Hmm ... this news is something that we're a bit unsure about. Over at IGN there's an interview with the devs of Vigilante 8 Arcade about the game's details and its dev process. And while it's a good read and did tell us that the game would be hitting at a ten dollar price point (800MSpts), it also informed us of the fact the Isopod labs already has their DLC well in hand.
The details provided in the interview don't address the question entirely, but we do know that the first DLC pack will cost 320MSpts and will feature two new arenas & three new cars. Here's where the uncertainty comes in: does this mean the DLC is already done before the game ever launches? We're not big fans of that sort of thing if true, but given that this is an XBLA game there could be a number of reasons for it. The most likely would be limited storage size, the other would be desire to keep the entry price lower. Oh well, we'll probably never know anyway.

Yeah, holding back content for an extra buck is lame. That said, this is an updated Vigilante 8 for a mere 10 dollars. I really can't complain.

The impression I got from their blog is that the game is done, just going through the MS certification process. While the game was doing this they started on the DLC, but their game hit a few snags in the cert. process (mainly online parts). I can see why they don't add the content now, as the game would take longer to come out and might hit even more problems.

I will get this at launch. I loved it on the N64, and it fills a void.

I will check it out. I don't like it when they make the DLC simultaneously with the game itself. Makes me queasy.

While I hate to be the grammar jerk, I've seen this mixed up across a couple articles now...
"Its" is the possessive form of "it".
"It's" means "it is".
So really what you're saying is...
"there's an interview with the devs of Vigilante 8 Arcade about the game's details and it is dev process."
Which makes no sense.
Sorry :\

Well Vcize is absolutely right! And I mean it`s not that hard now is it? You should at least be able to write flawlessly if you have your own blog.
I love X3F but I think you loose your integrity as a professional if your English is messy.

Well they have to make money because Isopod Labs is a startup just like Voidstar Creations that made Poker Smash.
They had a poll on their website for what the price should be and all the cheapskates voted for 800 points just like they did for Bionic Commando Rearmed.
I know consumers ALWAYS want the lowest price possible, but don't seem to realize that quality must be sacrificed. I'm sure Isopod Labs would be much more comfortable with their game costing 1200 points. And it certainly deserves to cost that much! This is a complete remake of Vigilante 8 with updated graphics, gameplay, and full online play to boot.
Yet Isopod Labs clearly listened to those poll results against their better judgement and so we have V8 for only 800 points. I think everyone should buy the game and the DLC as well to show their support. And I have a feeling that this game will easily be worth your money, possibly right up there with Ikaruga, Rez HD, Puzzle Quest, Poker Smash, Castlevania SOTN, and the rest.
Even Molo's vehicle has been rebuilt with now over 10,000 polygons.
