Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta starts June 25
We'll be honest, at this point we wish Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix would finally release just so we never have to double-check that we spelled the title's name correctly again, but we still have this beta to get through. The Capcom Blog says the beta will begin June 25 and can only be accessed by purchasing the Xbox 360 version of Commando 3, which released today on XBLA.
On June 25, owners of Commando 3 will gain entry to the SSFIITHDR portion of the menu, which will take them to an XBL blade where they can download the beta. Capcom reiterates that the beta is unfortunately only available on Xbox 360 and not PS3. The release of SSFIITHDRWTFGTFOBBQ simply can't come fast enough.

From what I read, there will only be one stage, and only Ken and Ryu will be available. It doesn't seem worth it - unless you like Commando 3, and bought it anyway.

360 for the mothafreaking win!
Can't wait for some REAL SF!
Alexander @ Jun 11th 2008 7:40PM
Jesus fucking Christ Capcom, just release the god damned game already!
Chase @ Jun 11th 2008 7:42PM
It's because UDON underestimated how much effort it would take to do it, and had to outsource labor to complete it.

And gimped the graphics too.

Well, considering this is the first street fighter to have online play i think it's pretty cool to roll out a beta. I mean...they are essentially using people to test out the games online functionality. While some people think you shouldn't have to buy another game to play betas i disagree. If anyone was able to participate in a beta you would have way too many people in it.
dmbrandon @ Jun 11th 2008 8:06PM
Third Strike, ST, and Hyper fighting all had online play. Homework.
Anyway, I don't care if it's 10$ for 2 characters. FAKE FIREBALL.
Erik Johnson @ Jun 11th 2008 7:45PM

Dammit! Capcom loves appending words to "Street Fighter II" so much that even though they're up to IV now they're still doing it. Super Street Fighter II Championship Turbo Puzzle Hyper Mini HD Remix Edition: Alpha Beta Online
Orionsaint @ Jun 11th 2008 7:59PM
Aww man now I have to buy Commando 3 whether I like it or not.
CJH @ Jun 11th 2008 8:08PM
Wait, so can you play the beta online?
SoulBlade @ Jun 11th 2008 8:39PM
This game is taking way too long to release. By the time it hits, SF4 will be right around the corner. I'm not sure if I'd pick this up until much later if SF4 is close.
I think they missed their window.
But sadly, I'll still have it at some point. Sigh.
PrinceKing @ Jun 11th 2008 9:08PM
dag nabbit xbox folk. 10 bucks this beta will be better than SF4. *sigh* can a ps3 fanboy get any love?
off [street fighter] topic
does anyone know anything about the Socom beta?
DangerMouse @ Jun 11th 2008 9:36PM
The game is Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo...just shiny.
zumakalis @ Jun 11th 2008 9:09PM
@dumbrandon
Legitimate online. Online that potentially hundreds of thousands will be playing across multiple platforms. Not some dreamcast or xbox game that ten people took online. homowork. I'm sure also that this is a beta beta for future fighting game installments Capcom plans to take online.
Ninjakamster (PS360 FTW!) @ Jun 11th 2008 9:39PM
:Cue SDF member whining:
Capcom should just publicly state they loathe the PS3, just come out with an official public release, we all know it by now.
What with not making DMC4 exclusive with a 5gb mandatory install, giving us a mediocre port of Lost Planet again with the 5gb install, not giving us the beta of SSF2 Turbo HD Remix, cancelling Monster Hunter 3 and bringing it to the Wii, etc etc etc.
What about your Japanese fanbase at least? Many more have the PS3 than 360 so why shun it so badly?
Whats up Capcom? You used to be cool. : (
:End:

The 360 peoples can have their beta, which will soon be over. Once all that fun for them is over, I'll keep on having my PS3 d-pad, making this game a lot more fun. Oh well. I guess we can't all have our cake and eat it too.
thegears @ Jun 12th 2008 1:43AM
some of 360 users have joysticks, you know.
Deejayking987 @ Jul 24th 2008 2:37PM
Listen folks...... If you are a true street fighter 2 fan and have x-box live, there is absolutly no reason you shouldn't get this beta version of the game! It gives us a little taste of what's to come. It plays great, looks great (new sprites) and sounds great! True the x-box controller is a little clunky and sluggish at times, it's the prettiest SF2 to date. Even as a beta! For those sad PS3 owners, that have a problem with capcom ONLY releasing it for the 360.... Well just go play metal gear solid 4! (exclusivity sucks huh?)
