Seems logical. The PS3 is a beast to code for, so development studios that can focus on creating code for the PS3 alone make a higher quality game than they would if they were making a multiplatform one, so not only do people prefer multiplatfrom games on their Xbox, they PS3 exclusives are the best games the PS3 has to offer.

I would just like to point out that whomever calculated this stat counted first year tittles released on 360 and then later on ps3 as 360 exclusives.

Ask yourself this is that a fair and accurate calculation? Hell no.

How can you count Oblivion as a 360 exclusive. You can't count multiplat releases as exclusives even if they are timed. Because the sales that were made for ps3 are not counted in the equation.

Read the source and you will see what I'm talking about.

The PS3 needs as many great exclusive games as it can get to garner sales and attention to our platform. Its a real damn shame so many JRPGs are on PS3 and 360 or exclusive to 360, they'd get a lot more attention if on the PS3, especially from PS3 owners hunry for RPGs. : (

The reason ps3 exclusives sell 45 percent better is because none of us want a wartered down 360 game with shitty graphics and only 8 hours of game play.

8 hours is longer than some PS3 exclusive games.. RROD is enough of a reason to not want a 360. No reason to hate it for things most companies are also doing.

'Cause Sony exclusives freaking own. MGS, FF, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, LBP; not Halo or Gears or Mario.

With MS, Halo and Gears really aren't all that much better than the multiplatform releases

The problem is with Wii, the "casual" gamers (read: retards) who own them, cant tell that a game like Mario Kart is 100x better than the Speedracer game.

This doesn't make any sense. Regardless of what your personal feelings of the games are, those games that you mentioned on the 360 sold much better relative to other 360 games than the PS3 games you mentioned relative to other PS3 games.

2 of the top 5 selling PS3 games are exclusives, and one of them is motorstorm which we all know would be nowhere near there if we didn't count the freebie that comes in the bundle.

3 of the top 5 selling 360 games are exclusives.

I'm not sure this article is a good thing. Given that the big 360 exclusives seem to actually be having a higher attach rate per console than the PS3 exclusives, all this shows us is that multiplatform games are selling at a much lower clip on the PS3.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but there are definitely several ways of looking at this.

Exactly Vcize, people are misunderstanding this article. It doesn't mean that PS3 exclusives are outselling 360 games, it means that multiplatform games are selling better on the 360 than the PS3. This is bad news, people, not good. It means that the general public prefers the 360 version of games like GTA and Call of Duty. I've contributed to this, the only PS3 games I own are PS3 exclusives. I own the 360 version of all multiplatform games because my friends all own 360s and I prefer to play with them.

Yeah - doesn't make sense. Haven't we all been told that first party games on the Wii vastly outsell the third party games, and they're exclusive. Admitedly alot of the Wii games are exclusives so that may have an effect but does appear to be somewhat of a skewiff number highlighted for no apparent reason.

I would have to agree completely with all 3 replies... This isn't a good thing... This means that when games are multiplatform, the 360 version of the game is the version of choice over the PS3 version. Why? Probably because of achievements and Xbox Live...

The posters in reply hit the nail on the head, its not something PS3 fanboys should be bragging about. The only multiplatform game I'm getting for PS3 is Soul Caliber, and that only because of the superior D-pad and I don't intend to play it online anyway. GTA4, Madden, COD4 any other multiplatform game you can name I get for my 360. For this article to be good news, Sony needs more exclusives of MGS4 caliber and less of Lair, Haze and Heavenly Sword caliber.

So far multi platform games have sold better on the 360 anyway so their wouldn't be a big difference between the multiplatforms and it's exclusives. Also consider that most multiplatform games are the type that sell to the masses i.e. Guitar Hero, Madden, and GTA4. The cheaper Xbox 360 sells to these people easier since many don't even care about HD (or Blu Ray). The PS3 tends to be bought more by the "hard core" who would have bought it for it's exclusive games.

And despite the fact that I'm being a little critical of the PS3 here, I am in fact a happy new PS3 owner (got the MGS4 bundle and 100$ walmart gift card) who is anticipating a fall full of great PS3 games.

For me, I do buy a lot of PS3 exclusives, but I buy a lot of multiplats on it too because I just prefer the PS3 over the other consoles and lord knows I won't buy any multiplats on Wii (gimmicy controls and other reasons) so for me I buy exclusives for all 3 systems and multiplats on my PS3. I own far more games on PS3 though than the other 2 so I can agree with this analysis.

Then when i turn it back on it cant read any discs whatsoever, it just has the swirly loading sign. Everytihng else works fine (Internet, Demos etc) just not any discs, anyone know whats up?

Hate to have to suggest it, but could this not be because people prefer to have the 360 version over the PS3?
It has to be considered, infact its pretty logical really, anyone with both consoles is only likely to buy it for one of them, so even if its perfectly 50/50 both have lost half of that collective's custom.
Im sure the 360 fanboy folks wouldnt let logic get in the way of sticking the boot in, but really the numbers should be expected.
I guess thats only true if the games are equal, in terms of fanbase and quality.
Also, im sure the majority of us bought a PS3 because of earlier exclusives we've played & loved them in the past. I dunno if theres much to take from that conclusion, its just a statistic and they can say completely different things if you look at them from different angles.
We'll say it shows the our exclusives are better than the multi-platform games, Xbots will just say the multi figures are only lower because the PS3 folk have bought the 360 version (if they have both machines) because its the better console. The truth is irrelevent though, that much is true ;)

360's had a year ahead of PS3. Again, let's just stop counting 360's #'s and give PS3 another year to get past this Fall's lineup as well as Xmas's and then let's check back as see what the #'s show.

As a consumer who regularly purchases each system for every generation (read: gaming fanboy, not system fanboy) I can see why, with this generation, this is happening - people already had the 360 and/or Wii prior to buying the PS3 and they then purchased the PS3 for Blu-Ray and have picked up a few PS3 exclusives along the way (Ratchet and Clank and MGS4). I purchased the Wii for Mario, Zelda, and Metroid and the PS3 for blu-ray, MGS4, and FF when it comes out. I think multi-system gamers like myself are like that. They buy each system, figure out which one they like they best, buy all the games on that system they like, and limit purchases for the other systems to only the exclusives.

Last I checked new games cost $60 for both systems, and it's rare to see a multiplatform release at different dates for different consoles. Honestly, there are just more 360's out there. This will change over the next couple of years. Live is another factor, people paying for online play are going to buy the Xbox version so their Live subscription isn't going to waste.

well. its just an impression. I'm from germany and for example DMC4 and Overlord are both about 10 bucks cheaper for the XBox on amazon. Enchanted arms was 70€ when it came out here for PS3, while it was out quite a while for xbox and down to I think about 40€.
I'm not trying to proove anything here - but I'm certainly not the only one - right or not - who has the impression that multiplatform titles tend to be more expensive on the PS3.

Exactly, people assume that because they and their buddy own both systems that everyone else does, too. I sure as heck don't have that kind of money, and since I don't like Halo 3 (or 2.5), or GoW, I personally didn't see the point in buying one when I could just wait a little while longer and purchase a PS3 and start experiencing (what I would call) more next-gen games (just look at MGS4).

Exactly, some people think that because a few people on the forums own both systems (hints we're on a forum and most people who post on forums are usually hardcore and own both) that everyone else does which is totally false.

I for one, will only choose one console per generation and 360 sure ain't one of them. I personally feel that once Sony plays their cards this Fall/Xmas things will change and people sitting on the fence will buy one and #'s will change.

These are pretty much the only games I am buying for the PS3......
