Half-confirming earlier rumblings, Turbine has gone on record to state that they are actively developing a console-based MMO. It's not known at this time whether the title is, as rumored, a cross-platform console adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online, or whether it is an entirely new title.
According to Turbine Communications Director Adam Mersky, the company intends to fill 100 new positions in 2008, with 60 slots already filled thus far this year. A significant investment from media giant Time Warner is largely the cause of this sudden growth, which proves promising for the MMO developer.

Does the name and logo of this company kinda seem like a Valve wannabe to anyone else?

The closest I've been to a D&D MMO is Neverwinter nights online and it was Epic. Some servers are still great and some people really put effort into them but I only played Town of Ascension, A MP Objective server which I was eventually banned for going all Master Chief on other players including the Admin, believe me he deserved it but I never really cared since his server was yet another copy of an original server, and Duel Dragons.
Some servers applied some neat ideas for not saying they totally ripped off Final Fantasy for example: In one you could have jobs such as alchemist, blacksmith or Hunter, in others you could play in a clan, in another you could be a gangster but I never understood how to play it since the server was almost empty and a bunch of empty servers with 3 guys.
I was good at that game I killed 6 guys once with my cleric with Sword Barrier.

So many MMOs in developement yet none ever gets complete. It's crazy how the Marvel Universe MMO got canned. We'll just have to wait and see if a console MMO will ever hit the market.

I'm gonna go out and say that there wouldn't be a large enough market for a console-MMO unless it were either really small, cross-platform, or truly appealing to anyone. I don't see any of the three except for it being small/cheap occurring, and then if that happens, nobody will want to play it.
Conclusion: Not going to survive

DDO is actually a pretty damn good game, especially if you have a couple friends to party with you. Its not very solo friendly but its DDO, DnD has never been about going it alone. I played it a few months but i just wont ever quit WoW lol, would love to see how DDO would do on consoles tho could be badass.

I wish them luck. Apparently there are lots of challenges to overcome compared to a PC MMO.
