We have mixed feelings about this game. On the one hand, it's named Zoids Assault, which means that we must abhor it. On the other, it appears to be some sort of grid based strategy RPG, which means that we must love it. This one's been (understandably) flying under the radar a bit, but if it can pull of the depth and complexity of combat that Atlus is promising it could be a great little game to play on the side or take up time as the summer winds down. As long as the cutscenes are skippable and the gameplay isn't too slow, we'll probably be willing to give it a shot.Zoids Assault hitting 360 August 26

I saw that show a couple times, despite the silly name it wasn't that bad.
Anyone know if this game is turn based or real time?

the post says grid-style. so i am assuming it means an rpg like Final Fantasy Tactics or Operation Darkness (also made by Atlus).

Atleast it will have a good translation since Atlus is localizing it. XD Thank you Atlus.

I do like turn based strategy better than real time (X-Com is one of my all time favorite games) but I wasn't a big fan of the Operation Darkness demo. Mainly I didn't like the camera angles and there were way too many people to have to control, at least for my first mission. Maybe this will be more my speed.

why is Atlus dumping all these horrible looking games on Xbox 360? Are we really expected to buy games that look like they were in production for the PSX?

Yeah fine this game looks better than the other two, but it's still abysmal.
For turn based gaming I'm going to get Civ: Revolution.

Atlus is just hoping that there's a certain amount of niche gamers that will enjoy these games and get over the graphics... much like they've hoped for on every other system previously with many of their releases. I don't think that's a bad thing if the game's are actually enjoyable for people into these genres.

Not to date myself to much, but 'Zoids' were actually a brand of toy that I had when I was a kid, before it became a TV show. They came in pieces like a model kit, and you had to assemble them. Each one came with a wind-up motor that would make your Zoid walk. Amazing!

Thankyou!!! I was just about to ask about the all the hate for Zoids!
I spent many a happy Christmas morning putting those things together, then watching them move while they made that whining noise that you always got with wind-up toys! Good times!

If you haven't seen the show and enjoy anime, I recommend checking it out. It's really good shit.
