For those who aren't busy sneaking around or being a ninja, Nintendo Wii Fanboy has manage to nab over a dozen exclusive pics from High Voltage's upcoming Wii first-person shooter The Conduit. The images do not fail to impress us – this is a pretty looking game, especially for the Wii. The Conduit, still currently without a publisher, is due out in Q1 2009.

Some of those shots look really Metroid like. Which is both a good and bad thing. Being used to HD graphics it's hard to look at these and think they look nice, but in motion of course the game will tend to look better.
Problem is the trailer that's out does look very generic and like an FPS we would have seen maybe 5-10 years ago. I hope the actual story and gameplay are enhanced somewhat before the final version (Oh, and the blood when enemies are shot, that looks awful). Kudos to them for giving it a go though, I'd love for it to be great.

5-10 years ago?! 10 years ago we were playing Perfect Dark on the N64 FFS. Later on in your time scale, we were playing Halo 1. This game looks significantly better than both. It's only because you are used to HD that graphics like this SEEM ancient. The Wii has overall more graphical potential than the original Xbox, so this game should look at least as good as 'Black'

I love how this game has half-decent graphics and the fanboys are claiming this will be a good game because of that. This game looks generic as all hell. I'll reaserve final judgement until more information/vids are released, but as of now this looks pathetic.

Nah, it's just people hyping themselves up to give hope for the future of their console. Every console owner does it.
Don't forget how many Wii owners assume that if a game looks ugly as hell, it *has* to have great gameplay since... well, I'm not really sure how they come to that conclusion. Something about "gameplay over graphics" meaning bad graphics = good gameplay. Basically they just start making grandiose claims about upcoming titles to hype themselves up and to justify their console purchase.
If this game wasn't for the Wii, people would be brushing it off as a lousy and generic title lost in a flood of superior titles. On the Wii it almost wins by default due to the relative lack of competition.

No one said that the game will be good. The Nintendo fans aren't the same as the Sony ones; touting unreleased games to the heavens. Everyone just took noticed that THIS particular game looks above average of a regular Wii game and that hopefully controls,in-game action, etc are done well.

Oh please, Wii owners foaming at the mouth over Smash Bros. Brawl and calling it the Halo 3 killer even though the games had nothing in common. Boom Blox was being hyped by the owners too and some were comparing it to LittleBigPlanet. And does no one remember Red Steel? Anyone who said anything remotely critical of that game was accused of being a troll because the game was going to be so amazing.
Admit it, everyone hypes games to themselves regardless of their console of choice. Just because the Wii has fewer games to be hyped over doesn't change that fact.

Lmfao! I have NO idea where you heard of Brawl being a Halo Killer...seriously, now. Give me proof of that or just stop making things up. Did you know that the 'Cubes BEST SELLING GAME (continually throughout its lifetime) WAS Smash Brothers Melee?? Yea. A sequel to Melee was just online was GREAT enough for me- but mind you they added a helluva lot of other things jam-packed into the game that got it its high ratings all across the boards. Try harder.
"Boom Blox was being hyped by the owners too and some were comparing it to LittleBigPlanet."
I don't think Boom Blox was hyped by anyone. I just think it came to the surprise of Wii owners that it was ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOOD. O__O Especially for a 3rd Party STEVEN SPEILBERG (sp?) game at that! Who (meaning proof compared THAT to LBP?? Again, two DIFFERENT types of games!
"And does no one remember Red Steel? Anyone who said anything remotely critical of that game was accused of being a troll because the game was going to be so amazing."
I remember RedSteel. First I heard of it, saw screens, read some snippets of the storyline, heard that there will be sword play and gun play off AND ONLINE. Hell I wanted it! Sounded tight and to be a LAUNCH game at that. But because it was a rushed launch title (and knowing that launch titles aren't too great on any system) it failed to meet the hype it made. Sadly. :( I'll probably get it when it hits around 20 bucks.

Of course!! Thats what GAMERS DO, duh! :P Lol. Its not because the Wii has fewer games to be hyped over because Nintendos been throwin out punch-out first party titles since the damn thing launched- its the 3RD PARTY efforts that are actually increasing in GOOD quality. What people here are speculating is that will THIS game being among the GOOD/GREAT 3rd PARTY GAMES for a Nintendo console because well... Nintendos 3rd party support in history hasn't been great at all since the SNES. What are your thoughts now that I've disected your post to comment on each topic?

@ GearSecond
Actually, I have some thoughts on your eloquent "dissection" based on the sole fact that "Nintendo fans" aren't "the same as Sony fans." First, lrn2spell and articulate. Second, you pretty much deemed Nintendo fanboys who hype upcoming games as typical "gamers," since that's "what [gamers] do," and -yet- Sony fans are that much different that they get put into their own category? Way to bias much.
Wii60 bias infused, of course -you- would never see Wii owners calling Brawl the "Halo killer." It was everywhere, even outside of Joystiq! I sincerely believe your bias blinded you to it all. You pretty much justified that it's perfectly fine for Wii owners to hype upcoming titles (i.e. Brawl) as opposed to a Sony fanboy who "typically" hypes unreleased -everythings- and "totes 'em to high heaven." Depending on what system you're hyping games for, you're either "a gamer" or a "Sony fanboy."
So, pretty much, it's *absolutely fine* for a Wii owner to hype an upcoming third party game judging by these incoming screens alone because this just *might* be the game might pick up that suffering trend. Whereas Sony fanboys are so different and do the same thing, it makes them different!
...No one was even talking about Sony fans which is why I had to bring this up. If anyone dissed Red Steel before its launch, all hell broke loose. If anything, people seem a lot more skeptical (and possibly intrigued) about The Conduit considering the Wii's FPS history, you know, save for the "rightful fanboys." Yeah, the game's the first in its series and is kinda coming out in 2009, give it some air before anyone even speaks the word "hype." Talk about defensiveness.
... :|
PS: I wouldn't pay $20 for Red Steel, srs.

After the 20% mark, Red Steel has pretty good graphics. It had excellent lighting effects. I got used to the controls in Red Steel and finished the game.
What I want is an FPS like Deus Ex (the original) where the gameplay isn't linear... Yeah, you have a mission goal, but how you accomplished it was not so linear. In this sense, ALL FPS games suck, except for Deus Ex.
Oh, did I mention I'd love a Deus Ex:Wii-make?

For those of you who aren't playing one of the other two systems' awesome new releases, here are some pretty Wii graphics from a 3rd party for once, from a game that's coming out next year- from the makers of The Family Guy Game!

Hrm, I'm kind of sorry I looked at the rest of those screenshots. The one Joystiq used (the first in the series) almost made it seem like a Tron-esque vibe was going on.
I was almost happy.

Wii could rule the FPS. But, they've got a lot of catching up to do. The MP3 control scheme was so much better than other console games, in my opinion. Here's hoping this game gets it right.
