Hancock game trailer sets new standard for movie tie-ins
No developer was mentioned, so we're only left to guess. Could it be Samara? Could it be ... Satan?! Anyway, we tip our collective hat to you, nameless developer of this super crappy online Hancock game. Much like a superhero, with this one trailer, you have saved the video game buying world from both peril and wasted money.

Nope, it's past April alright.
peteH @ Jun 12th 2008 12:39PM
Coming to a Wii near you soon. :)
Scryen @ Jun 11th 2008 9:21PM
They made a sequel to Superman 64?
Drago Dracini @ Jun 11th 2008 10:01PM
Superman 62-2: Electric Boogaloo.
ch0rx @ Jun 11th 2008 10:22PM
as Drago references my favorite album from MTB, the world keeps spinning. +1 internet Drago :)
UNC_Samurai @ Jun 11th 2008 9:20PM
It's amazing how the game-buying public seems unwilling to hold license-based titles to any standard.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Jun 12th 2008 7:25AM
That's quite a specious statement to make; it's not the game-buying public, but the one's gaming coineseurs holds them to no standard. A worrying amount of the game-buying public don't hold games to standards at all, buying them on behalf of children, for example, on name-recognition alone.
Seriously, though, based on this game footage the entire thing is a series of you running into things and punching them. Looks decidedly un-fun, methinks.
Hafk @ Jun 11th 2008 9:20PM
GAME OF THE YEAR 2008.
Also, this game will probably sell just as much as any other movie tie in too.
Hashbrown Hunter @ Jun 12th 2008 3:52AM
But it's an online game so I seriously doubt it will go anywhere.
JJ Rooster @ Jun 12th 2008 8:50AM
They'll port it to Wii, but they'll have to tone down the graphics.
Dr. @ Jun 11th 2008 9:20PM
Dear God! I can't look away!
Awesome rental CONFIRMED.
Deck @ Jun 11th 2008 9:21PM
That was..... incredible!
I want more! MORE!
Yadneb @ Jun 11th 2008 9:24PM
Wait, that was a joke right...
teenagertc @ Jun 11th 2008 9:25PM
Good gosh I thought you guys were all joking about the graphics!! Who allowed this thing to be released!! If this sells for $60 I would laugh so hard!!
Jason @ Jun 11th 2008 9:26PM
I think this is AN ONLINE GAME... meaning playable on a website... look at the title of the trailer... it says "Play the game based on the movie ONLINE"...
If that is the case the graphics are not that bad for web based 3D.
Tank @ Jun 11th 2008 9:31PM
I think you're right...then trailer reminds me of the 3D Shockwave games available on Miniclip and other such websites.
Dr. @ Jun 11th 2008 9:31PM
I did a little research, and sadly this is the truth.
Still... Who okayed a trailer for this?
TrojanGuy @ Jun 11th 2008 9:56PM
Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. I'm pretty sure this is a game that's gonna be available on their website for free, not a retail game.
Co @ Jun 11th 2008 11:08PM
Yeah, this revelation kinda deadens Joystiq's beat down of an article.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jun 12th 2008 2:44AM
oh thank god your right. i was gonna say, if those are PS3 and 360 graphics, someone should get the axe for approving that trash.
Todd @ Jun 12th 2008 10:28AM
Confirmed. With a little journalistic leg-work, we find:
http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/hancock/site/games/gameshell.html
Which lists "Fight & Flight" as one of the online games "coming soon." Two other games are already available.
NerdErk @ Jun 11th 2008 9:27PM
They just don't care, do they?
kataztrophy @ Jun 11th 2008 9:27PM
Greatest trailer of all time. Actual gameplay footage FTW!!!!
Jeffrey @ Jun 11th 2008 9:33PM
Bwha ha ha ha. This has got to be a joke.
Mike918 @ Jun 11th 2008 9:32PM
It says its online...do you people read?
Will @ Jun 11th 2008 9:34PM
Someone already mentioned it's online.
Do YOU read?
Mike918 @ Jun 11th 2008 9:36PM
No actually i like to ignore the people....naa just kidding... when i opened the page jason's comment wasn't there.
markhill66 @ Jun 11th 2008 9:36PM
Wow, that was ugly.
The movie looks pretty good, though.
Negativecool @ Jun 11th 2008 9:37PM
This has got to be a promotional joke....I mean...please god let it be that.
Skunk Ape @ Jun 11th 2008 9:38PM
ROFL! That game looks amazing. Im pretty sure the developer was some kid using macromedia flash.
foodgoes @ Jun 11th 2008 9:40PM
Is that Inspector Gadget jumping at him?
andrew @ Jun 11th 2008 9:41PM
Is that game for my cell phone?
Dave T @ Jun 11th 2008 10:23PM
That's what I was thinkin'...
Mr.ESC @ Jun 11th 2008 9:42PM
Dammit Hulu isn't avalible in´my Country and I want to see the Church Lady again.I love the superiority dance.
Anyway I really want to see Super Hobo! the Movie.
About th eonline game well at least the online game is free, right?
Zsavior @ Jun 11th 2008 9:43PM
More importantly there was a church lady reference, man the church lady owned. Before stewart before Colbert there was the church lady.
deddyluger @ Jun 11th 2008 9:44PM
looks about as good as the movie
komamura @ Jun 11th 2008 9:47PM
So is this the new Superman 64 of this console generation?
Ranus Studios @ Jun 11th 2008 9:48PM
I remember the Nintendo 64!
Phillip @ Jun 11th 2008 9:54PM
I like how they chose a song titled "Move Bitch" for such a game.
The movie looks somewhat worse than the game. Which is saying something.
Jeffrey @ Jun 11th 2008 10:04PM
That song is used on my frequent radio station when they're going over traffic. Now I will never be able to hear traffic stuff again without thinking of this, this... this abomination.
kagai @ Jun 11th 2008 10:07PM
Sung to the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic:
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of 3D
Hancock is so awesome that I think I just might pee
I simply cannot wait for the PSN release.
This game will be FREAKIN' SWEEETTT!
Ghostbuddy @ Jun 11th 2008 10:07PM
If it was a retail game it would be utter crap. It would seriously be No. 2 on my "most pathetic thing a developer has done" list. Right behind that game that ripped enviroments straight from Obilivion.
But its a free, browser based game. Created just to create a little more buzz for a movie. In that light, this game looks pretty good.
Kyattsuai @ Jun 11th 2008 10:15PM
This is a marginally better idea for a Will Smith game than the I Am Legend MMORPG.
colin @ Jun 12th 2008 1:45AM
i get it ...
mundox @ Jun 11th 2008 10:16PM
Dude that's a flash game they are gonna release on their site.
Kevin @ Jun 11th 2008 11:18PM
I never even paid any attention to the gameplay. I was fixated on the image of Will Smith whistling throughout the trailer. That was way more amusing than whatever gameplay that was.
WiNG [Life in a Game] @ Jun 12th 2008 12:12AM
APPROACHING THE SOUND BARRIER!!!
LOOK, A NUT!
Carlitos Colon @ Jun 12th 2008 12:24AM
WHAT?????? You didn't see all those P's?
Matthew @ Jun 12th 2008 1:41AM
This seriously does look like Superman 64, only the fog isn't green.
