Nintendo sues Nyko over Kama wireless nunchuk

Nintendo may not make a wireless nunchuk controller, but it'll be gosh darned if someone else is going to do it. Bloomberg reports that Nintendo has sued peripheral manufacturer Nyko over its Kama Nunchuk (pictured above). The Big N claims the design infringes on its trademarks, contending the Kama "appropriates the novel shape, design, overall appearance and even the color and materials used in the Nintendo Nunchuk controller."

Nyko reportedly responded that it didn't "knowingly" violate the company's patent and is looking into the issue. Nintendo wants cash for Nyko infringing on two of its patents and to stop selling the product. The Kama retails for $35 and, given Nintendo's legal war chest, if you're in the market for a wireless nunchuk, now's probably a good time to get it before it's gone. Perhaps this is a sign Nintendo is up to a wireless nunchuk of its own, or would that be something only "geeks and otaku" would be interested in?

Nintendo is slowly but surely turning me away from them.
Not that they shouldn't protect what they created. But it still remains, I like their stance on things less and less as time goes by.

Sorry, no. Nintendo should focus on its current console by making games that actually take advantage of the new controller. Not put out accessories for their old, failed console.

Nintendo must for some odd reason truly need the Wii to continue to consume massive amounts of disposable batteries seeing as they clearly hate the idea of a rechargeable Wii.

This makes the Wii the most toxic as it literally defecates.

I doubt Nintendo are making a Wireless Nunchuck, they just like throwing their weight around, like a 2 years old child stealing all the crayons.
HE doesn't want to use them all, but it doesnt mean any one else can have them!

Maybe Nintendo should think a little more about it's "geeks and otaku", then being a cock tease and not letting anyone else give us a lil pleasure!

I'm starting to see that Nintendo operates in the gaming market how Microsoft operates in the PC space. What's next? Buy out Nyko, shut them down, and release the product themselves? Nyko are providing an answer to a question that Nintendo refuses to acknowledge. It seems they do that a lot these days.

Almost 2 years after launch, and Nintendo get $60 per controller. This is been a horrid generation for buying controllers. 360 doesn't have any cheaper 3rd party wireless controllers, PS3 does... actually have 3rd party controllers. But Nintendo does not.

WTF is wrong with Nintendo lately? They've not done anything right for a while and now they sue a 3rd party company for making a similar product to the nunchuck? The nunchuck wouldn't work as any other shape, how could they have changed it? Jeez Nintendo...
