Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion in the works

Based off a translation from Spanish site Neverwinteros, IGN reports that a new Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion is in development. Obsidian confirmed that the expansion, called Storm of Zehir, will include full party customization and "free exploration of a non-linear game world via an Overland Map."
Players will take control of their party during a post-war economic recovery period, choosing whether to ally with syndicates or obtain items through nefarious means and sell them on the black market. There's currently no announced timetable for a release.

I was hoping for this. MotB was the best recent PC role playing game. And after I was disappointed with Mass Effect, Obsidian is my new king of RPGs.
So I'm definitely looking forward to more material from the same developer.

I'm playing Mask of the Betrayer right now and am having fun with it. But I still think the production values are terrible, and the art to be awful. Nearly every character model clips into other models during battles. The spell effects are so over the top and messy that they obscure battles. In many ways I think NWN1 is the cleaner looking game, if not better looking as a whole. The AI is terrible in all Bioware and Obsidian games, too. Blech. Why do they bother with such complicated rulesets when their AI is so braindead? There's no point..

I agree, that a lot of the technical stuff isn't good in Neverwinter Nights 2. But I mainly care about the story and characters in RPGs. And they definitely delivered on that in MotB.

I used to be one hell of a Cleric back in my days of NWN1 but I never got NWN2 since the reviews were so lame also I was playing Guildwars back then but tell me
is there a Dragon server like the one in Neverwinter nights? You know the server where each time starts with a Dragon and the other team must kill the other team Dragon.
NWN2 is like in 20$ and the expansions are cheap too I would like to revive the old glory days.I think I was 3rd or 2nd in the old Dragon server.

"I used to be one hell of a Cleric".
Yes I'm aware of the irony but I was really good I killed 6 guys at the same time in PvP with sword barrier. It was awesome.

KotOR's battle system was pretty terrible in general, it didnt allow for much in the way of tactics or skill. On a technical level KotOR was pretty poor (AI, combat, inventory, UI) but the story, characters, production design and graphics were good enough that it didn't matter.
But imagine what a game it could have been with decent battles...
(not played mass effect yet, but at least it sounds like they MIGHT have sorted out the UI for the PC version)

I don't know anything about this game, but whatever's going on in that picture is pretty neat.

My thoughts exactly.

Personally, I found Neverwinter Nights 2 a bit of a let down. Even after 500 MB of patches.

It also doesn't help that Atari released it when it was halfway through the debug process. Couple that with SecuROM crap and yeah... my last computer almost went boom because of it.

Never played NWN2, but i know that Mask of the Betrayer was considered to be WAY WAY BETTER than the original NWN2 game.
I think NWN2 was rushed, and MotB was their attempt to make up for it. Several sites said it was their RPG of the year, but i think it went mostly un-noticed due to being an expansion pack of an averagely reviewed game.
I still haven't forgiven obsidian for KotOR2 though...
