Unreal Tournament III on Xbox 360 begins fragging away July 7
We've just confirmed with Midway that Unreal Tournament III for Xbox 360 will hit the console on July 7. The Xbox 360 version will feature five "exclusive" maps, split-screen capabilities, two new characters and the all-new Warfare mode. Of course, the online fragfest will also feature all the benefits of Xbox Live, with none of that pesky mod support.

Nice to see that Dom Santiago has a second job!

LOL at 'pesky mod support'
Inofa @ Jun 11th 2008 8:44PM
This better be for Europe aswell...
I might be able to afford stuff coming out later in the year if I can get this before August.
Smoke_Dawg_187 @ Jun 11th 2008 8:52PM
This will be a great game when it hits the discount bin. I don't really care that much about mods. I can live without it.
Unreal Championship 2 on the original Xbox was great!

This is significantly difficult...

different, different....
damnit.

I'll be picking this up, seeing as my PC can't run it. I would rather have it for PC due to the mod support but...because of the decaying PC, my options are limited.
This should be fun no matter what though, hopefully there will be just enough people playing it. Only thing I worry about really.
Jhongerkong @ Jun 11th 2008 9:05PM
no mods = no buy
Fosssil @ Jun 11th 2008 9:06PM
No mods?
No thanks.

And now you know.
DBuck_Eye @ Jun 11th 2008 9:18PM
Will the split screen be real split screen (4 players) or Gears of War split screen (2 players)?
knighty @ Jun 11th 2008 9:22PM
I can't stand split screen in games anymore. And to think there was a time I could enjoy Goldeneye 4 player split screen on a 14" CRT. *sobs* Anyway, UT3 is a blast on PC despite what the "OMG UT2K4 was so much better" party poopers say so with XBL this will probably be more fun as there are too many people who don't chat at all on PC and it's difficult to type when playing obviously.
There are a few good mods out there but most of them are either shit, or only fun for a few minutes. It's not a huge loss without them.
Turkish Superman @ Jun 11th 2008 9:26PM
Most console games don't have mod support; why is this one so different?
Is it because the PS3 has them but the 360 version doesn't?
Nah, that couldn't be it.
Ninjakamster (PS360 FTW!) @ Jun 11th 2008 9:40PM
I think the PS3 version also has USB mouse and keyboard support whereas the 360 doesn't?
Damn, I want that AND Split-screen. : (
jynxycat @ Jun 11th 2008 9:40PM
No one cares about this game anymore. Everyone knows its crap, Epic isn't a great studio, and the sales were god awful.
Why they're trying to sell off a weaksauce version of an already junk game is beyond me.
Skunk Ape @ Jun 11th 2008 9:41PM
Skip it for now guys. At $30 its a great multiplayer game. At $60 it's a waste of money.
LameDuck @ Jun 11th 2008 10:07PM
Tell me about it. UT2K4 was best!
Sharpblade @ Jun 11th 2008 10:38PM
Yay! Sloppy leftovers and the most gimped version of all can be yours for the low low price of $60 bones.
But hey you get "5 maps" while the other versions get hundreds. But don't worry Microsoft/Epic will give you those maps as well.. for a fee.
xFenixKnightx @ Jun 11th 2008 11:20PM
"hundreds"
*rolls eyes
Of crappy ones, with a handful of exceptions. Can all of you stop being douches already?! FUCK! Give it up already. IMO the only *real difference is the mouse+ keyboard support. 360 doesn't have it and most peeps into this game prefer that. So at least bitch about something better.
PojoMofo @ Jun 12th 2008 10:22AM
The ONLY reason I think this is ok Fenix is because there were many a 360 fanboy saying almost the exact same thing about Bioshock a month ago.

Seriously, are mods such a big deal ?
I wonder how many people have actually seriously played mods on PS3/PC for UT III specifically ?
Yes it's great to have a LEGO mod, or Masterchief on the game, but seriously the fun lasts for like 5 minutes ; there's so many games around on the 360 ...
SeriousKriss @ Jun 12th 2008 4:09AM
Of course mods are a big deal. Hell, they basically saved Oblivion from mediocrity. The fact that there are currently so few interesting ones for UT3 is because the game was a disappointment. If few play the game, few will bother to make mods for it as well.
ThePerfectCompanion @ Jun 11th 2008 11:42PM
I don't care about mods or the much hyped up "keyboard and mouse" support that sony fanboys were screaming about last year.
However this game is coming out at a time where I don't really don't need any more games. Ninja Gaiden, Grid, and GTA IV are all getting enough time on my 360 and soaking up plenty of my social life as it is.
Glad we have it from the ps3 but I won't be getting it until it hits $30 or even less.
truBlue @ Jun 12th 2008 9:24AM
Wow this is crazy. 360 users not aware of what a mod is? So much for the perceived hard core on the 360. The PS3 version has mod, mutator support. Meaning you buy the PC version, create the characters, level you want from your own assets (images etc) then 'cook' them for the PC and / or the PS3 version. Then post it for all the world to play, for free. Master cheif has been done, Halo levels, Half Life levels and lots of originals. A great time waster for old shooter frag fests. But don't get the 360 version if your 'hard core' Pick up the PS3 version. Same prices, much more game.
Poddie @ Jun 12th 2008 11:34AM
I think you're confusing "don't care" for "not aware".
It's like everything else in life (and video games). Things are important to some people and unimportant to others. So some people will prefer 360 systems because they find their features important (Media Center support and (arguably?) better and more standardized online experience) while others will prefer PS3 because of its advantages (nearly free Blu-ray player and more reliable hardware).
Some of us really don't give a crap about having user generated mods or keyboard and mouse support. I know I don't. I want to sit back in my chair and play it on my big screen, not set up a little desk and get all hardcore. And based on past experience, user generated content is pretty much always 95% crap and 5% awesome.
I can't understand why people don't get that different people place importance on different things and that's why we don't always agree.
Norm @ Jun 12th 2008 1:13PM
I actually like this game a lot, I'm pretty disappointed to hear about the lack of mod support. And KB and mouse. I have a KB and mouse adapter for 360, but it doesn't quite work as well as the real thing.
