we'll see how co-op does for the game.
Kurifurisan @ Jun 10th 2008 12:07PM
co-op could be interesting.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jun 10th 2008 12:12PM
uh huh. So apparently playing so many games is worse than just appearing in random threads bashing the console your mommy didn't buy you because you're an insecure little 12 year old? riiiiight.
riggs @ Jun 10th 2008 12:21PM
lolwut?
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jun 10th 2008 12:22PM

Now I really want to know what it said :(
finnith @ Jun 10th 2008 7:15PM
Everything he says usually goes like this:
"Blah Blah Blah, this game sucks, Blah Blah Blah, 360 and/or Wii sucks Blah Blah Blah PS3 and/or Sony rulez"
Deck @ Jun 10th 2008 12:31PM
Co-op! This could be...quite interesting! Can't wait for this PoP!
Obie @ Jun 10th 2008 12:37PM
Can I play as Natalie Portman?
I can't get enough co-op games, sounds good to me!
Jack @ Jun 10th 2008 12:51PM
I'm really digging that this game could be a real "power couple" game. Yeah, the guy is in the lead, but this game could be a step forward in some cool ways.
fuze9 @ Jun 10th 2008 1:18PM
yeah, I know this isn't what you meant, but there aren't enough games that can be played co-op with the gf/wife
Professor Lario @ Jun 10th 2008 2:09PM
Haven't gotten my wife to play games at all until recently. She's logged many hours with Lego Indiana Jones - we've been having a blast.
Jack @ Jun 10th 2008 4:31PM
Well I did, but only slightly.
First and foremost I'm glad that the female or princess of the game is taking a little more active role in saving the land. You know a little more than Zelda and Peach. Thats not a knock at Peach or Zelda. I'm just saying this game is geared toward old gamers so I'm happy for something more than just "save the princess".
Secondly, yeah, if they include a co-op mode I'll actually get to play WITH my girlfriend. I spoke to her over the phone about today at lunch and she said it would be way awesome if they included it for the same reason. It was on her mind too.
Like many have echoed, it'll be nice to have a game that we can play with our significant others rather than having them watch us.
Ethan @ Jun 10th 2008 5:41PM
I totally get you.
Jakka @ Jun 10th 2008 1:23PM
PRINCE OF TWO!?
Rukasu @ Jun 10th 2008 3:36PM
Come on, if there is already an AI ally, at least give us the option to control it.
Ethan @ Jun 10th 2008 5:42PM
Elika looks like a more interesting character at this point and I'd rather play as her. Maybe that'll change.
chuckdudeson @ Jun 16th 2008 7:49PM
not gonna lie i am feeling a little about this PoP compared to the others seems slighty less....well violent everyone knows PoP & GoW are trying to out do each other and i don't think this new guy cuts he doesnt look nowhere near ass badass as before
still i'll definetly give it a try. hope that co-op idea pushes through
