It better be good Megaman.

None of this off-shoot, quasi-3D/RPG element crap.

I want jumping, shooting, sliding, Rush, and 8 freakin' bosses that, when I beat them, I get their powers.

Megaman has been dead since X4.

If they could do a 3D Mega Man with all of the elements of a classic 2D Mega Man, I'd be all for it. Not like Mega Man 64, though. I've played that game. It's not so good.

MegaMan Legends (aka MM64) was awesome. It was very different from everything that previously constituted as a "Megaman game," but it was still great.

"JUMP! JUMP! SLIDE! SLIDE!"

2 and 3 were the tops in the series. But 7 and MM&B were great, too.

If the poor sales of the PSP remakes show anything (both Maverick Hunter X and Powered Up in Japan only sold as well as Maverick Hunter X did on its own in America... Which wasn't very good), that most of Megaman's fans aren't with Sony or Microsoft, they're with Nintendo. Even the Classic and X Collections sold best on GameCube, surprisingly.
(a real shame, too, as the PSP remakes were incredible)

Still, any continuation of the Classic series makes me glad. Would rather it'd be a retail title than a download one, though.

If Metal Slug 7 and Contra 4 are any indication, companies like to bring back great and somewhat-dead series on the DS. Also, didn't Capcom have a survey on its website a while back where you voted on what console you wanted the next Megaman to be on? That would probably be a good indicator...

"bass rockman"
It's either Rockman & Forte, or Megaman & Bass.
Try not to mix up the English and Japanese names, okay?

Better yet, just use the English names. Since, afterall, we're not speaking Japanese here, anyways.

Uh, even though I grew in S. America, my uncle used to bring me the titles from Japan, so I got more used to calling him Rockman than Megaman (and cmon, it sounds much cooler!)

Personally, I always thought "Rockman" was a dumb name.

He neither has the power of EARTH (that would be Stoneman) or music.

And,yes, I know that before he was a super fighting robot, he was a house-keeping robot named Rock. However, for Rock to called Rockman is like Mr. Kent being called Clarkman or Mr. Wayne being called Bruceman. It just sounds silly.

Why make it exclusive? Just so it'll make your e-pen0r bigger?

A game like Megaman 9 should be multiplatform, so that more people can enjoy it.

make it exclusive because other systems dont support bluray.......... Im not trying to bash any of the other systems, but they just can't do what the PS3 can because of the space issues. I suppose I could live with a regular multiplatform release, but I just want to see a balls to the wall amazing side scroller. Ever since PS2, they've all but died out and I want to see what is possible to with one. The PS3 is the only system that can do everything that's possible to be done on a current console and that is because of blu-ray. fuck it. make mega man a multiplatform release. Just give me 50gb of Castlevania sidescrolling love.

As big as it is, even MGS4 isn't 50GB. When Kojima complained about the storage space of Blu-ray, he meant a single-layer disc. Kojima Productions got permission from Sony to use a dual-layer disc, making MGS4 the first dual-layer BD game.

Any Megaman title would not be nearly as big as MGS4. It wouldn't need the amount of space, nor would it have the kind of budget. If people think MGS is niche, Megaman is even more so. The best selling game in the franchise (Megaman 2, NES), topped out at about 1.5M worldwide.

A dual-layer BD would be wasted on Megaman. Plus, Inafking (Keiji Inafune) has already acknowledged that PS3 and 360 really aren't the place for Megaman, due to their smaller user bases, and the primary markets on them (FPS with the blat-blat, yo).

And, BD would be wasted on Castlevania, too.

BPM,

can you link the article about Inafune saying that the 360 and/or PS3 aren't the place for Megaman/Rockman?

I had heard about him saying that he was working on the Wii, but he didn't specify about user base or primary market...

Well, not only that, but the poll there was a year ago on the japanese Rockman site about their console of choice for the next Rockman, the Wii won, followed by the DS and PSP respectively

Okay, found the article...
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3159987

Basically, his primary concern with creating an HD* Megaman is whether or not Capcom would be able to cover the costs for such a project. However, if money wasn't a concern, and he could do whatever he'd want, he'd love to do an HD MegaMan Legends 3.

*NOTE: I use the term "HD" to specify 360/PS3 because they are NOT next-gen, they are CURRENT-GEN (as they are the currently available systems), as is Wii. Only difference is that Wii isn't an HD system.

Oh man, Inafune is the shit...

I don't know BPM, there are many contradictions.

I guess we just have to see where Legends 3 goes, maybe Kaz or Kim put some money on the table...after all, Legends 3, in HD, would make any of the consoles quite famous in Japan, a region that both the PS3 and 360 are lagging behind...

Anyway, we would just have to wait and see til E3, because there still some more "secret" titles by Capcom that could end up being this one...

ummm just go play mgs4 and uncharted. then see if you need to ask that question again. The 360 is a great system. I occasionally flame it for fun, but in all seriousness, it's just as good as the ps3 is with 2 exceptions. It uses old dvds and it doesn't have installs. With those 2 upgrades, the 360 would probably be the better system. Without them, the PS3 will continue to be more capable than the competition.

The capacity of DVD hasn't been much of an issue for 360 thus far. If memory serves me right, the only games to be multi-disc were Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey (both of which utilized a lot of FMV).

And there are 360 games that give you the option to do HDD installs to help with loading times.

Am I saying BD is unncessary? No. I don't think MGS4 could fit on a single DVD (but, that all depends on how the BD was utilized... How compressed is the audio/textures? Is there repeated data, like in Obliviion?). But that's an exclusive, so who knows how an 360 version would be like (just wait for MGS4: [something]stance lol).

Oh, and Noshino... As much as I've love for it, Megaman really doesn't have the kind of selling power to boost any system's sales. Only ones to break a million worldwide were MM2, MMX1, and a couple of the Battle Networks.

BPM,

I know that it won't sell, Megaman doesn't really sell, but what it does is appeal to the masses, and like I mentioned before, that is something that both the PS3 and 360 need in Japan and the rest of the world

Noshino, I meant that Megaman wouldn't move a lot of systems, even in Japan. It isn't something that people would buy a system just for (except me; got a NeoGeo Pocket Color and WonderSwan Color for their Rockman games).
