Hideo Kojima stopped by New York City's Virgin Megastore in TImes Square to meet and greet fans at the Metal Gear Solid 4 launch. We got a number of signed copies ... maybe one will go to a lucky reader (if we feel generous enough!). Check out our gallery below, or some highlights, after the cut.

You got your NES MG cartridge singed? Dude that is AWESOME! +1 My cartridge looks like shit last time I checked so it would be a waste. At least Kojima seems like a cool guy unlike Itagaki. Although Itagaki signing my copy of Ninja Gaiden II would be the shizzle.
Cool pics Joystiq.

Dude, what complete and utter garbage....I was in line and there came a point where they barricaded the line off in front of us. After the line not moving for 30 to 40 minutes, they tell us that Kojima is finishing his final signings and that none of us would be able to get a signed copy of the game. Basically I stood in line for over 4 hours to do the same thing I could have done at Target in the morning in 5 minutes. My heart goes out to anyone else who was in line with me because it really, really was garbage. Not to mention the fact that I didn't even get to set foot in the Megastore until after 2 AM.

Yeah, me and my buddies came all the way from Connecticut, paid $28 for a train ticket and waited in line for four hours only to get sent home without a signed copy of the game. I'm so pissed.

I’ll troll every Sony related post if that gets me a free Ps3 with MGs4 as well.

They let me in the store. I was one of the last 20 and they cut us off. We were 10 feet from the the cash register. I could smell his sweat. So dissapointing

It's 3am and I just got back from the Virgin Store with no autograph and no game (I wasn't going to buy the game from Virgin without an autograph, I can get a better deal somewhere else for JUST the game)
I was also one of the last 20 people in line. The Virgin Store staff told us that we were the last one to get autographs - so we were pumped. As soon as we got to the registers, they told us that Hideo was done for the night. 20 PEOPLE! That was like 10 more minutes - but he just couldn't do it. It was literally THE most disappointing moment in my videogame life.
I walked out of the store totally disgusted with Hideo. He saw that we were the last folks in line and still cut us off. A kid came to NYC from New Jersey (driven to the store by HIS MOM) to get Hideo's autograph and walked away with just a game (which he could have gotten in a shorter amount of time and at a cheaper price in New Jersey).
I basically gave up 5 hours of my life just to stand in line and be disappointed. So if Joystiq wants to right a gamer injustice, I would appreciate one of your signed copies. Thanks.

I know - it was just upsetting to get your hopes up and have the rug pulled from under you. It's like giving a kid a one of a kind Christmas gift and then saying 'Oops, we ran out of gifts for you'.
I'll eventually get MGS4, but won't be rushing out for it now.

Hey,
I just got back from the MGS4 signing event at Time Square. I’ve got 3 copies of the game signed by Kojima, Atocon and the super model lady. If anyone is interested in getting a copy from me. Let me know!
It was totally worth waiting all day.

Hey Mike, if I was you, I wouldn't talk about those 3 signed copies, there are 3 posters above you upset about not being able to make it in....

Well maybe they should've showed up a lot earlier. I stood there all day to get my copy signed and the 3 others. The way i see it, if you have the cash and waited for it then. Early bird catches the worm buddy.
If anyone wants those copies and dog tags. It's going to cost you more.
I also got a gun metal PS3 signed but I'm keeping that one. I'll put that one in my bedroom to watch blurays.

yeah we were just unlucky. I know there were at least 3 people ahead of myself that skipped the whole line. Dunno how they did and you earned your copies Mike. I jus think its stupid that they let the last group in like we were all good and then pulled the plug on the last 20. I wouldve been more content with being told he stopped signing while i was still outside rather then being 10 feet from the cash register and being blown off

Give me your email so we can talk. Virgin Mega store was very unorganized. It wasn't a single file line. I saw a bunch of under age high school kids waiting and inviting friends to come and join the line. A lot of the people in-front of the line were Xbox 360 fans who's trying to cash in. They were either selling there spot of their copy of the game.

I got a good video of him. Well, good because it was close up, but kind of bad quality because it's from my phone.

I thought they said it was supposed to be easier this time around. The game is hard as fuck, but I love every minute of it.

I thought about going last night. I'm glad I didn't because there is no way I would have rolled up at 11 thinking it shouldn't be THAT hard.
How long was he there signing for? Thats kind of sad that he didn't stay to sign for all the fans.

He stayed until about 2am, but the Virgin staff told the group of people I was with that we were the last of the autograph waiters. So obviously, when we got into the store we expected to get autographs.
Nothing like snatching away victory at the last minute.
