Alone in the Dark with Wiimote and Nunchuk
24
A fresh take on Waggletech® as Alone in the Dark for Wii developer, Hydravision Entertainment, proves its penchant for virtual charades in this new trailer. Seriously, the "flasher" maneuver? Brilliant! Who knew the Wiimote and Nunchuk could be used to mimic the parting of a trench coat? Still, there's nothing quite as immersifying as the overhand bludgeon. Classic.

Sarcasm FTW eh! Anyway, it doesn't look good. Not even close to RE4 on GC good.
Bummer.

another Waggle game...
I'm tempted to believe that control scheme would work. But something tells me that in time critical situation, pulling one of those waggle gestures from first attempt would be nearly impossible. On one side. On another side, if they would make waggle too permissive, then chances of hitting wrong gesture are great too.

The factor isn't the accuracy of the controls.. motion controls will never be as accurate as pressing a button (binary state, instant response).
The issue is how forgiving it is. If it misinterprets one of your gestures in combat and you die then its very annoying. If it doesn't cause a problem then its not.
In general i'll take immersiveness over accuracy anyday... but not if the lack of accuracy leads to frustration.

I'm not usually one for waggle effects in games, but at least this seems like a step in the right direction. And to be fair, when something's coming at your face, frantically waving the Wiimote seems to do the job of smacking it fair well.

look - if motion controls weren't around then this game and everygame would just get blasted as same old same old
atleast this tries to spice it up.. in a few years it should get better... everyone wants to hit the streets running with something new. Why not go back to Doom and overly blast that for not being Call of Duty 4 from the get go??

That music reminds me of the Farscape theme just enough to get it stuck in my head.

I love all those moves. Too bad all these hardcore kids prefer "press A to swing your bat!" lol

The controls seem inspired my MP3, in that they pull of specialized little moves in specific situations that involve realistic movements, but they don't bog it down in specifics
The graphics look pretty neat, too. Some of the textures look like ass (like the inside of that car when he hotwires it), but otherwise its pretty solid

I'm actually interested in the Wii version and may end up picking up this version instead of the 360 version if the controls turn out to be good.

At least it's a step in the right direction, in terms of motion controls.
Even if it isn't pulled off cleanly in this game, someone else could perfect it, thus, setting a new standard.
I'm looking forward to buying it.

wow... i might have just been sold. those motion controls look GOOD. like MP3 good.
it's ALL gonna depend on reviews, and whether or not the controls *actually* work like they make it seem in their marketing trailer.
-"superfan" tactics.

Those motion controls actually look decent. But those graphics are quite lacking. And I'm not even a graphics whore.

That video is a big load of crap. AQuit trying to justify your purchase of a Wii now beacuse of what the games might be like 3 years from now.

I'm too lazy for this shit. I'd rather have really crisp/nice graphics and lay back on my bed, relaxed, without having to worry about sitting upright and waggling the god damn controller.
Yes, I am that lazy...
