Guitar Hero III DLC brings Kaiser Chiefs, Sex Pistols, Kasabian
Following the Motörhead set earlier this month, more Guitar Hero III downloadable content lands on the PS3 and Xbox 360 today, with the three-song Isle of Wight Track Pack now available on both consoles for purchase and download.
The pack features "Problems [live at Brixton] by The Sex Pistols, "Shoot the Runner" by Kasabian, and "I Predict a Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs. The set costs 500 Microsoft Points, or $6.25 USD on PS3. For a taste, check out the above video for Kasabian's "Shoot the Runner." It's kinda rockin'.

Meh.

I love how when you buy songs on rock band, as opposed to GHIII, you always get more with what you buy, for much cheaper, and it's for a better game. Well, sometimes you just can't yell.

I got excited because I wanted this to be for Rock Band but then I realized it was for Guitar Hero and got bummed out so I decided the best way to cope was in a run-on sentence that I would share with all of you.
:(

It's okay because Kaiser chiefs Rock but they should be on rock band and the fact that Guitar Hero is getting new songs is good and I won't buy them because I have the PC version and I pirate everything.
Welcome to Run-on-ville. Population, 2.

why would anyone get it when it will just be useless as soon as the next GH game comes out?

Lets see, new engine, new complications.
You guys think they are just being assholes.
You guys don't understand that there is song animation and stage movements programmed into those charts. Guitar Hero Aerosmith has more people on stage than Guitar Hero 3, and they had to alter the graphics code to support that. Thus, leading to complications regarding the fact that a song design for 4 people on stage won't work with 5 without patching all of the DLC, and then people couldn't use the GH3 DLC with GH3 anymore.
Not to mention, there is a difficulty tweak in Aerosmith, since they have fixed the hammerons so they aren't so lose. The Toys r Us employees that have played the demo say that they feel closer to GH2's hammerons.
They have not confirmed the use or abandonment of GH3 DLC with GH4, but the obvious answer is most likely not, since they are multiple tracks. However, since we don't know what GH4 is doing in terms of if they are doing instrumentals (Then they could leave out vocal and drum tracks for GH3's DLC), we can't judge too quickly. What is for sure, though, is that they are modifying GH4's engine to meet new needs, and hopefully it supports backwards compatability. *Insert a standard "but they are activision and they hate us" comment*
Harmonix is going to face a similar problem when they make the next Rock Band. It's just how it works. They face the choice of keeping the old stuff as dead space, and having to keep things the same to support the old tracks, patching all the old tracks to support the new ones (Which with rock band, is MUCH MORE problematic that Guitar Hero, since the volume of DLC), or just going ahead and starting with a clean slate.

*ahem* right so... why would anyone get it when it will just be useless as soon as the next GH game comes out?

I hope I can post about this seeming expensive, you know, because you can get blocked from this site and not break any rules.
Tiptup300 @ Jun 13th 2008 2:11AM
Might have something to do with how nearly 80% of your posts are either "w00t" or is in a topic that's to win something.
Manicbomber @ Jun 13th 2008 2:20AM
If you looked at my posts you'll not find these "w00t" posts you so incredulously allude to, I was always on topic, and how ridiculous is it that you bring up that my posts are in the "to win" something threads - I have to comment in those threads as a condition to win, so it's not by my design that I have a large number of posts there.

It's nice to see that GH3 is offering DLC, now if only they'd break the all-or-nothing mentality they started with GH2. I love being able to buy a single track I like, and not be bound to all three. It's rare that I want them all.
StageProps @ Jun 13th 2008 12:48AM
To be honest, I am really unimpressed with the direction they've taken Guitar Hero III. Instead of all the guitar-centric songs we got to know and love in the first to games, we get these--don't get me wrong, I love "I Predict A Riot"--but these songs would be better suited for Rock Band, where you can do more than just guitar.
Mixaboy @ Jun 13th 2008 1:03AM
I'm like the biggest Guitar Hero fanboy in the world, yet even I'm willing to admit these last two DLC packs have been horrendous. Here's hoping we get -something- good in these next three weeks.
Amirisme @ Jun 13th 2008 6:07AM
I agree... We wan't better tracks! Heck, I want the tracks from the old GHs on PS3! Dammit! The lead singer in the video is just plain gay.
ScottG13 @ Jun 13th 2008 9:11AM
Wow. GHDLC am fail.
